And other Toku I'm not aware of outside of the most common! I didn't see many relevant threads on tokusatsu franchises anywhere, so I decided to make one because I know you toku fans exist!

Personally, I'm more of a Kamen Rider fan than I am a fan of Super Sentai, especially after Ninninger kinda got too silly for its own good. My favourite main Riders are Double, Fourze, Gaim and Drive.

Zyougher is actually pretty good so far, despite the talking animal heads. The Mecha fights are suprisingly neat, using the cube form to tank their way to the enemy without taking damage, and Reds aerial stunts give us views of the battle as a whole, and there are a lot of team fighting shots, way less 1 on 1. You should really jump to it, Red isn't an idiot for once.

As far as I know, Zyuoh Eagle is also the only human present on the team, correct? (At this time, anyway; only time and magazine reveals will tell us if Zyuoh TheWorld is also a human or not...)
Also, talking animal heads? Are they sentient companions akin to the Engines in Go-Onger?

I think I've been enjoying Ghost too much to care about finishing Ninninger, but I might just skip it and come back at a later point to at least see what the End Shuriken actually looks like. I don't want spoilers on that in spite my general non-caring attitude, though.

I meant the Zyumans. Doggie Kruger didn't jive with me then, and the Zyumans didn't jive with me now. Their human state is around enough for me to accept them I guess. As for Zyuoh the World, I would guess its either the Uncle who is secretly Eagle, or Eagle is a separate character. Either way its definitely e
Eagle, we see him pick up the sixth cube in the first episode, desite the different changer.

Random question. Favourite Super Sentai team cannon? Mine has to be the GokaiGalleon Buster.

Is this an inappropriate bump, mods? If so, I apologise. This topic hasn't seen activity D:

Started watching Zyuohger a day back. I'm liking the motifs already, all pixels and cubes. Heck, the villainous motive is a "Blood Game"! @Mitchman The Zyumans, I don't have a problem with so far. I guess humanoid animal alien things currently don't faze me... Though it does get a bit weird when I realise there's an entire planet of 'em.

When I saw Zyuoh Eagle transform and fight for the first time, all I could think of was Jetman, even though the only instance in which I saw 'em was in Gokaiger. Even the EagRiser shared the visual effect used by the Bringer Swords in Gokaiger!
In terms of the mecha... Yeeeeeah. The toy version is most certainly interesting, if nothing else. By which I mean it's super bulky.

I'll watch episodes 3 and 4 at a later point in time, but for now I'm waiting for the next episode of Kamen Rider Ghost to drop - I'm super curious on how the Grateful Damashii will look in action.

The blood game is ruthless, if the Zyuohger did not exist Earth would bw flattened within a day for sure. Bit upset though that the supersizer isn't a giant arrow from their spaceship and just Narin putting a coin in for another life.

Haha, akin to that giant beam from Zangyack?

Oh yeah, also, those coins - to me they look like yet another instance of recycled Cell Medals from Kamen Rider OOO. Hell, they even insert the coins into the kaijin almost like Greeed do to humans and objects when creating a Yummy!

I've seen the first half of Kamen Rider Ryuki and I liked it, but I dropped it due to other obligations...and it seemed dead set on dragging its story out and stretching itself really thin. I do remember my sisters and I watching Power Rangers a lot when we were kids.

Sentai 4 life bby.

I don't care for PR, never really liked it though without DT, I wouldn't be where I am today with Sentai and a lot of my life, so I thank it for that.

Been watching weekly since Gokai, though I'm hilariously behind on Ninnin and therefor Zyuohger. Have seen a decent chunk though~

I also like Rider, but it's not got the same place in my heart as Sentai so I tend to be more critical of it at times. Biases lol

I most recently completed Kakuranger, anyway. I should report back when I'm getting closer to being caught up with things...

I honestly don't blame you. Of all things, I prefer Kyoryuger over Ninninger, and I dislike(d) Kyoryuger a lot more than other Sentai series that I've watched (save for Goseiger, I like to pretend that doesn't exist).

On a side note, I should probably edit Ultraman and other things into the title...

....I like both of those shows a lot

And yes you probably should. Poor Ultraman always being left out...

Well then. Spoilers for Episode 22 (and a couple episodes back) of Kamen Rider Ghost.
Serious family issues this time... Adel kills his own father, proclaims himself as the new emperor of the Ganma World, destroys his younger brother's Ganma Eyecon (the one containing his soul, mind you, forcing him to wake up in his real body) and then proceeds to blame him for Adonis' death. I think it's motivated by jealousy and warped beliefs.

Considering the possibility of Sennin being one and the same as commander Edith, perhaps his loyalty to Adonis will come into play? All I know is that we're getting the Grateful Damashii next episode (with a completed Eyecon Driver G), and our tertiary Kamen Rider is now an ally.

I personally have little idea about previous Sentai series', and Zyuohger is the only one I am actively watching. Will amend that though, starting from Go Busters, and maybe watching the earlier stuff later on depending on what I'm reccomended to watch or see differences between PR and the original series', as i have seen PR up to RPM.
As for Zyuohger, am I crazy for thinking that this is a legitimately good show? I went in with expectations that its going to basically be PR with a more sensical plot, and instead I'm getting interesting characterizations, genuine relationships between characters, villains that don't give a shit and kill anything they want, and 40 year tropes being broken like twigs. Mecha at the start of the episode, MOTW being defeated in a one on one without the mecha, huge aerial shots and lots of group of group fights with minimal focus on split focus between characters in a fight the list just goes on and on. Again, I'm not crazy and this is a legit series right? I've heard thst go busters is similar in this regard, so I might have to give it a shot for sure.

Ironically, while Go-Busters takes many elements from its western counterpart of Power Rangers, it was skipped in favour of Dino Charge, the Kyoryuger adaptation. Insane. Even to this day, I still don't know if they actually implemented elements from Go-Busters like they said they would...

If you want my personal recommendation, if you haven't already, go watch Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger - 35 series of Super Sentai packed into one. Strangely enough, the Tohoku Earthquake actually affected the development of this show - a Twitter was made so a person could send encouraging tweets in-character from various toku heroes, and while I may have some of the details wrong on it, a whole string of that lead to the Twitter being spread around, as well as word of Gokaiger to other Sentai alumni. Essentially, they only planned for tribute episodes spanning a selection of series, but beyond that, people started contacting Toei to see if they could be featured on the show - and by the end, at least one person from every single Sentai had been featured in the show!
My personal favourite episodes from that show are the Go-Onger tribute episodes, featuring the debut of Engine No. 13, Machalcon, and the final key to the ultimate formation of GokaiOh.

I had no idea about Gokaiger having gone through such a thing. I was holding off on it perhaps after watching enough of the old content to make the return cameos more impactful. Like I said, I've seen up to RPM in the PR format, with some blanks like Jungle Fury. I dunno if I want to watch too many series' after Dekaranger though, from Magiranger up to Shinkenger I loathe the designs of the rangers and mecha. Maybe I'm wrong, and I should watch some stuff like Go-Onger, where I have heard nothing but praise. And is Goseiger really that bad? I love the designs there the most post post Dekaranger.

I love Super Sentai, especially the ones with a "Creature" motif.
My favorite out of them is either Go-Onger, Magiranger, Gaoranger, Dairanger, or Kyoryuger.

And is Goseiger really that bad?
If it's anything, I stopped watching it after a couple of episodes 'cause I couldn't take it, lol. Its intro also really, really sucks (the song itself is good, it's just...5 frames per second for some ungodly reason).

Maybe I'm wrong, and I should watch some stuff like Go-Onger, where I have heard nothing but praise.
Interesting... I haven't heard many opinions on Go-Onger, but I personally like it a lot. It's probably because its English counterpart, RPM, introduced me to the double 6th Rangers (the Ranger Operators/Go-On Wings) and I always liked their designs in particular, and it's an overall silly series (somehow being... even weirder in Japanese than in English, if you can believe it...de ojaru). Oh, and the mecha actually speak unlike their English counterparts.

That's partly where the Turbo Falcon Zord's voice comes from - it's a remnant of Go-Onger and Gokaiger that they had to implement into Super Megaforce due to its role in the original episodes being a rebel that needed taming.

Edit: A little more on Go-Busters. As part of their elements taken from Power Rangers, their personal mecha are known as MegaZords - and so are the mecha of their enemies, the Vaglass (which serve as a stand-in for kaijin upsizing in that show in particular... You'll get it when you watch an episode). In the VS movie crossing over with Gokaiger, they also get the MegaZord Keys, which are Ranger Keys depicting Sentai mecha of the past - retroactively naming them MegaZords just like their western counterpart.
One of them turns Buster Hercules into MagiKing, a reference to Masato Jin's actor playing Tsubasa Ozu in Magiranger (complete with him doing the hand gesture).

So basically I should be glad I dropped out of PR cause it became a mess after awhile, jumbling plots and series together, and Go-Busters is going to be something special. Gotcha.

It kinda makes me sad, too, because it's heavily implied they'll skip ToQger as well - and I really liked that series in particular! If it does go like that, it means they'll be adapting Ninninger next... *shudders*
