So, what do you think the English names for the playable characters will be? Do you think they'll go for the Gen III-IV Generic Names, or will they go with the colors things again?

If you ask me, they'll do a mixture of both. The boy might be Blake and the girl Bianca (Italian for White).

There's already a character named Blake (the main antagonist from Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia). Maybe the boy will be Nigel (from niger, the Latin word for Black).

Edit: disregard that, didnt read correctly

As boring as it is, I would settle for just Black and white for their names

That'd be a tad controversial, if you ask me. Maybe Nero? (From Negro, Spanish for Black)

I'm pretty sure they won't have color names, they haven't done that in a long time. I like "Bianca" for the girl.

Eh, I wanna see what their Japanese names are first but looking at names that mean white for the girl...

Candice (taken), Gwen, Bianca, Jenna, Jennifer, Nola (?), and Whitney (also taken) are all names that can mean white or something along those lines.

I kinda like Gwen and Jenna the most but I dunno. I'd have to know what their Japanese names are gonna be before I can guess.

As for names that mean black/dark for the guy...

Cole, Doug, Dwayne, Kieran, Feardorcha (definitely not this one...)

I like Cole the most I guess.

Nigel is an actual name which is still in use today.

I know. But trust me, as small as it might be, Game Freak will be stopped by people not wanting the games to be called Black & White. There are always complaints.

I still think the girl should be called Amanda.

For the boy, eh..... Something that starts with a B. Can't think of anything right now, though.

There's a thread like this, but it's closed...

Ummmmm,
male: Zack/Zach?
female: Clarissa? -even though I still like Bianca

Derick (Dark corruption)
as for the female, Bianca is perfect.

male non-colour names have always been 2 syllables... Ethan, Lucas, Barry, Brendan, Wally... etc

While female names have been mostly 1 syllable, save for Lyra.

So I'm thinking the names will be
Mason and Rose

No guesses on the Japanese names yet?

If we're going by guy = black and girl = white, I like Yuuta (yuu can mean "evening/night") or Kazuya ("ya" can mean "night") for the guy, and Yukiko ("snow child") or Youko ("sun child") for the girl.

those actually aren't bad.

I don't think they'll adopt 'Black' and 'White' they like to play it safe after all. I think they'll just come up with some regular sounding names.

For the guy I'm liking 'Daryl' and for the girl, maybe 'Saskia'
I've liked all the names they've come up with so far.

How is Nigel more controversial when the name you suggested, you derived from a Latin-based language also meaning the same thing? Last I checked, people also took offense to the word negro, and niger isn't the "n-word"

And then there's this other Nero who has been called the Anti-Christ at some point in history, and though my history is bad, if I recall correctly, Nero wasn't a very nice guy, and that's an understatement.
