So - for some reason the game has a mechanic where you tip various NPCs, I've noticed it most with the Photo Guy, who I always tip for fear he might stop showing up if I don't, and the occasional Café.

Does anyone know if it actually impacts the game beyond being a way to spend the huge piles of money you can get on something other than hats?

There's the poetry dude in the Parfum Palace as well. No idea if tipping does anything though.

I think one of the leakers a while back said it had something to do with shinies? I can't remember clearly, don't quote me on it.

Yeah, someone said shinies. Maybe that's how so many people have shinies? Maybe the rate increases a set amount based on what you pay, and increases chances in the grass around the area.

I noticed we've seen shiny Espurr, Honedge, which are both outside of Parfum Palace where you can tip the minstrel. I tipped him 100, seeing if I run into one now...

I don't think the shiny thing was anything more than speculation. Not that that means it's definitely false, but it's not confirmed either.

Yeah, I haven't seen anything. Then again, I only tipped 100. People do seem to be getting a lot of shinies, but maybe the chances were increased.

I haven't seen one shiny yet and I've been tipping a a thousand to everyone didn't even know about the shiny part just kinda got guilted into tipping though I have seen zapdos a few times but he runs before you can get your pokemon out

Most of the time I don't tip much, or at all.

But that one guy in Coumarine who played Emotions from BW? I gave him the biggest tip. Got me right in the feels.

I feel bad when I can't tip in real life, so I always tip the maximum amount whenever I can. 8U I'm not worried about shinies, my main team is already set.

Ditto. I'm still early enough that I don't often tip max, but I got so upset when I accidentally clicked "no" once that I went back and tipped them extra.

Makes three of us. I'm just as much a sap in the gaming world as I am in real life. So yeah, I'm kind of a big tipper.

Lol funny reading how you folks in the US tip the max amount. :) One of the big differences between British and American culture is the tipping.
I mean it does occur here but it's not that common, whereas in the states you tip for everything don't you, it's like a national mindset!!!

Don't tip in real life, not gonna tip in game either.

I tip everyone either 100 or 1000 Pokedollars to everyone, haven't found a shiny yet. Not that I care, just want to make them happy.

I just tip the maximum amount on everything, I don't really do any trainer customization so I've got tons of cash that isn't being used. I haven't found a shiny yet though, I didn't know it did anything.

I don't think it has much to do with shiny Pokemon. I've found two shinies in just 2 days of owning the game, and I have not tipped anyone at all.

I tip a lot in real life,so it came naturally to tip depending on the amount of PokeMoney I have.
