The October issue of Nintendo Power magazine announced participating Toys 'R' Us stores across the United States will give away the legendary Pokémon Manaphy Sept. 29.

Ok, no. Something is definitely wrong here. Think about it. First of all, how did someone get a hold of the October issue when it's not even September yet? Second, why would the October issue be announcing an event that takes place in September? Something isn't adding up here.

It comes out in September, like you said. And the event is near the end of September, so I think that's ample time. Anyway, it's a leak, or something like that. You've heard of leaks, right?

The issue comes out on the month before. For example, the February issue comes out in January.

Stupid Nintendo.
...huh? o.o

Anyway, I read this over on WPM's site and just got the issue in the mail. I love how it features a pic of Manaphy holding May's bandana from the ninth movie and says "The Pokémon will be holding a Red Scarf like the one in the animated feature". How cute, even if incorrect. ;P

So yeah, I'll definetly be heading on over to Toys R Us for this. It's a bit of a relief, since I'm too lazy to play all the way through Ranger. XP

Same here. I've got Ranger, but I'm unable to complete it(I'm stuck).

Very cool. I'm definitely gonna try to go, I went to the Mew giveaway too.

The only requirements are a DS, a copy of either Pearl or Diamond, and a Pokemon to trade for Manaphy, right?

Jees Nintendo, there's the wifi Mystery gift option. Although my wifi likes to screw me up in these crucial moments, atleast I'll be happy knowing you tried to level the playing field.

Have they confirmed yet whether this is going to be a wifi event, or a wireless one? I would hope it's wireless, since we can simply download the Pokemon from that, and not have to bother with trading. :p

I wonder if I'll be able to do it on my Japanese Pearl game too? I'll bring it along just in case. :3

While some websites are making claims, there's really no news of how the Manaphy will be given out. We'll have to wait until Pokemon-Games.com and ToysRUs.com update. Although, the Nintendo Power article does say "download." :p That doesn't really reveal anything, though.

The only "claim" made is the one about mystery gift, but as you said, it seems more than likely to be distributed that way anyway. The only reason for the archaic means of trading Mews to GBAs with link cables was to make sure everyone could get a Mew rather than just those with Emerald version or whatever it is.

Yeah, too bad they don't know how to quote/name their sources when they make their claims. Why wouldn't they want their updates to seem credible? Beats me. :\
Ahahaha. Starting an argument with WPM. Good job. :p

Anyway, one update earlier he had a similar news story on the same topic:
"The latest issue of Nintendo Power has confirmed a Toys R Us Manaphy giveaway for the United States, similar to the Mew giveaway last year. "

Unless, again, this is about the Mystery Gift thing which is REALLY trivial.

Anyway this is off-topic so that's the last I say about it.
