Title is pretty self explanatory. Share your tips and tricks for the games.

I've got a few for difficulty. These are mainly aimed at X/Y, but some work for older games.

#1-Set your battle mode (in options) from shift to set. For example, when its on shift, if your opponent's Pokemon faints (does not happen if both faint at the same time :p) then at the end of the turn, it will ask 'Diantha is going to send out Goodra. Will you shift Stunfisk out?' or something like that, set turns that off. This will give your opponent a turn if you switch, which may affect the whole battle.

#2-Don't use Exp. Boosting methods. Lucky Egg, Pokemon-Amie and traded Pokemon, to name. Exp. Share shouldn't be used, especially in Gen VI, where it is pretty broken. The traded Pokemon rule can be extended to event Pokemon, like the Torchic. If you want to stretch it further, in-game gifts can be banned too. Like Lucario and Lapras in X/Y, but they don't get extra Exp. Whatever floats your boat.

#3-Use the same amount of Pokemon as the Gym Leader. This tends to only work with GLs, as there is a increase in between E4 and Champ. With tip #1, this can be a nightmare, especially a certain blond haired inventor's magnet creature. Though a Flash/Grassy Terrain Florges can stall it suprisingly good.

#4-If a Pokemon is used in an important battle, it's permanently on your team. This tends to be annoying if your team is weak to the last GL.

#5-Use Pokemon outside your comfort zone. I enjoy sweepers, with tanks, I feel out of touch. Or using Pokemon you never used before. Or be a n00b and use super powerful 'mons like Magikarp and Farfetch'd.

#6-Don't use legends. In X/Y, you could expand this too Blaziken, and even Mega Evos. Using Megas only in battles with Mega using trainers feels awesome.

#7-Don't use healing items, or limit them. This especially gets irritating in the E4, so I cheat and heal between E4s. Not in the battles.

#8-Do a challenge! Nuzlockes, Solo Runs, Mono-Types, Bi-Types (3 of one type, 3 of another. Like Delphox, Pyroar, Talonflame, Dragalge, Goodra and Noibat), Tri-Types (2 of each type, like Delphox, Talonflame, Dragalge, Noivern, Carbink and Aurorus) or even challenges with only pure Pokemon (Like Goodra, Raichu, Octillery) or dual-types. Get creative!

I do most of these, 1, 2, 6 and 7. Not sure on 4, but I don't get Pokemon just for one gym then ditch them if that counts. I get a team at the beginning and use them all the way through if that counts.

My main tip for gameplay during any Pokemon game is just to have a party with balanced levels. No need for a level 50 Charmander and a level 20 Pidgeotto.

My general tip of Pokemon main series games (actually, all sorts of RPG games), is level up your whole team (note: WHOLE! not just one or selective member of your team) to at least 5 levels higher than the average opponents on the road. That is the most basic and yet efficient way to clear the game without too much difficulty.

And for me personally, I don't know why, but starting from GenI game, I always train my team to at least 10 levels higher than the Gym Leaders. Then up to the Pokemon League, I'll be 20 levels higher than the Elite Four. Yeah, a bit boring in the battles, but never had difficulties.
Ah, and forget to say, I train my main team using normal methods, no Lucky Egg nor Exp.Share, and no cheating.

I didn't used the Exp Share, set battle mode to Set, i barely used the Pokemon Amie, like one or two times, didn't used any Mega evo, used only Gen 6 pokemon and i had a rule that i only use the same aumont of healing items as my opponent like 2 Hyper Potions or 2 Full Restores and also no Revives during a battle. I gotta say it made game much harder when compared to other games, my pokemon were always at the same level as my opponents and even sometimes i was underleveled and got a bunch of times close to defeat.
