Four names remain on the list of 2005 names: Stan (already taken), Tammy, Vince and Wilma.

Here's the latest on Stan, which is drenching the Yucatan Peninsula. And there's a tropical wave forming in the Atlantic now, which doesn't appear too organized just yet.

Haha, another one? That area sure is getting pwn3d. Makes me wonder how many more there will be.

Hopefully, the remainder of the storms for this year will not be as strong as Katrina or Rita. There's an article that I've been meaning to read in the current issue of Time magazine about whether or not we are making hurricanes stronger (presumably through global warming).

Stan actually reached H-strength and is now blamed for 50+ death in El Salvador due to rain-provoked mudslides.

It might actually become a candidate for retirement despite being a weak one, if the mudslide death count keep mounting.

What category was it: 1 or 2? I don't believe it got above a category 3, but I haven't checked NOAA lately.

Not sure. Presently ranking it a C-1 in the Watch Center listing until further notice.
