What's the green thing on Thorton's head?

I've wondered this for a while. The only thing I can think of is that it's a yarmulke, since it's worn the same way.

Which would make Thorton the first canonically Jewish Pokemon character, if that is actually the case.

It's actually his hair. If you look closely at his Sugi art, you can see the green hue extend down behind his ear to the nape of his nape.

That... is even weirder.

So wait, what's the black stuff then?

Um, yeah, that's Thorton's strange hairstyle. I don't see how it can be mistaken for a hat, but... [shrugs]

I always thought he was wearing a head band, or a hat or he just has white hair, like an albino or something.

I'm sure an anime appearance will clear it up... we'll see him from the back at least once.

In his before-battle sprite, it looks more like hair, as there's an extra line that could be taken to be that. Could also be like, a wrinkle in the hat... but seeing as how they never get that detailed with the sprites, I'm leaning more towards hair.

It should be noted that before actually taking the time to look right now, I totally thought it was a hat of some sort. XD

Thorton's the newest member of the "Hat-or-Hair" club.

Got the style from Brendan, no doubt. D: I'm willing to lean towards "hat+hair" combo...but have we had two-toned hair-color characters? I can't remember any off the top of my head at the moment...

In further observation I believe his hat is really the black thing as his hair is really green but shaved it all off. You can tell by the green sideburns.

And wow, I had no idea we had such high-res art of Sugumori's work! -saves to take notes on imitating Sugimori's style-

When I saw it first, then I also thought it would look like a yarmulke but I'm pretty sure it's his hair.

High resolution=high win

Yeah, It's totally his hair.

Though I have to admit that I thought it was a hat at first.

Thorton is still cool even if the world does not know whether it is a hat, hair, a hat made out of hair, or hair made out of a hat.

The debate continues!
