Trainer names in English Version

Okay, there are threads for Rockets and Protagonists. Now I'm wondering about the names of Normal Trainers in English version. Most people don't give a fuck about them, indeed. But since there are hundreds of them in the game, they can't be called a "detail" and if they changed, many people who remember GSC well would probably WTF at them.

So, there are two possibilities for the Trainer Names in HGSS:

1. NoA will use the same names as in GSC and invent new ones for newcoming Trainers (that's my preferred option)

2. They'll recycle the names from DPPt, just like FRLG reused the Trainer names from RS, using the rule Same Japanese Name = Same English Name (for example, if an RS Trainer was called "Youngster Kenji" in Japanese and "Youngster John" in English version, then a FRLG Trainer named Kenji [a Camper, let's say] will also be called John in English). For the Trainers whose names didn't appear in DPPt (vast majority of HGSS Trainers), brand-new names will be invented.

The third option "They'll invent all brand-new names" is practically noexistant.

If NoA goes with the Option 1, the names will match the old ones used in GSC and everything will be consistent. If they use Option 2, all the Trainer names will change and we're gonna get hundreds of "all the Trainers from HGSS same as GSC ones?" questions from n00bish fans.

Of course, it's MILLION TIMES wiser to use the Option 1. But can we count on NoA's consistency?

I'm working on the list of HGSS Trainers, listing their names from GSC, their Japanese names and their potential new HGSS names (considering that NoA chooses the option 2) when predictable. It's halfway complete.

So, discuss.

I'm pretty sure all old characters will keep their old names. Of course, the titles will change I believe. (Cool Trainer to Ace Trainer, I think that's it...)

However, I can see them changing Blue to Green.

I'm talking about minor Trainers here. The ones whose names no one pays attention at.

As for major characters like Leaders and Elite Four, it's obvious that they won't change (the only ones in questions are Janine/Charine and Blue/Green).

I can open a different thread on possible name retcons but not here (we're discussing only normal Trainers here).

There were no Trainer Names in RBGY, to begin with. They only had titles.

I honestly don't care, but I'm curious about the Kimono Girls. (Do they count? They're *somewhat* important now.)

Sumomo was changed into Kumomo in the Japanese version. Then again, that was probably because Sumomo is Maylene's Japanese name and GF wanted to avoid confusion with her.
