A thread to discuss experiences traveling, whether it's a journey abroad, a trip to another city in your own country, or even to another part of your state or province. What are some of your most memorable experiences traveling, and if you haven't had the opportunity to travel much, what are some places you'd like to visit?
 
hmm i've been traveling (more like moving lol) my whole life but for more intentional stuff... hm...
well! i visited uruguay (colonia) when i was very little! i went there by boat and it was very nice, i swam in the la plata river! i want to visit again after i get my dual citizenship sorted since its simpler to enter uruguay with an argentinian passport rather than an usamerican one.
i visited england last december and it really does rain a lot over there... they were not lying. (i think i still have some pictures...? i should upload them to my blog soon)
i've been to boston and nyc in USA as well, i've been to NYC a lot but most of the time its just to pass into JFK airport lol.
despite living in argentina most of my life, i haven't really left the province of greater buenos aires at all. my family doesn't own a car so its hard to get around in the more rural areas, but i'd love to go to the patagonia in the south to go see the penguins, as well as the north during the festival of the pachamama.
 
Ive been to a few places:
Most notable was Italy in 2005 when my Italian teacher(who is from there) would organize a trip yearly. Gorgeous place. His quite a few different places including my teacher's hometown,Ferrara, Santa Margherita,Pisa,Verona,Venice and of course,Rome. Saw so much cool stuff and the food is so good.

I also went on 2 cruises to Carribbean Islands which was also pretty nice.

Ive been on small trips to here in the US too,mostly to North and South Carolina and Virginia Beach. My list of places Id like to see is way too long.
 
despite being a geography and history nerd of other countries, I've never been more than a few hundred km from home lol

i'm sure once I can travel to farther and more sick destinations in the future, it'll be super awesome
 
I haven't traveled much this decade, which is mostly a product of moving away from home and into an expensive apartment in an expensive state. In my younger years, I traveled extensively alongside my family, visiting Mexico, Belize, El Salvador, Costa Rica, the Bahamas, Bermuda, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, France, Britain, Ireland, Spain, and Japan. I've also taken domestic trips to Chicago and New York City. In the last few years my travels have mostly taken me back to Texas for family visits, but I'm planning a trip to Portland in the next few months to visit my girlfriend.
 
I love traveling, especially via coach bus or train. I’ve been on multiple Greyhound trips, and one thing I genuinely enjoy is seeing the different routes the buses take.

I love that Greyhound partners with certain establishments (like those bigger gas stations with fast food places attached to them) to stop there during 15 minute rest breaks.

It’s funny how even a McDonald’s meal tastes great after you’ve been on a bus for several hours.

I haven’t been on one of these in years. I’m overdue... Like any form of public transportation, they have their downsides, but I still enjoy the experience.

The train is a lot more comfortable. Haven’t been on one of those in a while either. I actually prefer taking busses and trains over airplanes. I actually enjoy the journey more than anything.

As for routine trips, I do take 7-day-long trips to Disney World each year, and I always have fun with that.

A sleeper car is definitely on my bucket list. The only downside is how pricey they can be. :sadsola:
 
i've only been on a handful of trips in my life with up until recently the only real vacations i had ever gone on was brief visits to Kansas City and Madison Wisconsin, which aren't exactly the most exciting places to tell people i've gone to lol. I spent a week in Boston last year though and that was a lot of fun! I loved the city and even got to see the ocean and fly on a plane for the first time! I'm going to Minnesota later this year for an event my father wants to attend so that's another trip i have coming up as well.
