It bothers me how the number of legendary pokemon in each generation keeps increasing. What bothers me even more is the increased number of Nintendo event exclusive pokemon that come with this growing number...
ITG = introduced the generation (in % of new pokemon)
PLT = legendaries Cumulative at the time (in % of total pokemon)
Gen I had only 5: 3 legendary birds, Mewtwo and Mew. Mew, when pokemon was first released in Japan, was mostly unknown to even exist in the game's programing (according to bulbapedia)
* 5, 3.33% ITG, 3.33% PLT
Gen II: 3 Beasts, 2 new birds, and Celebi. Celibi is Insanely hard to get outta Japan without cheating, obtaining starts to get rediculus...
* 6, 6.00% ITG, 4.38% PLT
Gen III: 3 Regis, 3 Weather, 2 Eon(?), Jirachi (possible only for a limited time only) and Deoxys (Nintendo event...).
*10 (Two trios? really?), 7.41% ITG, 5.44% PLT
Gen IV: 3 Lake, 3 Dragon, 2 "lunar", Manaphy, Phione, Regigigas, Heatran, Shaymin, Arceus
*15 (C'mon...), 14.01% ITG, 7.30% PLT
Crunching the numbers it seems rediculus that for every 7 new pokemon in Gen IV there is 1 legendary... If trends follow anything like this we will have so many "legendaries" we won't know what to do with.
Legendaries are even starting to get redundant... Mew was supposed to be the descendant of all Pokemon now they have to ret-con it so arceus is the maker of all. How are they gonna try and top legendaries next? how can they?
"Gotta catch 'em all" gets exceedingly difficult with the abundance of event exclusive Pokemon that are hardly obtainable by all...
Anyways thats my rant...
