So as we all know the latest issue of Corocoro revealed some more details on how triple battles will work.

Pages 6 and 7 are about triple battling:

* Triple battles are set up so that the middle Pokémon is able to target all 3 Pokémon, while the ones on the sides can only target their opposite sides. Pokémon positions are able to be switched on the bottom screen with a button. It is said that if the middle Pokémon attacks, there will be some kind of attack boost.
* There is a new ability called Telepathy (テレパシー), which prevents damage to teammates (with the ability) when an attack that would normally hit them is used.
* There is an unnamed attack similar in function to Telepathy which prevents damage to both teammates.

With this info how do you expect the writers to incorporate these mechanics into the anime? Or will they even bother trying to?

I don't think the targeting-system will matter much when adapted to the show...

I honestly doubt it will be any different than double battles + 1 in terms of the anime. If only because in the anime Pokemon aren't mindless robots, and the battle is a lot more fluid in the anime.

They'll probably still include the game mechanic, it but it'll probably be exactly like double battles but with one more Pokemon. Jumping all over the place would easily cause the Pokemon to be out of order.

The only thing I don't really see (in tournament mode fashion), are tag battles +1 more person. If only because 3 people vs 3 people doesn't sound all that interesting.

It'll be interesting to see a trainer in the anime order 3 Pokemon at once.

They probably won't adapt it faithfully.

Seeing 6 Pokemon on the field at once is bound to be a disaster.

There were a bunch of unofficial triple battles ever since the beginning of the series, as were there two on two battles that were supposedly illegal according to the Pokemon League. Nothing will change, except maybe a gym with special rules.

Never mind that skirmishes between Ash/his friends and Team Rocket usually end up like this anyway. It wouldn't be so unusual for the anime to have offical battles play out like this.

It will be like a double battle. All 3 Pokemon per team in the battle will have to work together, just like the team pairs in double battling.

Maybe it's just a battle rule that you can't attack the pokémon your not supposed to attack when they introduce triple battles.

I'd like to see 3 people vs. 3 people

I'd prefer that over each trainer trying to control three Pokemon or, worse, one trainer w/ three Pokemon against three trainers each w/ a single Pokemon. Talk about an Excedrin headache.

It would be pretty cool if DP or BW closed with a battle of the Main trio vs...eh,other people xD

That is a good idea: maybe they could battle Team Rocket, or some of the recurring characters?

But I think the battles could get a bit confusing for some people to follow. I'd like to see them at least give it a shot

But it would seem Isshu is very far away so they could just explain that they have different rules or something similar to that.
