I have a DS Lite. I also have Pokemon Platinum for the DS and Pokemon Fire Red for the GBA, I can obviousbly play the GBA game on the DS lite, but can I transfer Pokemon from Fire Red to Platinum with just my DS or do I need a seperate console? Whichever pokemon I wanted to transfer?

And if so, can I get another DS and plug in the Fire Red into the DS and do a wireless transfer, or do I need a cable?

I have only recently got back into them, as I never completed Red, Blue, Green or Yellow as a kid and wanted to redo it.

cheers guys,

Bobby

Uhm... you put your FireRed into your DS/DS Lite, on the menu if you've gotten far enough there should be a button on the Main Menu saying migrate pokemon from ..... Select Pokemon (if they have HM moves you can't), go to Pal Park, and enter contest, catch Pokemon, beware you can't send them back to FireRed

Everything Milotic said. Especially the HM part, haha. Though I should also say that you won't be able to transfer pokémon from FireRed to Platinum until you have access to Pal Park-- which is after defeating the Elite Four. Also, you can only transfer pokémon once a day. If you mess with your DS clock, it notices and tells you that you have to wait and additional 24 hours.

But no, just your DS and games required! It's straightforward. :D Once you transfer them, you get to "catch" them in Pal Park. It's fun.

hmm.... you make it sound trickier than it sounds, it's super easy. :)
also make sure you've 'seen' all the pokemon in sinnoh dex.

If you want to trade a pokemon, but it unfortunately has an HM so you cannot, you can always go to the move tutor and delete that move. Thats what I do when I am stuck in a situation like that =]

Can I trade Pokemon from Diamond and/or Pearl to Platinum without any restrictions?

Thanks for your help,

Bobby

What's the point of HM moves being restricted? If you need to beat the E4, you'd have to have gotten just about all of the moves yourself by that time, and the ones that are now useless outside battle like Dive shouldn't be a factor at all. Anyone know the reasoning for this set-up?

Yep, regardless of pokédex type etc. as long as it comes from a 4th Gen game into another, it'll work!

HMs differ from generation to generation or the pokémon may lose the ability to use that HM in the change over between generations.

Bobby:

I found no problem when transferring my Pokémon from Pearl to Platinum, even though in Platinum I haven't gotten the National Dex. So I say, go ahead and transfer!

Note: The only thing that happens is that the Pokedex number on those Pokemon is ???.

Thanks guys, I appreciate all your help!

And I am looking to get a Blaziken, IE a Torchic final evolved form and a Charizard, I take it I have to get the national pokedex? And go through pal park from fire red and leaf green etc? And is it true that only certain pokemon can be transferred?

And is there a list on the wikipedia, exactly which pokemon are available in Platinum to catch in the wild?

Does that cause any problem with Game play?

Actually it's not that.

The reason they don't let you do it is so you don't trap yourself on Cinnabar Island or in Mossdeep City. Gotta have Surf or Fly to get off there, and there are ways, if you toss all of your Poké Balls and blow all your cash on other things, that you can end up unable to catch any Pokémon to get off the island, even though you can easily encounter one that can learn Surf by fishing.

But anyway, Pal Park is easy to do. Do as they described before. And... wireless transfer? Dude, wireless multiplayer doesn't even work with the GBA games. When playing a GBA game, the DS acts as if it's just a GBA/SP with all link ports removed. All you need to do in the GBA game is put your chosen six for the day for the game into a box together, make sure they don't have Cut, Fly, Surf, Strength, Flash, Rock Smash, Waterfall, or Dive in their movesets, optionally make them hold an item, save the game, and go into your DS game. Hit "MIGRATE FROM (RUBY/SAPPHIRE/EMERALD/FIRERED/LEAFGREEN)" on the continue screen (the option appears after you've met Professor Oak at Pal Park on Route 221, which only happens after you've seen every Pokémon in the Sinnoh Dex and gone to visit Professor Rowan in Sandgem).

Then just touch the six you want (if you haven't changed boxes since you placed them in your GBA game, they should be right there) and it'll ask you if you're ABSOLUTELY SURE you wanna PERMANENTLY transfer forward the Pokémon. Say yes, and it'll save on both games at the same time, and all you gotta do is go to Pal Park and enter a catching show. Recapture your six, and you're done.

You can send over six Pokémon a day per pairing of GBA/DS game. If you have every Gen III and Gen IV game (Ruby, Sapphire, FireRed, LeafGreen, Emerald, Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum), you can technically transfer over 90 Pokémon from Gen III to IV in one day, by transferring from each of the five GBA games to each of the three DS games. But you say you have Platinum and FireRed, so that's six.

In Gen IV you only have to see the Pokémon to complete the Pokédex. Just fight every trainer you come across.

did you get it?

i´m not able to transfer my pokemon from Fire red to Platinum (both are US version)
I have game card original, but it doesnt appear the "Migrate from" option in start menu screen
I have already beat Elite four and got National Dex

I dont know what to do... it works perfect with Diamond, but not with Platinum (neither a rom nor gama card)
