We now have confirmation that Trip/Shooty, Ash's main rival from Best Wishes, is on board for Season 2. What do you envision him doing in Season 2? Given that Trip has been on a losing streak since the Don Tournament, how do you see him faring battle-wise? Do you see any further development regarding his relationship with Alder?

I see him doing quite well, and re-establishing himself as a strong competitor. I can see him beating Ash in the world cup then Ash beating Trip in the league.

As far as their rivalry is concerned, eeeeeeeeeeeeh I dont know where there going to go with that, though anything would be better with what it is atm.

I just don't Writer decide to let Trip beat Ash one more time to show him as a Strong trainer !
I don't care if Trip has been on Losing Streak or his Stupid promise with Alder ! If Ash lose's one more time to him then I'm stop watching this Anime !
If writer need a scapegoat for Trip to reestablish himself then he should find some other loser instate !
I don't care what happen to him !
Ash better not be a scapegoat for him !

Give him some wins against cilan and bianca as revenge! But beating Ash again would be really stupid. he beat him enough!
and that all were so cheap wins! making him win just to curb on the before League rivalry would be demeaning! But nothing surprises me from the writers!

He'll probably be dropped right after the league. His appearance in the Junior cup is probably some last bit of spotlight for the character to make him look good.

Trip beats Ash in the finals of the World Tournament Junior Cup,(in order to hype their league rematch), faces Alder and loses, revealing to himself his inner weakness caused by his belief that strength is everything(Cheren plot 101).

That's the inevitable outcome.

Then Ash beats him in-league in a Serperior-Pikachu final battle, in order to(attempt to)make up for Pikachu's first loss.

That's Trip's BW2 plot in a nutshell.

Calling it now.

It's a good thing if Trip beats Ash here and faces Adeku. That way Ash can beat him in the league and win the whole thing.

Or this will be used as a set up to Trip eventually winning the Unova League and getting his chance to finally battle Alder
A character's ultimate goal usually doesn't happen by the very end of a saga, so I doubt Trip will get to challenge Alder here
Also, we still don't know enough about how that tournament works, if people like Cynthia and Caitlin actually participate, I doubt any of the kids have a chance at all

No, Trip is the main rival of the complete BW series just like Paul was for DP, Drew was for AG and Gary was for the original series
It is pretty obvious he'll stay til BW's very end, where his rivalry with Ash will get concluded, which is partly why I don't believe Ash will beat him in the League... just like May lost to Drew in the Hoenn GF because AG continued with the BF saga and only when that concluded she beat him in the Kanto GF

If anyone's story is concluded by the end of the Unova League, it'd more likely be Bianca, Stephan, Burgundy or Georgia (or more than one of these)
I can certainly see at least Stephan disappearing after the League and Bianca becoming Juniper's assistant

Bianca becoming Juniper's assistant
It could just be me, or wasn't she already Juniper's assistant?

Anyway, I'm glad he is back. He needs to learn that Ash is already an experienced trainer and has more badges then him. I always assumed that the Ash-Trip rival thing was about Trip thinking Ash doesn't have enough experience.

Finally, he has a Serperior! I can't wait!

Since he is a main rival he will definitely stay until the end of the series. Also it should be noted that he lost in one on one matches against Bianca and Cilan, and hasn't battle Ash in a while, so his losing streak doesn't really mean much in terms of his rivalry with Ash.

What do I expect to see of him in Season 2?

If he competes in the tournament, which I so freaking hope now, I want him to get Garchomp'd.

Other than that, any form of failure on his part is highly appreciated.

I couldn't help but roll my eyes when I read the title. I knew it was happening, but my poor heart wouldn't accept it to be true until it was completely confirmed. Oh well, Trip will leave at the end of this saga anyways.

It would be funny if he lost in the first round again, LOL. Imagine if it was Iris (of all people) that beat him, too. Actually, no, that would be a terrible battle.

Remind why this is news, again?? Hes pretty much #1 in the rival depth chart, of course hes staying!!

The second we learned that Alder was the prize for the world tournament thingy, it became pretty clear that Trip would be in season 2 in some form.

Personally, I won't shed a tear if this is the only time he appears in the season between then and the Unova League. Especially since there's a new rival to be had, and since it's hard to do worse than Trip, I'm going to assume the new rival will be better and Trip will be swept under the rug ala Kenny despite his position as "main" rival. 'Cause, come on. In all this time, has he ever really FELT like the main rival, especially compared to all the other BW rivals that are all much more interesting than him by comparison, as well as better-developed? Trip hasn't had his own independent episode since Alder's debut. And even then he was only in like half that episode. I feel the best thing the writers could do for Trip at this time is have him go three for three and lose in the first round of this coming tournament like a newb like him should be doing, and that's all we need to see of him. Because really, even if Trip wins the chance to battle Alder, who the hell wants to see that?

That said, I would not be surprised if Trip does win the tournament and the chance to battle Alder. And that's exactly why they shouldn't do it. Trip already got shaken up when he realized he doesn't shit gold 'cause Alder doesn't remember him among the dozens of kids he's met in all his years as Champion; losing to him in battle isn't really going to do any more than what that episode already did for Trip.

And there's zero gain for Ash whenever he finally gets to beat Trip (presumably in the League) because he never should have been an obstacle for Ash in the first place. At least, now that pre-Gen V Pokemon are no longer taboo in this series, that should allow for a chance for some Kanto classics of Ash's to be in his battle against Trip, because literally the only thing I want to see in their battle is Trip's Pokemon getting curbstomped by Charizard & Co., so Trip can drop that stupid xenophobic trait of his. That said, if Ash does use his Kanto reserves against Trip, I would be most displeased if any of them actually lost to any of Trip's Pokemon, because they are the most vastly experienced members of Ash's team and none of them have any business losing against a newbie's Pokemon no matter what they are. Sadly I would not put it past this series, given that Pikachu already lost to an untrained Snivy and all. Still, that would be most inexcusably horrible.

So ideally, I'd want Trip to lose the first round of the tournament again, leave immediately after like Mister Sour Grapes always does, and not show his face again until he's curbstomped by Ash's Kanto Pokemon in like, the first round of the League. IT WOULD OFFICIALLY BE A RUNNING GAG FOR TRIP TO LOSE IN THE FIRST ROUND OF EVERYTHING. :D

The only genuinely funny thing I can think of for him is if Dawn ever ends up meeting the guy. Because she of all people would probably compare him to Paul and/or Barry and I would do anything to get Paul referenced somehow. Though she would probably want to be Trip's photowhore...

Well, he's still in the main characters page. It's no surprising to see him as Satoshi's main rival in BW2.

Nice we actually see Trip's starter again...like, we haven't seen it since episode...11? Timburr-line has pretty much taken over as his main Pokemon, not that I mind since I greatly prefer it to Snivy.

BW031 - Bulbapedia, the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia

I think it's sad that I'm more interested in the little rivalry that Ash's Snivy established with Trip's Serperior when it was a Servine in BW011 rather than the rivalry between the trainers themselves.

I don't really see Trip as being the main rival. Look he barely appeared. Ash has 8 badges now. When Ash had eight badges in DP Paul beat Ash in a full battle, Battled him a few other times, appeared in episode he didn't matter in won the tag battle and had focus when fighting Brandon not to mention his brother appeared. Trip really didn't do that much he battled Ash three times, lead a group of trainers in the fight against Venipede, meet Adeku and lost twice in don tournament. So since he didn't do all that so I would go as far as comparing calling Trip his main rival to calling Sloking Conway's main Pokemon. It appeared that way for awhile but Sloking didn't appear after the tag battle.

And I do agree that Trip losing could be evidence toward some kind of come back but remember Barry. Dawn noted that Barry Empoleon seemed stronger when it was fighting mothim but after that Barry never got an on screen win after that. I could see Trip's comeback going the same way. Maybe he performs good at the junior tournament but at the league doubt it.
