What is your ideas about time travel in anime? Are you want more time travel stories? What would be the best time travel story for pokemon? Discuss...

Re: Time travel...

TBH, only if they dealt with battling and captures and maybe shippings with older characters.

It'd be nice to go back and see older Grand Festivals, Leagues, how Misty caught Staryu, Starmie, and Goldeen. How May might have did in Johto.

Things like that. Nothing filler wise, though.

Re: Time travel...

I've actually never really liked the idea of time travel in the animé. It has always bored me and I'd very much appreciate it if they left that sort of plot to rest.

Re: Time travel...

That time travel episode in AG was really unbelievable IMO, even for Pokémon. I did like the time traveling in 4th movie a lot, and the 13th movie sounds cool too. So, it depends on how they handle it. But no changing the past, thank you.

Re: Time travel...

No more time travelling, dear god. It was done well in the 4th movie, but every other instance of time travel used in the show was ridiculous and the writers keep writing themselves into a big black plothole.

Re: Time travel...

Pokemon doesn't know how to handle time traveling very well. It was done well in the fourth movie, but otherwise, it was just ridiculous.

Re: Time travel...

They don't have any intention on writing any hard rules on time travel, they choose what would make a good story.

There were two in AG, one good and one very bad. I guess you forgot the good one, that mid-Houen Yajiron episode.

But yeah, time travel plots are hard to do right, and the Pokemon anime writers have a rather bad track record, so yeah, I'd rather they didn't make more.

Re: Time travel...

The series is unable to handle "time travel" plots. They tried doing so with the fourth movie, a "Hosou" episode with Ritchie, and May going back in time with Meowth and Squirtle.
We all expected what happened in the end of each plotline, and sad to say it wasn't enjoyable nor entertaining.

Don't forget the Claydol filler.

To be honest Time Travel is so difficult to handle it shouldn't be messed around with. I didn't like the time travel aspect of the 12th movie. It didn't make sense to me.

Re: Time travel...

If that'd happen, Unown Lord would die from happiness. I'm sure of it.

I myself don't like the concept of time travelling in pokémon ver much, so I wouldn't like it in the anime either.

Re: Time travel...

The problem with the way this show handles time travel is that the writers don't seem to understand the concept of the butterfly effect. You can't have characters going around in the past and saving people's lives and then return to a present where the only difference is the fact that the person who was dead before time slip is now alive and breathing. I know I'm talking about a theoretical phenomenon here, but...that's not how time travel works.

Hmm Time traveling, what do others picture? Shipping :p
Maybe villains here and there too cuz I like action, lots of action.

I'd like if only for the fact it'd be the only way we'd see older versions of the characters.

Butterfly effect is overrated. Probably some things would change, but nothing big, especially if that guy was just an average Joe in a big city.

Also, you can't say "that's how time travel works" is it's impossible to proove how time travel works =P
