Because these are always hilarious, and the front page of the forums is severely lacking in hilarity.

ITT, we post infamous/hilarious/completely inconsistent with reality plot devices in the anime.

I'm not going to do AIM FOR THE HORN and THUNDER ARMOR because those are boring.

How about

FINISH IT OFF WITH FALSE SWIPE

I'm not seeing what's wrong with that.

Then again, I don't know pokemon moves like the back of my hand.

False swipe is a move that always leaves a Pokemon a 1 hp.
If a pokemon has 1 hp, even if false swipe hits, the target will still be left with 1 hp.

Which is why it's an EPIC FAIL in all regards.

False Swipe cannot knockout a Pokemon no matter what.

It could've been a dub error but I'm not sure.

Hmm... What to put. I'm sure others will think of some fairly obvious additions, but for me at the moment I can't recall.

I suppose you could add things like Pokemon not receiving recoil damage after things like Take Down and Double-Edge (even from repeated uses).

What about some Pokemon constantly being able to use Hyperbeam over and over again without recharging?

Or Solarbeam magically powering up in seconds without any light gathering?

I hate these two so much, but I'm willing to let Solar Beam slide a bit more because it's still kind of stupid you need to charge it when it's just a Grass Flamethrower/Ice Beam. But I really do despise that Hyper Beam is the anime's default move for any powerful Pokemon.

I thought thunder armor in that Tate and Liza episode was one?

ETA: Oh you brought it up.

How is something supposed to have recoil damage if it doesn't even do damage to the opponent, or did you forget that recoil damage moves only work if the user actually dealt damage to the opponent. The only one that might've looked fishy was the final one, but it's been proven that evolution does restore some health. So that might explain why Metang did show any visual recoil damage. It's like Pikachu's Volt Tackle, if it uses it first its not going to have any effect on Pikachu because its at full health.

Whoa, chill out. The link I posted was simply the one that came to mind the fastest. Beldum is the premier Take Down user after all, but we've seen the likes of Arcanine, Phanpy/Donphan, Steelix use it too. And it was more to the point that a move that damages the Pokemon from use does its effect only when it's going to alter the fight. There'll be times where Volt Tackle's recoil is conveniently neglected. For all the times we've seen it done the right way, like Brock's Sudowoodo being protected from its Double-Edge with Rock Head, we get all the little screw ups in return. They've been good with Brave Bird I'll admit, but numerous uses of Take Down/Double-Edge and stuff like Hammer Arm aren't consistant.

But forget that, let's talk about all the Ghost-on-Normal attacks and Normal-on-Ghost attacks that happen.

And how in the world would they have explained that in the TV series without it being overly clunky, exposition-ally, and robotic? They way they did it was fine.

You guys do realize that some things just work better in the games, right?

I know this sounds crazy but...

Before the introduction of the ability Lightning Rod, hitting Rhydon's horn actually sounds logical. If we assume that Rhydon's Ground typing comes from his extremely thick and tough skin, his horn, which presumably goes below its skin, connecting to its skeleton, really is a weak point.

Because the horn, when being hit with an Electric attack, acts as a conductor, bypassing the Pokemon's thick skin and thus making it vulnerable to Electric attacks...

But with Lightning Rod even this explanation isn't enough...

That take down, beldum moment was the most annoying part of the anime, not because of Beldum but because the voice actors voices gave me a head ache

I have to say, I did feel like "aim for the horn!" made a bit of sense - I mean, the horn does look metal, and we all know metal conducts electricity. I don't think the False Swipe one was so bad either :p

But thunder armour... man that was awful! How did that make any sense at all?!

most of the hoenn gyms did have deus exish type endings, that's one reason why i liked the jouto and sinnoh gym battles more, because Ash actually had to hit the enemy multiple times instead of "let's run around showing off and then i'll hit you once and you die" victories.

I agree. Rhydon getting affected like it did made a lot of sense when I first saw that episode and still does. Sure, it goes against the game rules but if we were to think it like how it would be in real life, it makes perfect sense.

I suppose if you crack open their rocky shells, most Rock/Ground Pokemon would be vulnerable to Electricity. Hasn't there been instances of Pikachu zapping some of them in the mouth to be effective?

Yes, Pikachu zapped a Rhydon in its mouth in the Orange Islands ep, "Bound for Trouble" when Pika/Meowth were being chased by a giant Rhydon.

Gym Battles / Frontier Battles give us most of the best endings. But my personal favorites:

Dodge that Swift!!
Dodge that Aerial Ace!!

The electric shield Thunder+swellow+Pika. That made no sense whatsoever, and I didn't even watch AG.
