Warner Bros. Pictures has set a July 20, 2012 release date for Christopher Nolan's third Batman movie in conventional and IMAX theaters! That is a little over two weeks after Sony Pictures is releasing their Spider-Man reboot on July 3, 2012.

Nolan's second Batman movie, The Dark Knight, opened July 18, 2008 and earned more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

That makes 3 comic films confirmed for 2012 (Batman 3, Spider-Man reboot, and Avengers). Now to begin waiting for more official news on the next Batman film. Probably be at least a year...

More than 2 years away? Hard to care much about that.

I guess Nolan is busy with the next Superman reboot in the interim.

Well, he has Inception coming out this year, so he has been working on that, and from what I understand the script for Batman 3 isn't even finished yet... Nolan has never been one to rush things, and for good reason...

Already?

Anyways...great that the movie finally has a release date.

Can't wait to see it.

Dude! This is awesome! The Dark Knight is one of my favorite movies :D

Marvel Vs. Marvel Vs. The Goddamn Batman.

I wonder who's going to make the most money...

It'll be cool to see it though (Isn't the villain the penguin or something?)

No confirmed villain. Not even a script, last I heard. Likely won't be official word for another year or more. Not until casting starts in full. Anything until then is just a rumor.

I wonder what they will do this time around. Whatever it is it should, imo, be better than The Dark Knight, otherwise I don't see a point in making another Batman movie.

Anyways I hope we get to see Catwoman or Poison Ivy as villains :p

I'm guessing Riddler will be the villian without the Joker..

Hey, anyone remember the last time we had a third Batman film? :D

But seriously, weren't there rumors that this wouldn't come to be at some point? Glad that's not the case.

Last I checked on IMDB, the Untitled Batman Project is under pre-production.

The first time I checked it, I had seen the main cast for the movie: Christian Bale- Bruce Wayne/Batman, Michale Caine- Alfred, and Morgan Freeman- Lucius Fox.

However, there was ONE more slot under the cast, and it belonged to (it seemed) a British actor, who was next to the name: Edward Nigma/The Riddler.

I checked out his profile, and his physical outline screams the villains name. I was pretty impressed.

Unfortunately, about a week after I saw this, I went to look again to see any more additions to the cast, and the actor to play The Riddler was gone!

I personally think they did it on purpose so that nobody knows whats going on or who's in it until the right time comes.

Also, David Goyer, who helped write Batman Begins, is credited to be of assistance again for the third installation. Pretty cool!

Emperor Palpatine: The third Batman movie...I'm afraid it starred George Clooney.

Vader: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO *wrecks room with the Force*

Schwarzenegger: "Stay cool, Batman!"
Me: *death from terrible pun*

Batman costume: *has nipples*

Critical Research Failure. That was the fourth movie.

The film spawned three sequels: Batman Returns (1992), Batman Forever (1995) and Batman & Robin (1997).

D'oh. It was the third sequel, not the third movie. Minus one Nerd Cred to me. :(

...Batman and Robin was still terrible, though.

A bat credit card?

Nah, this film will be great. You'll see.
