toying around with an idea for a crossover fic

I've had ideas for fics before but I think I'm serious about doing this one. Making no promises on a timeframe though. :-p As a writer I'm not that experienced so I'm sticking with a fairly generic plot, but will probably be in several parts. (My first multi-part fic!) It's going to be a Spider-Man/Pokemon crossover, here's my idea:

-the Kingpin has the dimensional transporter rebuilt and (somehow) finds out about the Pokemon world
-he goes there, meets Giovanni, and the two enter into a "business agreement"; Kingpin wants to assemble an army of elite Pokemon trainers to establish a mega-base back in his dimension for his eventual takeover of the world (haven't worked out yet what Team Rocket will get out of this plan)
-Spider-Man also (somehow) finds out about the Pokemon world and that Kingpin has gone there
-some good-guy scientists build another dimensional transporter for Spider-Man to go there and stop the Kingpin (I know Madame Web could do this but I don't like her so I'm leaving her out)
-Spider-Man has a chance meeting with Prof. Oak, figures out he's one of the good guys, and explains the situation (possibly with a sighting of the Kingpin to prove it)
-Prof. Oak contacts Ash, Misty, and Brock, as well as the Elite 4, to join up with Spider-Man to try and stop the Kingpin and Team Rocket from carrying out their plans

What do you guys think?

That's an interesting idea, but kinda disturbing. And if you tie in Dr. Strange and (maybe) Dormammu you could get a legitimate tie in for travel to another reality.

Why is it disturbing? You guys apparently haven't seen the Secret Wars series. (I just watched the first 3 episodes of it on a rented VHS last night.) After that, I don't think my idea is too farfetched.

I think Mysterio might be somewhat more interesting. Venom and Carnage would be too damn beatable (for, say, Charizard and Crobat)

Well...I chose the Kingpin because I think he'd be the easiest to write about, plus pretty much all his plans are directly related to world domination.

Yeah, but he has never really cared about other dimensions. And keep in mind that the Secret Wars were controlled by a greater power than any of the heroes or villains present.

True...but The Spot was temporarily in his employ, and that was kinda like dimensional travel...

Also, I know nothing about Dr. Strange and Dormammu so I wouldn't be able to write about them.
