So I very recently (okay, like fifteen minutes ago) discovered the Trading Figure Game affiliated with Pokemon. I'd like to know a few things about the game before I go out there and spend, like, all my money on more Pokemon stuff. :p

So, is the game worth the money in people's opinions? Do a lot of people play? And where would I ever start getting boosters? I know that my regular gaming stores don't stock them, as I've been to all of them in the past week or so and did not see any.

I don't play... I just collect. It's nice having some good quality Pokemon figures, and they look beautiful. The gameplay is basically a glorified Rock Paper Scissors though.

My verdict? You get eye candy, but lose in the strategy department. As collectibles, they're worth the $4-$5 you pay for a figure, but the game is meh.

There's supposed to be a new set coming out soon... if PUSA hasn't killed the TFG altogether. Since Groundbreakers has been put off twice now.

Yeah, I tried to get into it. And than all the stores stopped stocking them only a couple weeks later. X.X I only got the two starter sets and a booster. I'd love to able to some day get all the figures, including the special variants and that one Groundbreakers set that was released early, but they're pretty pricey.

Gameplay's incredibly simple. I only played it a couple times, and it was rather tedious.

My main complaint was how fragile the figures were: the majority of figures I saw in stores were broken in some way or another. In addition, considering how expensive the packs were, having a random figure was rather annoying. Especially considering the figures in the boosters that they did show were always the same ones from a group of six or so, meaning if you were going to try to get all the figures the non-eBay route, you would have many many many copies of that small group and it would cost you an arm and a leg.

So yeah, poor planning pretty much killed the TFG. It's really a shame.

At the moment, it might be a good investment if you can get the figures cheap. Although currently pretty much no one plays, PUSA has stated that they are looking into setting up OP for the TFG, which would increase the popularity dramatically.
