Fandral will be played by Stuart Townsend. The job of Hogun goes to Tadanobu Asano. And Volstagg will be portrayed Ray Stevenson.

There's the short version. Not a big fan of Ray Stevenson as Volstagg (c'mon...are there no fat actors? And doesn't he still have the stench of Punisher: War Zone on him?). The other two will work. Not dead-on, but I can live with it.

So now we've got Thor, Loki, Jane Foster, the Warriors Three, Sif, and Odin cast (and Nick Fury, of course). Only likely missing characters are Balder and Heimdall (plus any new or non-consistent characters they decide to throw in). Should be interesting to see where things go from here.

Sweeeeeeet.

I'm really looking forward to this movie... and not just because Samuel L. Jackson plays Nick Fury again...

Re: Thor Film's Warriors Three Cast

How much longer till the avengers movie now?

In my opinion it wasn't a good idea to cast Samuel L Jackson as Nick Furry.

Re: Thor Film's Warriors Three Cast

Why? They based the ultimate version of him off... huh, wouldn't you know, it was S. L. Jackson.

And I think the movie comes out in 2011

Yes I was aware of that but I've never seen him play a role like this one.

It's just Mace Windu without a gun. Shouldn't be too hard for him.

I totally agree Volstagg has be fat. Easily, the dumbest casting decision for the Thor film, so far.

Re: Thor Film's Warriors Three Cast

And now we have Heimdall. Usually, I might complain about this...but I kinda like this guy's look. He really has that stoic, watchful look about him.

Though it DOES raise several odd questions...

I'm sorry. Why is Marvel casting the wrong people for these roles. No offense to the actors, but ummmmmm I think they forgot to mention that the Norse Gods are actually white. Heimdall!!! Come on now, that was a stupid choice. He should not have been casted. I am kind of turned off from this movie a little. I think the guy is a good at best actor, but for this movie it does raise eyebrows. The asian guy as one of the Warriors Three is kind of cool though. I am not digging the casting of Heimdall at all, not in the least. Kind of sickening. Gotta have some minority.

I understand wanting accuracy, but keep in mind that Hogun wasn't from the city of Asgard, originally. He was from another area in the Asgardian realm that was obviously tied to the Mongolian culture. Him being played by an Asian actor actually makes MORE sense than him being (sort of) white in the comics.

It's not a matter of hiring "minorities" (all signs point to Nick Fury being in the movie in some capacity. Though my guess is that it's going to just be a post-credits scene like in Iron Man), it's about hiring good actors. And while I'm usually leading the charge in wanting accuracy, I'm not really having a problem with the casting so far, aside from Stevenson as Volstagg. And I'm even willing to wait until we get some images of him to fully pass judgment.

Honestly, I'm more curious as to how they'll explain Heimdall being black (would be like doing a Hercules movie with a black Apollo. Not a big deal, but definitely an oddity) than I am upset or disappointed in his casting.

I know man, I liked that choice the more I thought of it with Hogun. I don't have a problem with Jackson playing Fury because these movies are all concentric around the Ultimate Universe which is leading up to the Avengers movie. I don't really mind Stevenson either, hell they may make him look fat in a fat suit and make up and/or cgi possibly. Heimdall being black is just plain stupid man. You got to give me that at least.

I think the actor is an okay actor in his own right from The Wire, but cast as a Norse god.....that really feels kind of pushed on us that were supposed to accept him as a Norse god. I am just thinking realistically of comics, games etc of Heimdall.

To me, it's detrimental to the casting of the movie. I might need to ignore him in the hopeful few scenes he has and focus on the other characters. Easily outdumbs Ray Stevenson casting.
