Turning off console mid battle

This happens to me quite often. I get the upper hand on someone and then they just turn off their 3ds so they dont get a loss and I dont get a win. I havent played gen 6 yet so idk if this has changed but the 1 hour wait time to battle again is sort of a joke. A lot of players dont mind that as long as they keep their flawless record. I feel that if you turn off your system it should be an automatic loss along with the 1 hour wait that way people will have less motivation to cheat others out of a win

I agree. It's very bad sportsmanship.

At least they changed it in gen VI: disconnecting midbattle counts as an automatic loss now.

Thats great to hear. I dont mind my win/loss ratio not looking good, but the accuracy certainly lets me know how Im progressing and what is and isnt working for me. I make mental notes but its just better when the stats are there

I know. This was an even bigger problem in Black2/White2, since you didn't get the win or the Join Avenue bonus, which was a HUGE pain when you were trying to level your shops.

I had a guy with an all-shiny team do it to me once after he was down to his last pokemon. I laughed, then I raged.

Indeed, this is terrible sportsmanship. But since it counts as a loss the joke's on them!
Seriously though, if you're going to lose and you know it, just "Run" and forfeit. That's what I do when I cannot hope to win, but I might drag it out.

I had just swept a guy with a cofagrigus. He had a pretty decent team and I was honestly surprised I played the game so well. My battle video was a cofagrigus sweep but the person I was playing against was clearly not very skilled. So I was gonna make this battle my new battle video and I was pumped I got that win and as his last pokemon is sinking down after losing all his health he turns his ds off. He already lost no matter which way you look at it so why not just wait the extra 15 seconds? It was rather infuriating to say the least

I do this all the time because people don't want to play fair and decide to use Event legendaries. That's poor sportsmanship to me. If people don't want to play fair then I'm going to keep on doing it.

I dont see the issues with using event legendaries. Just try to find a strategy that works against them. Even though I do understand many people dont play fair. I have had my pokemon get critted 8 consecutive times which was every move of the battle, and I have also seen ineligible moves. There will always be cheaters but if its legal I dont see the issue

Except that getting 8 consecutive crits is possible now. If he used focus energy, it was legit. If he used a Pokemon with Super Luck, it was legit.

I hate when people do this. I think the automatic loss is only true for Rating Battles, though. If someone disconnects from the PSS, it's not an automatic loss. Meaning I sometimes waste my time battling someone just for them to disconnect and the win is not counted. I hate that! It's a complete waste of my time! Plus, it is completely childish and unfair to the person who won fairly.

i always forfeit when i know i can't do anything so i hate it when the other just disconnects. the best example with this is a dud with a sylveon that tried to set up calm minds, i was with my venomoth. i kept using sleep powder and infestations to prevent him from switching and then setting up quiver dances while he was asleep or using calm minds. i didn't mind because the sylveon couldn't really touch me, so after 4 quiver dances i decided it was time to baton pass them to my charizard Y, which with one sun boosted +4 fire blast left at almost nothing his +3 sylveon. i thought "this is going well" and bam, the other disconected ¬¬

He had neither. But yeah its always been possible. The crit chance is absurdly high. 6.25% seems a bit crazy for something that is only supposed to occur once in a while. But thats kind of the name of the game now, constacrit. But that is besides the point. I just hate when people cant play fairly or lose honorably. Ive been stomped before but I realized that I just had to let the player have their moment and I would have to do better to make mine later

But there's srtategies like Critdra. And Chansey or Farfetch'd holding Lucky Punch/Stick will have a 50% crit rate.

It gets on my nerves real fast, I mean dude if you lose just accept the loss for what it is and move on. That's what I do whenever I lose or am losing and besides that even when I'm losing I still battle my opponent with everything I have and in the end I have no regrets, because I know I did my best.

Additionally, fighting to the bitter end and accepting the loss for what it is shows the other person that you have good sportsmanship. Disconnecting your 3DS, on the other hand, just makes you look like an egotistical douchebag.

exactly, what is the point of having a flawless record if you didnt earn it? And you learn from winning and losing but never from dcing

When I know I'm about to lose, I stick it out to the end anyway--partially because I usually have that stupid strand of optimistic "hey, I might turn this around last minute" thought. And even if I don't, I can concede to defeat. If I lost, I lost. All it means to me is that I need to get better.

The forfeit button is right there - why people don't use it and "rage-quit" instead is beyond me :/ When it seems I'm about to lose for good and I don't want to see my team wiped out, I just forfeit. It's not that hard to do.

But... but... teh stats! Teh W/L Ratio!
