Toonami/Adult Swim - Uncut "Naruto" @12:30 from Dec. 1

Are they planning to use the uncut episodes they released on DVD years ago? If so, then I'll wait until they start showing Shippuden. Also, shouldn't this be in the anime section?

I noticed another Toonami thread in this section so I created it here. Respective mods, please feel free to move it if you like.

Regarding Shippuden, according to Jason, Disney still holds the Shippuden rights so they can't air it, until DC have rights.
Not to mention, Adult Swim had to 'buy' the rights for the old episodes, but I am guessing it costed a bit cheaper that's why they went for Naruto.

I don't particularly care for Naruto, but this has been one of the better choices they've made for the block, especially when it probably will give them some nice ratings. I've been watching Toonami since it returned. I wasn't a fan of the block when it aired in the past, but since I didn't think it would come back, I thought that I'd give my support by watching it, especially when there's only a small amount of people working it on. I may watch Naruto to see if it works for me more than it did when I saw a few episodes on Cartoon Network, but at the moment, I just hope it does well enough so that they can get uncut One Piece on the block at some point. I've only seen the first season redubbed, but it would be pretty awesome if they could eventually air that series on Toonami, especially when they're willing to air Naruto again.

Yeah, I hope they bring back One Piece, funimation dub of course.
Official Toonami Tumblr mentioned at one point that their budge is pretty tight, so the programming line-up staff has to be very careful about the shows they pick.

I think this is a good choice for Toonami. I use to watch Naruto all the time on the old Toonami block and always wanted to see the uncut version. While I haven't particularly cared about the series past at least episode 100 something, but I might give it a try again now it's uncut.

It just occurred to me... They are also launching an exclusive Toonami channel in Asia on Dec. 1. I guess Naruto relaunch will be coinciding with the channel's launch.

Edit: Nevermind, they're not related, as confirmed by the official Adult Swim/Toonami tumblr. But still, if the shoe fits, wear it.

I'd personally much prefer Toonami playing One Piece or Dragon Ball Z Kai uncut, but bringing Naruto back is actually rather ingenious, now that I think about it.

chdr Asked: Just to put this rumor to rest: did the filler actually have a significant detrimental effect on Naruto's ratings or the block's performance in general? I hear it repeated all the time and I'm kind of doubtful as to its veracity.

Answer: Any and all stories about Naruto in any way being wholly or partly responsible for Toonami’s cancellation, are false! We know that not having details about a key piece of Toonami’s history can be frustrating, but we’d rather fans didn’t fill that void with conjecture. Thanks for asking!

This is good news, even though I personally think they should have started Naruto uncut with Shippuden, since they already completed the original Naruto before it went into filler hell.

before it went into filler hell.
I was wondering the same thing but thanks to their Tumblr:
Question: Anonymous Asked: I know that paring two popular Shonen anime together will result in favorable ratings, though I'm afraid that once Naruto ends up in the filler arc, people might stop watching. Any thoughts on this?

Answer: Well, a lot of you guys are worried about that. What we’d ask you to keep in mind is that at one episode a week, the “filler arc” is about three years away! We’ll keep an eye on that, but it’s a while before we have to worry about it! :)

Understandable, but the original Toonami was cancelled right before the filler arc actually ended, and then Disney XD got a hold of Naruto Shippuden about two years or so later, but it was so edited heavily it was barely watchable, that and not that long into the series it was put into a late night death slot on Saturday night at 11:00 PM, and then was cancelled once they got into the Hidan/Kazuku fight, and it's timeslot was replaced by Suite Life of Zack and Cody reruns.

Since then, I've completely lost my place in the Naruto series, I don't remember where I was when I last watched the series, or even when I last read the Naruto manga, I forget where I was there (I was somewhere early in the Shinobi Civil War arc). It would take me at least 99% of my free time for the next three or so months just to catch up on the anime if I started on the first episode of Shippuden just now, and that's only if I watch the anime (the manga would take even longer, even if I skimmed). I've seen and completely remember the original Pre-Shippuden Naruto, so I don't have to watch it again, it's only Shippuden I need to catch up on... a LOT...

Really happy for this. Always loved Naruto. While people bash it for fillers it has a lot less fillers then Bleach and its big brother Shippuden. I mean yeah the last 100 eps are filler but the amount of filler in the main 130 eps is hardly any tbh. Anyway glad to see it on Toonami again. :D

Count me in. I really liked Naruto before Sasuke went to the dark side.
(Even after the fillers ended, Shippūden just wasn't that great)
