Suggestion Trash can forum

I've noticed that in some forums, there is a large about locked threads that are just taking up space. Wouldn't it be easier to create a separate "Trash Can" forum at the bottom of all of the other forums where locked threads can be moved? This "Thrash Can" forum can be locked to prevent people from posting in it, but it can also be viewable to the public at the same time.

Has this been suggested before? I've seen it used on many forums, and it seems to work well, especially with larger communities, like this one.

I think they have an archive forum, although it's closed to us non-staff. I'm not sure how this forums staff operates with certain things but I'm sure they do cleaning every now and then...but since there are some threads here still OPEN from like 2004 idk.

We do have an archive forum, though most of the things in there are intending to be restored at some point. We would most certainly not throw everything into one single archive forum again. Too messy.

Most locked threads are most likely duplicate threads that will at one point me merged into the original.
