Tell me something.... Oh yes, your asking why the heck I'm posting this now, when I promised I would in the summer of 2011.
Well, my stupid mind anticipates a lot. So yeah, it was hard to not write down at least a few pages of this story on word. I'm just giving you the prologue because I didn't quite finish part 1 of the story.
Yeah, I said part 1. Why not chapters? It just easier to me, as well as I think chapters would've messed up the whole thing (since this is really based on a RP I'm in on another site.)
So, updating will be slower than the normal updates of Razayka. (I'm still working on chapter 9, by the way. Yeah, I know I'm slow, but that's how I work.)
Now you probably want me to shut up right now because I'm giving you too much information.
I think that's all you need to know right now, except for the fact that this story is rated PG-13 for violence, some language, and a very very small bit of sexual scenes at the very end of the story. (But I promise you it won't be too graphic.)
Yeah, that's it. Now enjoy this very short prologue of my newest fan-fiction, Time for Change!
Leaves rustled along the deserted alleyway, created by the flapping of mighty wings descending to the ground from the sky. A scarlet shape dropped onto the hard and rough asphalt and green-tipped wings folded gently to the shape's side.
It quickly walked down the alley, long white claws that gleamed in the moonlight of the waning moon clicked on the pavement. At the end of the alley was a man. He was slumped up against the brick wall of an apartment, face in the shadows. The bird quickened her pace, wondering if the man was injured or sick.
"Are you alright, sir?" She asked in a human voice, the tone light and feminine. The face moved and large, somber black eyes stared at the colorful Pokemon in front of him.
"I'm fine..." He mumbled back, voice low and intimidating. As he spoke, the Pokemon managed to get a good look of the man. He was dressed head to toe in black, a long sweeping cape covered his back and made a hood that covered the top of his head. All that was visible on him was his nose and mouth, and the small glint of somber black eyes that held hard times in their shadowy depths. His leg was twisted in an odd position which the Pokemon quickly noted was broken.
"That leg... It looks bad..." She mumbled, motioning to the awkward limb.
The man shrugged, "It's nothing." But yet even as he said this, he winced even if he slightly moved his leg.
The Pokemon blinked and moved towards it, golden beak low to the ground. The man noticed this and stiffened, "What are you doing?" He demanded, deathly afraid of the bird. She just smiled.
"This..." She answered and placed a claw on the broken bone. The man squeezed his eyes shut, expecting pain, but nothing happened. He opened his eyes to see the Pokemon standing next to his now magically healed leg. He looked in bewilderment at his healer.
"What did you just do?" He asked in a shaky voice, awed by the power this Pokemon possessed.
"Recover." She answered in that same beautiful voice that the man had grown increasingly fond of. He stood up and was still surprised as his leg didn't hurt at all.
"Thanks." He said, looking at the bird.
"No problem." She replied.
An awkward silence stretched through the two and then suddenly the Pokemon asked, "What's your name? I'm Ho-Oh." The man blinked before replying, "Call me...Burakku."
"Burakku... I shall remember it." And then Ho-Oh bowed.
Burakku smiled, his smile noticeably twisted. "You don't have to call me that though, I really don't like it. If you want you can call me Shadowmancer. I make swords you see and I'm pretty good. I also like the color black." He explained his nickname with a smirk.
Ho-Oh only laughed, "Oh no, I actually like Burakku better. Although I can call you Shadowmancer if I want."
Burakku was again surprised, but kept his smile, "Alright then, Ho-Oh. You can just call me Burakku."
"Higher, higher!"
"If I go any higher, we'll be in space!"
Ho-Oh and Burakku both laughed like children as they whisked through the clouds of the Johto Region. A few weeks had passed since they had first met and they couldn't get enough of each other. Everyone commented how good of friends they were even if they were of different species. Sometimes people gave them looks of disgust as they talked with each other kindly and helped each other out. They didn't care, they were only friends after all.
"Shall we land?" Ho-Oh asked, looking up at Burakku. He nodded and Ho-Oh coasted to a stop, "Hang on!" She yelled and plummeted for the ground.
In seconds, the ground was visible and Ho-Oh gradually slowed down and landed with a soft thud on the cobblestone road of Olivine City.
"Well that was nice." Burakku said as he hopped off Ho-Oh's back. Ho-Oh smiled, "You're welcome."
Burakku looked around and noticed the Olivine Diner was close by. "If only you were human...." He mumbled under his breath.
"What was that?"
"Oh nothing!"
Burakku couldn't tell her the truth. He actually in fact was starting to like Ho-Oh, her magnificence awed him and her personality was beyond as beautiful as she was on the outside. He really did like her, but he didn't have the guts to tell her the truth. I mean, how awkward would that be? Pokemon and human together? It wasn't right...
Burakku sighed as he sat down on the cliff near Olivine City. He looked out among the vast ocean and sighed again. The patter of footsteps alerted him, but he knew who it was.
More weeks had passed of Burakku keeping his secret. And now... He was about to reveal it.
Ho-Oh stepped up to him, near his side, "You called for me."
Burakku nodded, "Look, we need to talk."
"I'm listening."
Burakku looked at her, somber black eyes unwavering. "Ho-Oh I...." He trailed off, not knowing what to say.
"It's alright, go on."
Burakku closed his eyes and leaned in close to where her ear would've been and then he whispered in the most emotional tone he had ever done, "I love you."
He opened his eyes to see Ho-Oh looking at him, tears in her scarlet eyes. But these were tears of joy. "Oh Burakku, I love you too!"
He looked at her, shocked, but that same handsome and twisted smile crossed his face and he closed his eyes. Thank you, Arceus...
"But.... I don't know..." Ho-Oh said suddenly. Burakku bit his lip.
"I mean... I'm a Pokemon, you're a human... We can't."
Burakku reached into his jet-black coat pocket, "I know..." He then pulled out a syringe filled with electric blue liquid. Ho-Oh shuddered, "What's that?"
Burakku smiled, "It's a serum consisting of Swellow feathers and Gyarados scales. It can turn any Pokemon into a human." He explained.
Ho-Oh gazed at him, wide-eyed, "Oh my..."
Burakku continued, "Although it's amazing it does have a bad after-affect. If you don't get the serum out of your body by the blue moon, the virus implanted inside will take over your body and kill you."
"... And yet you want me to take this?"
"Don't worry! I'll give you the cure once the blue moon comes up!"
And so, Ho-Oh agreed and before you knew it, there was a beautiful young red-headed woman sitting in front of Burakku. And as the sun set in the horizon they leaned in and kissed each other.
Two years. Two years it had been of Ho-Oh and Burakku living together. Two years of love, joy, and no worries.
Now, Burakku had to leave for a business trip to Saffron City in Kanto and he gave Ho-Oh the cure before he left as he knew the blue moon would come in a week prior. He would be away for at least a year. It was a big business trip.
After the blue moon had come and gone, Ho-Oh had gotten a new neighbor in the Brass Tower that was right beside the Bell Tower. It was a large, shining Pokemon which the town folk had dubbed "Lugia" after lutetium which is a silverish element. Ho-Oh had decided to introduce herself to the new Pokemon and at once they became great friends. He told her all about a colony of Lugia that lived in the Whirl Islands near Cianwood City. He had decided to live here after hearing about another Legendary which was Ho-Oh herself.
During the time Burakku was away, Ho-Oh had grown increasingly interested in Lugia, and soon she suddenly found herself falling into a relationship with the great silver beast. She knew her heart lied with Burakku, but for some reason, she didn't want Burakku in her life anymore. She didn't like being a human, and if she was in her Pokemon form with Burakku it would look awkward. She knew it would be hard telling him the truth, but she had too... Or, maybe not.
Ho-Oh had presented an Egg with Lugia. It was wrong in every way possible. She had really betrayed Burakku now.
"This is great!" Lugia had exclaimed when Ho-Oh passed the news of the Egg, although Ho-Oh was pretty silent about it.
It hatched just a week before Burakku would return from Saffron. Ho-Oh mothered it well and taught the new baby Lugia many things. She didn't name him, she just called him "Lugia". The father was thrilled about the baby and acted each passing day as if nothing would get any better or worse than it was now. Ho-Oh felt like dirt. This wasn't what she had planned, and there was no way she could break the tragic news to Burakku. He would be too stunned and probably hate her forever. Ho-Oh felt pure agony inside her, it was just to much.
When Burakku arrived, the citizens had told him that Ho-Oh had gone off to search for a pure-hearted Trainer. She didn't want to be caught or anything, she was just on a mission. Burakku was crestfallen, but he still continued on to the Bell Tower. He wanted to come home to Ho-Oh and give her the virus so she could be human again, but he came home to a different surprise.
He climbed up the steep stairway of the Bell Tower and once he got to the top most floor where they lived, he heard crying. Baby Pokemon crying and a voice. He peered around the giant pillar in the center of the room and saw with shocked eyes a large white and indigo dragon-like Pokemon looking down at a smaller version of itself which was crying non-stop.
"Who are you?" He demanded, catching the Pokemon's attention.
He turned around and smiled, "Oh, I'm Lugia and I just moved here a few months ago. I'm visiting my son since I live in the Brass Tower right beside here."
"And he's in my house because...?"
The Lugia blinked in surprise, "Because Ho-Oh, the mother lives here? Um... I'm her mate?"
Burakku nearly stumbled onto the floor in shock. What? Did he just hear the Pokemon right? He must be dreaming. He pinched himself hard. It hurt. A lot.
"No, no, no...." He mumbled under his breath. The Pokemon tilted his head, "Something the matter?"
Suddenly, Burakku whipped his head up and faced Lugia with a look of immense rage that scared the great beast.
"Yes there fucking is something the matter! I'm supposed to be with Ho-Oh, I'm her true mate! And... And.... Did she... Did she just go away so she wouldn't have to tell me her little 'problem'?" He growled louder than an Arcanine. He then continued with a hiss that sounded like an Arbok, "Get out of my house... I don't care if you're the father or not... Just... Get. Out."
Lugia's eyes widened, but he did as he was told and fled out the open window to the sky back to th Brass Tower.
Burakku stood there, just staring at the window where Lugia had escaped. He felt his eyes water, something that hadn't happened to him in years. And then he stumbled to the floor, curled up in a ball, and cried. Cried loud and long over the Pokemon who had betrayed him... He thought she loved him.... But, maybe it was because he was human that she cheated.... Maybe they weren't just meant to be. But it was also possible that it was all that new Pokemon's fault. He should have known Ho-Oh was already taken. It was all his and Ho-Oh's fault and Burakku knew they would pay the hard way...
He stopped weeping and looked up, his emotionless black eyes glistened with tears and burned with inner rage. He was furious and he would take this fury to the ultimate level.
A fire had struck the Brass Tower that night. Many of the townspeople proposed that it had been caused by lightning striking the tower since there was a big storm going on when it happened. The rain had quelled the fire, and three Pokemon had been announced dead after being trapped inside the tower when the fire started. Ho-Oh had come briefly to visit and since she felt sorry for the befallen Pokemon known as Raikou Entei and Suicune, she reincarnated them and they all scattered to different areas of Johto.
After the reincarnation, some firefighters had returned from the burning building and announced another Pokemon dead. The shining silver Pokemon known as Lugia had burned to death as he was trying to escape the flames. The news was so sorrowful that to this day no one says that Lugia had perished in the flames, they instead state that he simply escaped the fire to the Whirl Islands. But the one who had been the most shocked was Ho-Oh.
After a mourning ritual, Ho-Oh retreated to the top of the Bell Tower, covered in her own tears.
When she landed, she expected to go inside the tower, but that was when she heard a voice.
"Pity about the Brass Tower."
Ho-Oh whirled around to see a man dressed in black, cape billowing out behind him in the high altitude winds. In his arms he carried a sleeping baby Lugia who seemed peaceful in the man's arms. Ho-Oh knew this man. She knew him very well.
"Burakku..."
Burakku whirled around, black eyes wild. Ho-Oh was startled by his expression, but continued. "Burakku you must know... I... I'm sorry! I really didn't mean too..."
He just smiled that same, twisted and horrifying smile and began to laugh. It was a heartless laugh, coming from the darkest corners of Burakku's heart. "Didn't mean too? Didn't mean too!? You must be joking! Of course you meant to, didn't you?" Ho-Oh didn't answer, she just stared at the ground solemnly, "Didn't you!?"
Ho-Oh flinched and noticed the baby had woken up. Burakku looked down upon it as it stared wide-eyed at him and he smiled even wider. "Oh you poor thing... You don't have a daddy anymore, do you? You just have a mummy who doesn't know where her heart lies.... I bet you want a new life now, don't you? I expect you don't want to be in this world anymore...." He hissed in delight as he continued, "Don't worry, Uncle Burakku can help you with that."
Ho-Oh's heart began to thump in her chest. The baby Lugia started to cry again and she took one step closer, "Get away from him, Barakku! Please, can we just settle this in a non-violent manner?"
Burakku's eyes looked to Ho-Oh, still wild with bloodlust. "I'm sorry, Ho-Oh, but it cannot be helped. This Pokemon was never meant to live, so he will die. Just as that fool that lived in the Brass Tower... A worthless life... All Pokemon have worthless lives, even you. What could be better than to just," He drew out a long and sharp dagger that he had probably crafted himself, "kill them?" He placed the cold blade on the baby's neck, making it utter a small whimper before shutting up. Ho-Oh took another step forward and as she did so, realization spread through her, "It was you? You had started the fire, not the lightning! I can't believe you..."
Burakku just laughed without emotion again, "You finally figured that out? Boy, you really are dumb." He made another chilling laugh before driving the blade deeper into the baby's throat, cutting some skin.
"Please, stop!" Ho-Oh cried, tears forming in her eyes, "For the love of Arceus, stop!"
Burakku ignored her and continued to drive the dagger deeper and Ho-Oh knew if he went any further that would be the end of the baby's little life. Ho-Oh decided words would not help and switched onto the offensive side.
"Burakku... Put that weapon down, now!" She shouted.
He gazed back at her with a crooked smile and simply said, "No."
Ho-Oh screamed in fury and attacked Burakku, driving him against the hard wood roofing of the Bell Tower top. His dagger flew from his hand and he yelled a numerous amount of curses before diving for it. As he was scrambling around in the dark of the night, Ho-Oh managed to grab the barely conscious baby and hoist it gently on her back. Swiftly, she took off and flew in the direction of the Whirl Islands.
Burakku finally grabbed a hold of the dagger and whipped around laughing evilly to see only emptiness. He screamed in outrage as he saw the flying form of Ho-Oh carrying a smaller Pokemon on her back.
"This isn't over! Our business hasn't been finished yet, Ho-Oh! You can count on that!"
Ho-Oh flew on to the Whirl Islands and gave the baby Lugia to the colony of Lugia. A couple was willing to take care of the baby and they raised him as their own. He never remembered Ho-Oh as his mother, but she did visit him often and the parents would always say she was a friend of theirs.
After she had given her child a loving home, she retreated back to Ecruteak. It was almost dawn by the time she got there and as she landed in an empty street, she saw a black figure approach her.
He chuckled heartlessly as he neared closer. "You know I will find that wretched child, Ho-Oh."
Ho-Oh sighed and just went on to the point, "Burakku... Why did you burn down the Brass Tower? Why did you want to kill my son?"
Burakku growled, "That was supposed to be our son, but no, you decided it was only fair to look for someone else. Was I just some sort of experiment to play with? Is that it? Am I just a thing to you?"
"No, Burakku, you're more than that..."
"Really? Because it doesn't seem that way."
He unsheathed the dagger from before, "Why don't we just settle this now, hm?" He hissed.
Ho-Oh took one step back, "Burakku... Put it down, words are more powerful than actions."
"Shut up, I don't care about you anymore... I just want your blood on this dagger... Surrender, Ho-Oh, you will lose and you know it."
"No."
"Fine... Your death awaits."
He lunged for Ho-Oh, but she began to glow a brilliant white, blinding Burakku. She shot a giant ball of energy towards him, but this wasn't any ordinary Pokemon move, this was something that only Ho-Oh had the power to do.
It hit Burakku and a bloodcurdling scream escaped his mouth and then... Nothing.
His body fell down with a thud on the ground, eyes blank and non-focused. Ho-Oh was panting as she gazed at his body. He wasn't dead, but his soul had been ripped from his body. And right beside his body was a dark cloud of evil energy. This was his soul; it had been corrupted once he thought of revenge on Ho-Oh and killed Lugia. There was no way Ho-Oh could purify it now, it was beyond helping.
Soul-sucking was one of the worst ways of punishment. It was even worse than dying itself because without a soul you were nothing. You had no emotion, no pain, no anything. You could stand and walk sure, but you were just blank and distant...
"Ho-Oh... Come here..." The soul lured, but Ho-Oh didn't take the bait. She shook her head and the soul made a chilling laugh that would echo in Ho-Oh's mind forever. And with that, it was gone.
Ho-Oh knew if the soul didn't find another body to live in, it would melt away into nothingness. But the soul knew that, and it would find people and Pokemon with weakened souls to live in, then it would keep jumping to another body without stopping. It was a never-ending cycle of seeking that wouldn't stop until someone purified the soul so it would simply float off to the Heavens...
Since the incident, Burakku's soul changed its name to The Shadowmancer and was the main reason for hate in the world. Ho-Oh knew it was all her fault, but she wouldn't kill herself for it like many people would've done.
As Burakku's soul vanished from view, Ho-Oh looked down at his soulless husk he left behind. Black eyes stared blankly ahead at nothing, mouth open and body sprawled out on the concrete. He looked dead, but Ho-Oh knew the body would move at any time.
As the pink rays of the sun peeked over the horizon and Ho-Oh readied herself to take off once more, a glint caught her eye. She looked down and saw a glistening diamond ring that had come from a box from Burakku's coat pocket. Ho-Oh's eyes began to water. Burakku had wanted to marry her, but he had never gotten the chance.
Ho-Oh closed her eyes and with pain welling up inside her, she took off once more into the lightening sky.
There sat a black swivel chair, the person that sat inside faced the front where screens showed many mazelike hallways. A pale hand was petting the head of a small Houndoom.
Suddenly, the door to the room opened and a man dressed in all black stepped in. “Sir,” It addressed.
“What is it?” The hidden person asked dully.
“Only a couple Legendaries were affected… We have no clue why.” The man said.
“What?” The pale hand froze on the Houndoom’s head.
“Here… I have a list of the Legends affected.” The man handed over a clipboard that held a sheet of paper. The pale hand grabbed it and the shadowy eyes scanned the paper, reading the fine print.
The figure made a sly smile, “Well, well, well… Seems we have all my favorite Legendaries, keep an eye on them.”
He waved a hand to dismiss his messenger, and the man saluted once before stepping out and closing the door behind him.
The figure in the swivel chair began to pet his Houndoom again, smiling a toothy grin as he though of his plan.
He reached into his pocket and grabbed a cigarette pack. He took one and reached into his other pocket where he brought out a lighter. He lit it and puffed out a smoke ring, filling the air with a smoky smell.
“Well… Seems this plan is going well…” He said in a silky smooth voice.

***********
***********

Present Day
There sat a black swivel chair, the person that sat inside faced the front where screens showed many mazelike hallways.
“The Legends won’t see it coming…”
