To Import...or not to Import....

I got 50$, found a reliable site to order Japanese Games (Play Asia).

However, I am very wishywashy, and I can't decide to import or not, reasons as follows....

Pros
*Game won't come out for another 6 months in the US.
*More people then I thought are importing.
*Region Free.
*Can learn some Japanese.
*Experienced with Pokemon games, and can find my way around.

Cons
*Worried about getting bored from it before I get the english version, unlikely to happen as this game looks huge, not too mention if I can get Ruby then Emerald and have fun the same amount. But still....
*Afraid that the English GBA games can't send Pokemon to the Japanese DP.

So, thoughts? Should I import or not?
 
I know attacks, names, and all the important stuff. And I'm gonna try to translate some text, I beat my friends Japanese RS easily....
 
It takes about a week to ship from Play-Asia and then another few days to a week for you get to your order. This is of course, from my own experience and it could change depending on your location.
 
I live on the East Coast, would that make it faster?
 
I say what the heck, I think I am going to do it if i have the extra money... I mean by the time you get it there will likely be walkthroughs to help you out and such, and perhaps even some translations of attacks etc... how hard can it be to learn?
 
I've used Play Asia's new Fed-ex method and got it in about 1-2 days from shipping (and PA usually ships the day before), but I'm in California. It'd be nice if they gave us the pre-order bonus too, but I doubt it! NCSX could be faster if you're on the East Coast/Central, so who knows..

Umm.. I was in the same boat as you last year as I borrowed my friends Ruby version and only decided to play half-way through (he happened to know japanese well though).

Either way it didn't break my excitement for the english version, and I'm confident for this one that if I beat the Japanese one then it won't matter because I'm getting the opposite version that I'm getting for the US. I also usually buy versions like Emerald and Crystal dispite having Sapphire and Gold. Then also I've dl the emulator to start-over multiple times and mess with cheat codes.

So I'm sure I won't get bored with it. However this is me.. but I doubt you'd get bored with it either.
 
If I wanted to get the game in the first week of release, how much would I have to pay?

And I played Ruby for 99 hours, and played Emerald for 100 hours, so I doubt boredom will be a problem for me....lol
 
I've had bad experiences with both NCSX and Play-Asia, so who knows...

Of course, I also happen to never had lived on the New Continent.
 
I say take the risk, it might not hurt that much, if you don't get your full money's worth, (I think).
 
I'll look up the prices for you to get an idea (either way its expensive):
*I'm paying: $68.20 for Diamond plus Fedex Shipping... which is high (but the game is $48.90)
*The Cheapest is $50.50... which takes up to 10 days (usually close to).. which feels like a long time.. x_x;;
*at NCSX shipping is different depending on location, and the game is $49 even.. (but that's a guess because I couldn't find the pre-orders on their site)
-ups ground is about $57.05 which adverages 5-7 days for me
-3 day select is $56.03... which is odd for some reason..
-next day is $67.80
(I'm guessing these are about the same for east coast, but for me it cost a lot more)

If you want cheap, try YesAsia, they are trust worthy... but I think they have horrible quality shipping!
The game may be $43.99 when they allow for pre-orders and they have free shipping (which can be really slow) and speed shipping of 1-3 days for a total of $52.98.

But like I said, I hate their shipping methods! Every order I've ordered from them has had at least one item damaged (usually I order CDs and I find one of the cases broken.. but CD is fine.. but that's besides the point)! DS games will probably be fine.

but now you made me think about waisting my money on this! Most likely stupid/annoying, but it looks so cool!
 
Hmm, I've ordered CDs/DVDs from YesAsia twice, nothing got damaged, and it arrived in reasonable time (though it was at the upper end of the expected shipping times). Then again, I'm a 3-hour flight away from Hong Kong. :-)

I think I will order from Play Asia this time, since they have a lower price compared to Lik Sang; both are offering me free shipping...
 
I guess I'll go with Play Asia, I can wait ten days for it, I'll be busy with SATs I won't have much time to play it on release date anyway.
