Tierno, Trevor, Shauna, Miette, Scottie - rival potential.

OK, as of right now, we have five characters who have pretty much been designated as "rivals" to the protagonists in the XY anime series (no, Sanpei really doesn't count, at least to me or at least not yet). Now, I know some people have mentioned that the rivalry action seen in these episodes has been...far less confrontational than others, but I thought I might as well bring this up.

Out of these guys, who do you think really has the best potential in regards to being a rival? What could they do? Any other thoughts? How does this compare to other "rivals" from across the sagas?
 
The one having the best potential at the moment is undoubtedly Shota.

Him lookng up to Ash is actually the biggest threat for Ash. As Ash's unpredictable battle style can only be countered by the same style. It will be a blast when they finally clash at the league.

And there was a personal rivalry between Grovyle and Frogadier, which will be helping to set up a clash that has more tension that other battles.
 
I think out of all of them, Scottie has the best potential to really shine, hoping he shows up again before the league at least two more times. He looks up to Ash and he really wants to be as strong as he is. He's a rookie done right so far, unlike Trip who was inexplicably strong from the start. I do wanna see Scottie improve and actually win some battles. Out of anything I think that sets up for a great league match, its gotta be that rivalry that sparked between Frogadier and Grovyle, who I assume will both evolve into Greninja and Sceptile by the league. We're probably gonna see Ash face him and Tierno in the league, though I think Scottie may get the full battle.
 
It's just nice seeing the cast growing after all those episodes of the COTD population being the highest it had been since the OS! :-D
 
well i love all of them too much so it is difficult to answer
 
-Tierno: He gives me Stephan vibes, might pull off interesting combinations and battles with his dancing strategy, but I doubt he will do something surprising. I like that he has two of my favorite Pokemon, Hitmontop and Politoed.
-Trevor: We know almost nothing about him, so I don't have an opinion.
-Shauna: She gives me Zoey vibes, being a experienced performer than her rival but having a friendly rivalry with her. However Shauna has a lot of things that make her more likable than Zoey, like her naive personality and her looks. I doubt he will do something surprising.
-Miette: An interesting rival, but with bad execution, as she doesn't flirt with Ash despite liking him, I think the writers aren't going out of their comfort zone of evil rivals with her. Her association with baking makes her sighlty better than Ursula, trough.
-Scottie: Definitely the one with most potencial, as he feels fresh and has a lot of good concepts surrounding him. However I was hoping that he would have a Hoenn-only team.
 
Tierno= Fodder rival at best.
Scotty= Morrison expy.
Alan= Most likely to be the dream killer.
 
I don't see Tierno being a challenge at the league. Maybe Shota unless a new rival shows up.

Trevor.... wish we could see more of him. What's he even up to?
