Background - Well this is my first legit ever fic, so I plan to cry in a corner or eat ice cream if it doesn't go well because I'm a terrible human. Anyway the inspiration of this story is basically I was drunk and watching some cartoons. I was watching the Scooby-Doo for the 80's and realized that there was no Fred and Velma. They said Velma worked at NASA or something but it made me think while pissed off my face about Fred. What did happen to the blonde leader? Well this is my take on a group similar to that focusing on the past and the future of a single person and how that will shape him or so I tried.

Enjoy and if possible give feedback because the more feedback, the more I feel I can improve I guess. I mean if I'm not traumatized and decide not to continue but hey life is about trying I guess, I should know. Total thanks to everyone for all her help, I couldn't have done this without their help.

Anyway enjoy

Rating - Teen I guess but expect adult themes that will boggle the mind of teenagers everywhere, some swearing and well that's really it.

CHAPTER 1 - I HATE MORNINGS

“Rise and shine….god I hate mornings.”

It was morning in the lovely city of San Diego. It was sunny and the light shone on a male who muttered in his sleep. It was 9 in the morning when he woke up. He ruffled his dark blonde hair, muttering obscurities and walked into a plain old bathroom, stared at a mirror before jumping into a shower. He carefully checked himself in the mirror while fixing up his suit.

“Well here we go Ryan,” Ryan Bianchi was a dark blonde hair, blue eyed male that spend his childhood travelling around with a group solving mysteries and issues. His group was always referred to as the real life ‘Scooby Doo’ group, even though he hated the term with a passion, and the fact that they didn’t even own a dog, however he did enjoy solving the mysteries, though the fame was not enjoyable. He was sent a letter from a mysterious benefactor asking Ryan to meet the benefactor. He stood at around 6 ft 2 inches, lean build like an athlete. He walked outside decked out in a black suit and his hair now spiked up to a certain degree. He was pleasantly surprised that they sent out a limo for him, a nice sleek black one.

“Ahh Master Bianchi welcome, please make yourself at home,” The door opened automatically but he couldn’t see where the voice was coming from.

“Umm thanks I guess but who are you?” Ryan asked as he sat down in the back of the limo, looking at it and whistling at the sight of it. It had a television inside, a Pepsi dispenser, finger food with serviettes and ambient music that seemed better suited at a spa.

There was no response as the car started to accelerate through the streets of San Diego. However once they reached a traffic light, the voice responded. “I am here to serve my master, I am JNP 3200. I was built to drive and serve my master and follow her orders.”

“Well that’s just great….I can’t open a door and I’m being driven by a robot.” Ryan muttered as he picked out some finger food, sniffed it and then took a bite. “Hey chicken, nice. So where does your master live, JNP whatever?”

The robot continued to drive the limo towards the benefactor’s place of residence which turned out to be a giant grey mansion looking like something out of MTV Cribs back in the day. “Man,” He could see the ceramic tiles leading to a giant garden with crisp green hedges, beautiful red exotic flowers and tropical trees. “That looks whacked, can I get out now?” Ryan asked the limo robot who acknowledged by opening the door. “Thanks bro.” Ryan walked out of the limo and up the steps towards the door. He rang the doorbell but instead of someone opening the door or at least a voicecom greeting, it was a giant camera that greeted Ryan out of the doorbell.

“State your name and business.” The same voice as JNP 3200 seemed like it was security here as well.

“Ryan Bianchi and my business….” He pulled out the letter out of his suit and showed it to the wandering camera. “This is my business, so you know am I good or do I have to smash you up?” He chuckled as the camera retreated back to the doorbell. The doors suddenly opened.

Ryan whistled in awe looking around at all the art sculptures, various paintings and vases. “It was a period piece by an artist who believed that painting would give him sexual powers,” a beautiful woman with dark black hair styled in a peekaboo style exclaimed as a greeting, her steel blue eyes glaring straight into Ryan. She was wearing a black dress and walked seductively to him. “You must be Ryan Bianchi…you look more handsome than the pictures show.”

“Heh…yeah umm thanks…” Ryan blushed in embarrassment as he greeted the woman. She gestured for him to follow her as she walked towards the inner sanctum of the mansion.

“I’m Valerie Harrison and yes I did send that letter to you. I’m surprised that you are the only one to show up.” She had an amazing seductive voice on her like a wisp of Greta Garbo, from the films of yesteryear full of femme fatales and seduction.

“What do you mean by that?” He asked with his eyes glued to her behind, almost hypnotized.

Valerie chuckled noticing that the teen was staring at her behind, “You like what you see?” She could tell that he moved his gaze back to the art work. “Well I am a big fan of what you five did with travelling and solving mysteries and crimes. It was entertaining and I loved reading the stories, seeing the news reels which I have all saved. I tried contacting all the group for a little mystery with acceptance to any college that I have links to. However…” She sighed looking at a picture of the group from a newspaper clipping. “Only you replied which is really a shame.”

“Well times change…” Ryan took a deep breath as he sat down on a chair. “Times really did change…it’s a long story but what seemed to be perfect from the outside was anything but…”

“Do tell” Valerie smiled sitting down next to Ryan and putting her hand on his thigh.

“Err yeah…” He felt a little uneasy with her hand on his thigh wondering if she was playing him because it wouldn’t be the first time. “Well you know that there were five of us, I was the apparent leader and I was dating the heart of the team…my Lauren. She was everything you wanted with a girl, she had lovely flowing blonde hair, she handled PR but fame got to her. We were heavily involved as we were the couple like you know.” He sighed staring into Valerie’s eyes before taking another gulp, “We had the athletic brawn in Craig, he was the powerhouse that girls loved but fame took over him as well, Sally was the brains of the group, thankfully she was grounded and was best friends with our bro, Andy….who was also grounded.”

“What happened?”

“Well….” He took a massive gulp, almost stating that he hated this story. “It all started in LA a year ago….We were around Hollywood with a mystery….”

------------------------

FLASHBACK – ONE YEAR AGO

“Well who knew that someone would try to dress up as a goat to steal Taylor Swift’s dresses? You don’t see that every day.” Ryan smiled as the police finished up their work. “Man I feel like checking out the Angels game, who’s in?” He turned around to see Lauren and Craig talking to reporters. “Not again…”

Lauren was talking it up to the reporters, “What can I say but without me, we wouldn’t even be the group. I’m the heart and soul of the group and obviously the most fashionable and prettiest…so I’m looking for movie roles.” Her green eyes twinkling to the cameras “I had no affair with that singer. He totally wishes he could sleep with me….ouch hey…” Lauren was dragged away from the cameras by Ryan and Sally.

“Thanks Sally,” Ryan thanked Sally. Sally was half American and half Chinese but really intelligent as a tactician. She and Ryan were pretty close like brother and sister which sometimes made Lauren jealous that Sally could take her boyfriend away from her.

Lauren wasn’t impressed to be dragged by Sally in the first place who she found beneath her since Lauren was the face of the group. “What’s the big idea?” The blonde yelled in their faces. “You have no right to drag me away from the cameras.”

“Umm Loz, we kind of do,” Ryan explained as he pointed at the cameras. “We need to keep a low profile because if we make one mistake we can get our asses sued and none of us have that money to pay for legal proceedings.”

“No I do and you just want the fame, you’re jealous.” Lauren yelled at her boyfriend, “You are jealous that I’m popular and you can’t handle your girlfriend being famous, a lot more famous that you’ll ever be.”

“Lauren….” Sally tried to cool down the situation.

“Cram it brainy.” Lauren shot back “You were always trying to steal my thunder and my boyfriend. Well you can’t have him, so shove that up your nose.”

She touched her nose and responding with “My nose?”

“Loz, you don’t know what you’re saying. We are a team.” Ryan put his arms on Lauren’s shoulders. “The two of us, we’ve been dating for a while, we’re in love.”

Lauren sighed “I’m sorry Sally…but Ryan I need to talk to you….” She clutched his hands before staring at his eyes. “I’m getting older Ryan, you and I had something special but I love you but I’m not in love with you,” Her voice lacking any emotion, “I need to move on but you’ll always have a place in my heart.” She kissed him on the cheek before walking off to talk to the cameras.

“Pfft we all know what she is going to say.” Craig laughed after getting a phone number from a female fan. “She was just using you for fame and to get Hollywood roles. I think I need to leave this group to get ahead. You guys are dragging me down badly so see you punks because I’m going to be Hollywood.” And there weren’t Craig.

Ryan’s eyes widened at Craig’s statement. He turned towards Lauren who left to talk to the cameras. “I guess it is just us three but we can’t do with only us. I guess we are done.” He sighed looking at Sally and Andy. “Sorry guys we are done, it was fun while it lasted.” He walked away from the pair.

---------------------------

End of Flashback.

“So then they all basically moved to chase their dreams but I stayed back. I love my San Diego.” Ryan reclined as he tapped his foot on some white ceramic tiles.

“I’m so sorry,” Valerie blew her nose with a tissue before throwing it away on a pile of used tissues. “If I knew I wouldn’t have invited all…of you…guys.” She pulled out another tissue and blew into it again.

“Ummm…It’s okay Valerie. Well I wanted to patch things up with Craig and Lauren but all these memories come back. Sally, Andy and I still talk but we went our separate ways.” He smiled as he started to relax, stretching his legs and arms on a reclining chair. “Things change.”

“What did you do after leaving the group?” She asked until she realized that she ran out of tissues.

Ryan turned to see all the used tissues on a pile. “Errr well that’s a story for another time,” He smiled with a wide grin that made him popular with the ladies. “So what’s the little mystery?”

Valerie got up from her chair and picked up a letter. “I thought about telling you this mystery you can’t do it alone. You need 3 people at least but there is one thing I can do,” Valerie tossed him the second letter. “I know that you play basketball and you’re looking for colleges to recruit you. I know people and I can get you these scholarships.”

“Why?” He asked almost sceptical, “Why would you want me to do well and how did you know about me….nevermind.” Ryan read through the letter he used to get in. “Look I just want more information before I can make a decision.”

“I’m sorry darling I can’t give you any information until you have two others at least. It is too bad that two others did not show up. It really was that bad wasn’t it?” She smiled moving closer to Ryan. “I think we should talk about this in the morning, I know what we can do after dinner tonight...” she smiled drawing closer and closer to Ryan.

“Ummm…” He moved back, panicking at the fact that he was being hit on by a woman at least 13 years old than him. “Don’t you have a husband or something?”

“Had” She drew closer and closer until she started to laugh, “I’m just messing with you dear, you maybe handsome but you are far too young for me.” She moved away from Ryan and then tossed him another letter. “There you go darling, pick which college of choice but you have to have two others to join you and don’t forget” She started to walk away from Ryan and then blew a kiss before saying “Remember only then will the mystery follow you and I do have my reasons, dear.”

Ryan blinked a few times reading the new letter, “Man this is going to be tough.” He sighed reading it and trying to decipher it. “Where am I going to find two others,” He pulled out his phone and looked at the numbers. He saw Lauren’s number but didn’t think twice before moving on and the same for Craig’s. However he stared at Sally’s number trying to figure out if he would call her or not.

“Things change.” Ryan put his phone back into his pocket.

Now if you excuse me I'm going to eat myself. Thanks for reading.

Good start!

First off, it's clear that through your writing that you have planned out he plot very well and have a handle on where you want it to go. I like the sense of personality your characters have, especially through the dialog which is very good.

The only criticism I have so far is that your prose is a bit stiff. Each sentence is the same in structure: Ryan blinked...Ryan sighed...Ryan pulled out his phone...Ryan saw Lauren's number...Ryan stared at Sally's number... It's not horrible, but it does get a little boring when formatted like this and reads like a list. Maybe try to spice things up by letting us know what's inside the POV characters head. How does he/she react to what's happening? Don't have every sentence be an action. Take the time to paint pictures of the scene. This will add to the elegance of the prose and help make your story richer.

Overall very good start though! Ryan seems like an interesting character and I'm excited to see where the plot heads! Keep up the good work.

Yay I have a 2nd chapter. I'm special....or not. Enjoy the crappiness of moi.

CHAPTER 2 - MAKE IT RAIN!!!!!

“1 4, 1 4!!!”

It was the start of the high school basketball season and the scores were locked at 78-56 just near the midway stage of the 4th quarter. The crowd was silent as they sat in the bleachers watching their team lose. There were 5 players in blue jerseys and 5 in white on the court. The ball was with the point guard, trying to set up the play as he acted as a floor general to get his team involved. The point guard tried to pass his man, trying to find his man. Ryan was watching him intent trying to play zone defense, egging the point guard to make a rash shot from beyond the arc or to try and cause a turnover.

The point guard spent too much time to trying to pick his play and without realizing, Ryan the opposing point guard pickpocketed the ball and started to sprint while dribbling. The fast break was on and the home team could not get back on defense, allowing Ryan Bianchi to make an easy layup. The score was now 80 to 56 and Ryan was subbed off along with the rest of the starters.

“Man that was dope, bro. You’ve been strangling his ass. He’s what?” Ryan’s teammate who happened to be the starting power forward smiled as he put his arm around Ryan. “Oh right 8 points, 4 assists and 7 turnovers. Bro you are the man. What’s your stats bro? What is your stats?” He punched Ryan on the shoulder lightly smiling and joking around with him.

“Yeah what are they? 16 points and 16 assists.” Ryan smiled broadly as he looked at the scorers’ sheet. “Bro without me, you’ll be struggling to even get 2 points. Doug, you know I got your back.” He put his arm around his teammate’s shoulder. Doug had been friends with Ryan since they started high school together. He was strongly build and around the height of 6’5” and of African American descent. They build a strong rapport which each on the first day of basketball practice with each other. The 17 year olds were known as one best duos in high school basketball at California.

Ryan was the point guard that loved to create for his teammates. He had a knack for finding his teammates, making incredible passes, a tough defender with a wicked outside shot. Doug was the beast on the boards. He played mainly on the low post and was the enforcer. He wouldn’t let teams get to the rim. He was a very savvy defender like Ryan, knowing when to help or when to stick with their man. They complemented well with each other but they couldn’t be successful without a great team and a great coaching staff. They both watched as the game was nearing the end. The final buzzer sounded and the away team won 85-62. It was a great start for the boys in blue who were stoked. It was to the locker room before just chilling with each other.

“Man do you know what song has been stuck in my mind?” Doug asked as he looked around to see any ladies he found pretty around him.

Ryan sighed “I’m gonna say I like something like ‘I like big butts and I can not lie….” He was also staring at them as well.

“Nah bro, you got me all wrong. I’m the soul master not that junk. Man ladies hate that trash. They be like Doug, I love you bro but you listen to trash. I’ll be like babe, you don’t know me at all.” Doug started to ramble before he was given a slap on the back of his head by another teammate. “Man what was that for?”

“No one wanna here your stuff.”

“Alright, alright…chill. Now the song was ‘Run to you’ by Bryan Adams and I’m gonna hold it against Ryan on this one.” Doug lightly punched Ryan before putting his arm around his shoulder leading to a headlock.

“Hey that was not my fault,” Ryan broke his way from the headlock. “I didn’t even play that song at all,” If you exclude the fact that when Ryan broke up with Lauren, he would always play that song or ‘Last Goodbye’ by Jeff Buckley. The guys sat down on a grassy hill beneath a tree at the main courtyard watching people walk by. “Alright maybe I did overdo with the music but that was last year.”

“Speaking of which, Ryan when was the last time you actually hooked up with a smoking hot lady. Yeah I know Lauren was smoking hot but she was like a female dog and thank god you saw that before it was too late. Imagine being married to that witch bro, I would be like screw this and I’ll divorce her mutha…you get the picture.” Doug stretched out on the freshly mowed grass.

“I’ll find someone when it happens, bro. You know I’m cool with the ladies but man check this news out.” Ryan pulled out the two letters that he had received from Valerie two weeks ago and tossed him to his friend. “Now imagine that opportunity and I saw her last week and man it’s dope. She told me about all these colleges that I could get to but there is some damn mystery to it but imagine going to Kentucky, Duke, Arizona or Syracuse. Wouldn’t that be awesome but I need like two other people and she said once that happens I have to go all the way New York to meet her.”

Doug was amazed as he read the letter to himself. “Man this is dope. You gonna take your old pals right? Sally, Andy and all those people because that sounds like their alley. You guys going to college again and you’re this lady’s Terry McGuinness. You, Sally, Lauren….” He was then interrupted by a death stare from Ryan.

“There is no way that I would even ask Lauren or Craig at all. I’m done with them,” He fumed as started to remember the fractured relationship. “They ditched the rest of us for fame, man I don’t want to deal with people like that. Dude I got to find two other people by the end of the season otherwise the deal is off and I’ll have to go to some terrible Division II school. I can’t do that at all.” He grabbed Doug by his shirt and basically pleaded with him to understand the situation he was in.

“Bro calm down and relax,” Doug fixed up his shirt after Ryan took his hands off him. “I’m in.”

“What?”

“Yeah you heard me. I ain’t ditching a bro in need. We are like tight best bros and I was told by father. He said to me, Doug you ain’t ditching a bro unless you gonna cap your ass or was that my uncle Kenyon? He ended up in jail but you get the point.” Doug was in and he seemed set.

“Man you don’t know how much this means to me. You really don’t.” Then it hit Ryan that something extremely important was missing and this time it wasn’t like the time he left his shoes back in his locker.

“I still need one more….”

Three Weeks later.

School spirit was at a high and not because of people actually getting high like what happened to another school in the news. It was another basketball game for Summerworth High School, the crowd were lining up to see their team taking on Southton High School and their star point guard Andrew Smith. Andrew was a pure scoring point guard that wasn’t too great on the defensive end but boy he could shoot lights out.

“Alright men,” The coach brought his team together, “This is going to be your hardest game of the season so far. Smith is a scoring point guard, so we have to don’t really have to close out his passing lanes. Ryan I need you to play the game of your life, I need you to pressure him on every shot because he will play a lot of iso and even if he does pass, we have the guys inside to pressure their big men. It doesn’t matter what happens, just make him frustrated boys but don’t let up on the other guys as well, remember that. Alright good luck men and have fun.”

The game started with Southton winning the ball and immediately it was Andrew v. Ryan. Andrew was trying to find a way through the blonde opposing point guard but couldn’t find a way through until he took a deep two. The pressure on the shot was there but it sunk. The game continued with the trend of Andrew v. Ryan, the scoring point guard taking on the passing point guard. It heated up with them trading blows, 2 points after two points. It was a very fast up tempo game with points running up the board.

It was near the end of the 4th quarter and the scores were 90-87 with Summerworth trailing by three. The coach gathered up his players and drew up a play. “Guys we are down by three with a minute left, plenty of time. Don’t need to try and throw up 3 pointers. Jason I need you and Doug to set the screens, so that would allow Ryan or Adam to shoot or drive to the lane. If it is Adam then shoot from outside the key on the left wing because they will not able to run to cover you. However if it is Ryan then drive into the lane for an easy layup then we will be down 1. “The play was draw and acted with Ryan handling the ball and seeing that the screen was set, he had Andrew on him but could see Adam open with his man trying to rush in to cover him. Ryan passed it to Adam, who took the easy shot and they were down by 2.

“Hustle boys, back on D.” Ryan yelled out “Play Gibs 83,” calling out a play which tried to create a one on one situation which allowed Andrew to throw an errant pass causing a turnover. Adam passed it to Ryan who found Doug for an easy dunk. The score was now 90-91 but Ryan tried to create pressure on Andrew who passed it to an open man. Luckily the open man missed the 2 and the rebound was cleaned up by Doug who was immediately fouled. If he took these 2 free throws and sank them, the game would be set. However he missed the 1st one before making the 2nd one. The score was now 90-92. With 3 seconds on the clock and a time out taken, the ball was inbounded to Andrew but Ryan covered him creating a tough situation for the point guard. He took the buzzer beater but it rimmed out allowing Summerworth High School to win 92-90.

The team celebrated until Andrew from Southton High approach them. “You guys are real, man I love playing you guys. We’ll beat you next time but guys my girl is having a party at her place tonight and I want y’all to come. There gonna be a lot of hotties there, you dig?” He gave Ryan the address on a piece of paper.

“Yeah we dig, we cool. Thanks bro for the invite.” Ryan smiled accepting the piece of paper. “We love playing with you guys as well. You guys are real as well.”

A few hours later….

“Man look at this house, we in some rich bitch house. That means rich girls who are sly on the easy.” Doug smiled as he looked at the giant brown mansion with music blaring from all over the place and lights shining from what seemed to be the backyard.

They walked in being greeted by Andrew holding a cup of beer. “Man it’s nice to see you guys, you guys gonna love it. I’ll have to help my girl, so I’ll see you guys around later.”

“Thanks holmes but where are the babes?” Doug asked before being pointed towards the pool. “Oh hell yeah…there is a freaking pool.”

The party continued with the boys trying to chat up some Southton girls. Doug was talking to this girl with brown hair, brown eyes wearing a low cut top while a few other players were just dancing to the hip hop and dance music being played. Ryan and a few others were in the pool talking with some chicks.

“You know I’m not like Andrew, he’s a great guy and all but ladies please I’m a star.” Ryan somewhat intoxicated had his arm around one blonde girl and one raven haired woman. “Now I’m not being cocky but 27 points and 8 assists, c’mon girls I’m good. It’s not all stopping crimes and catching monsters,”

“Oh? How good are you?” The blonde girl smiled as she wrapped her arms around him, kissing the blonde point guard.

“Let’s test it out.” He smirked before making out with the blonde girl. Everything was going well for Ryan, he was making out with some random woman who he didn’t even know the name of, he was the star of the game, he didn’t have meet his past, everything was going swimmingly for Ryan. That is until….

“Ryan Bianchi!!!” Another blonde girl but with beautiful green eyes, luscious blonde hair wearing a black top yelled at him from the ledge of the pool.

“Ahhh man…” The kiss was broken as the two girls swam away from him. “Man just when things were getting good, you had to interrupt.” He got up as he picked up a towel.

The woman shook her head, “Since when does the great Ryan Bianchi, the romantic idealist start to make out with easy girls? Things have changed indeed and it is so sad to see.” She started to yell at him. “I knew your team and you are trouble, it has always been that way. You couldn’t give 100% to us because of your gorilla teammates. You had no time for me at all and now I see you making out with some hussies and I know things have changed but it is nice to see you though.”

“Things really haven’t Lauren.” He wrapped the towel around his boxer shorts, “You are still the bitch that ditched us to pursue some Hollywood career. Tell me how’s that going?”

“Oh please,” She scoffed “You are just jealous that I’m successful. I’m on Nickelodeon now if you want to know and I’m here because my cast members and I were invited. Plus you couldn’t resist me at all Ryan Bianchi. Tell me something how was that girl?” She moved closer to Ryan whispering in his ear, “I still control you Ryan, I always will.” The music was still blaring loudly, people were yelling, dancing, even though the seemed like the former couple were alone.

“You have no control over me Lauren, you never did and I can prove it.”

Seems really good! One thing however: You should use some more commas to make the flow seem more natural, break up the larger sentences.

Thank you, I'll take that going forwards.

CHAPTER 3 - Bribery

“Aww man, my head hurts,”

It was bright and early and it was another day. Ryan on the other hand didn’t feel that morning chipper as his head was hurting a lot. He yawned blinking a few times, trying to figure out where the heck he was. It seemed like a really posh place and it wasn’t his for sure. “The hell am I?” He rubbed his head before realizing that he was shirtless and just wearing his black pants. Looking around he found his shirt before chucking it on. The room was fancy, it had a king sized bed in white matching with the beige look of the room with beige curtains.

Suddenly while changing, the door opened and in came in a woman wearing blue trackpants and a white top. She had strawberry blonde hair tied up in a bun, her blue eyes were shocked that there was a complete stranger in her room. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t know you were changing. I’ll leave…” She was completely gorgeous from top to bottom. She stood around 5’8” and had a figure similar to a model, slinky and stylish but she was embarrassed to see a guy change in her room.

“Wait!!!” Ryan called out to the girl just before she shut the door. “Where am I?”

“You must have had a big night, this is my parents room….oh my god, you had sex on in my parents’ room. The hell is wrong with you?” She ran up to him while yelling at him.

“I don’t know, I didn’t even know where I was.” He yelled back. “I don’t think I slept with some girl in your parents’ room.”

So what did happen in the party? Well let’s have a quick recap. Ryan met with Lauren and ditched her because he thought she couldn’t control him at all but he didn’t want to take a chance. He explained to the ‘pool girl’ as he liked to call one of the girls he made out with in the pool, that Lauren was not his girlfriend or did they have any relationship. Then sat down on a couch listening to the music and drinking a lot of alcohol until a brunette woman asked him to join her in the pool which led to another ‘pool girl’ but that went quite the distance before she went off to do her own thing and then Ryan decided to dance on the dancefloor. That led to a blonde girl whom he found very pretty and then it kind of leads here….

“There is a note on your chest…” the girl pulled it from Ryan’s chest before reading it out loud. “Dear Ryan, I told you I have control over you. I didn’t know you were so much better at dancing than before. I will always have control over you,” The girl gave a confused look to Ryan before adding “Love Lauren,” She blinked a few times and then looked around before screaming out “YOU TOTALLY DID DO IT ON MY PARENTS’ BED…” She yelled before composing herself. “Alright I just need to get rid of these sheets and wash them. You want a cup of coffee or something?”

“I couldn’t ask you do that. I’ll make it since I kind of may have damaged those bedsheets.” He read the note before stuffing it in his pocket. “God I hate that girl.”

The pair made their way into the kitchen and it was a complete mess. “Thankfully the cleaners are coming today,” The woman sighed as she looked at the mess everywhere. “So who’s this Lauren girl hmmm?”

“Lauren is my ex, I didn’t even know how she got here. Do you take sugar?” He asked before starting up on the coffee.

“Two…wait a second she goes to my boyfriend’s school. She is apparently like really famous for being in that group of people who chased ghosts, monsters and criminals. He tells me that she uses fame to get everything she wants and she has you around her little finger.” She picked up a piece of clothing from a couch before realizing that it was someone’s panties. “Ewww…” as she threw it away.

Ryan continued making coffee as he talked, “You’re Andrew’s boyfriend. Damn he has done well for himself.” He turned around to see the mess and a bra handing from the ceiling fan. “Yeah….anyway he is a great player.”

“Girlfriend not boyfriend, you stupid drunk,” She muttered as she walked to pick up a broom and use it to get the bra hanging off the fan. “I know I have cleaners but it is principle, it was his party and he thought Southton was going to win.”

“Except we beat their asses,” He smiled broadly giving a mug to the girl before drinking from his mug. “Who are you anyway?”

She wasn’t too happy at the question since there were clothes and a lamp on the floor and the fact that a student didn’t even recognize someone that went to the same school as them. “I’m Nicole Carter, I go to the same god damn school as you,” She shook her head at the fact that it still didn’t click with the blonde basketball player. “I am a freaking cheerleader. I was there at the game Ryan.”

“Ooohhh,” It finally clicked after saying that she was a cheerleader, “Nicole, Nicky, The Nickister, the rich girl from richland.” He smiled as he was rattling off random names or so called nicknames of Nicole.

“It took you a while, I should kick you out of my house for not even knowing who I am and you slept with Lauren in on my parents’ bed. I don’t care if you are some hot shot celeb or whatever. You still have to give me respect but thanks for the coffee.” Nicole was yelling at Ryan before taking a sip from her mug of coffee. He was kind of scared that she would use the broom to knock him out. “Sooo,” a smile crept on her face “What happened between you and Nicole…I mean Lauren,” Nicole quickly tried to cover up that little slip up as a blush crept on her face.

“We broke up a year ago and now I just slept with her…oh lord what have I done? Doug is going to kick my ass.” He didn’t notice the blush or the slip up by Nicole. Instead Ryan was trying to figure out why he did end up with Lauren. “Oh man thankfully I wouldn’t have to play Southton for a long long time and then I’ll be free and away I can go with my journey with Doug to the mystery.”

“The mystery? I think you slipped up and you are asking Doug? Your friend tried to hit on me and that was so not cool. You need someone with poise, elegance, money and someone that is smart enough to keep guys like you on the steady path.” She proudly smiled while drinking from a nice white mug full of coffee.

“I don’t think there is anyone like that Nicole,” Ryan shrugged as he downed the rest of his coffee and taking the mug with him to wash up. “I can’t think of a single person at all.”

“Ahem I think you mean that there is no one like me. I’m in and oh no…” She ran up to him, “You don’t have to do the washing up at all.” Nicole took the mug from him and smiled, “It is the cleaners’ job not yours, you can sit down and relax Ryan.” She pushed him out of the kitchen literally.

“Look Nicole no offense….” Ryan took a deep breath “But you aren’t the type of person that would be kind of you know into it or something.”

“You didn’t know who I was 10 minutes ago.” She exclaimed as she walked out of the kitchen after pushing Ryan away from it. “I’ll do anything that isn’t vulgar or demeaning to join you and Doug.”

The blonde basketball shrugged as he plonked himself on a nice grey Italian leather sofa “Tell me the story between you and Andrew since I told you the story between me and Lauren.” He was kind of curious since he wasn’t even around and she seemed not to care about it.

“Well,” Nicole sat down next to Ryan, “Last year you guys were playing Southton and after the game he asked me out and I guess being a happy romantic I said yes and we’ve been together since. However we haven’t been you know…”

“I really didn’t need to hear that Nicky.” The basketball put his leaned down with his head in his two hands. “I really didn’t but you can’t join us. It is a journey by some lady who was a big fan of the old group and she needed some help and she said she could give us free college….ahh crap I just made the opportunity look more appealing.” He leaned down even more realizing his mistake.

“Yep, come on Ryan. I always wanted to do what you guys did,” The strawberry blonde woman smiled even though she couldn’t actually see any facial expression from Ryan. “I’ll do anything. I know I’ll break up with Andrew.” She pulled out her phone and started to dial.

Ryan quickly snapped his head back and stared in disbelief. “You wouldn’t do that, there is no way. I’m calling your bluff.” He watched as she tapped on the screen of her phone.

“Try me,” a big smirk came across her face. “Hi Andrew, where are you?” She started to talk over the phone with Ryan not buying it all. “You were supposed to help me clean up. Yes it does matter because you are my boyfriend…no this isn’t about the fact that you had to party, it was your party at my place. You know what I’m a sick of this attitude, you never change for me at all. No, I am so sick of it,” Nicole was pretty animated on the phone, she was basically yelling at her boyfriend, “I don’t care we are through. That’s right I’m dumping you. Excuse me…well I don’t care bye.” She hung up before turning to the blonde basketballer. “See I just did and if you want proof read this text that is coming up…..now.” She showed him the text which took Ryan back.

“Call him back, just say you are sorry.” He exclaimed kind of panicking.

“Not until you let me in,” She replied back to him with authority, like she had control over him in this situation.

“Fine, fine…just don’t mess up your life.” Ryan agreed just in disbelief on what was happening. “You can join just call him back and fix it up.”

“So I’m in?” Nicole smiled as she leaped up from seating position on the grey Italian leather sofa and hugged the basketballer. “Ooh guess what?” The cheerleader’s smile was sunny, bright and cute at least to him.

“What is it? Because I am about to head off,” Ryan asked as he got up from the couch. “Is this about the break-up? Is Andrew going to kick my ass? The guy is like big, man and I’m a shrimpy point guard. Man I don’t want to get bashed up….again.” The memories flooded back from last season where a giant 6 foot 10 center decided that Ryan’s jokes about his height weren’t that funny and ended with him in hospital.

“No, Andrew will not punch, bash or shoot you,” Nicole sighed as she tried to calm down the basketball player but that did not work at all.

“Shoot me? Oh god dammit. I’m too young to die,” He started to panic which included pacing around the longue room before staring at a picture of Nicole and her family. “Where’s your familia?”

“Overseas in the Bahamas but it doesn’t matter because I didn’t actually break up with him at all. I just tricked you in getting me to join you and Doug. I played you but not like Lauren at all and you are not going to drive in your state.” Nicole watched as Ryan started to breathe on the glass protecting the pictures. “Stop that!!!” She yelled.

“Sorry but look I appreciate the concern but I’m fine Nicole. I can drive up to Missouri and back.” He pulled out his keys. “I got this…hey.” His keys were dangling in his fingers till they were snatched by a quick thinking Nicole.

“You got this? Imagine everything if you get a DUI? You’ll be kicked off the team and all these opportunities gone like that. I’m driving….and plus it is not like Andrew will call me, he is probably in a worse state than you. You boys are such dumbasses.” She dragged Ryan outside before spraying him with a lot of deodorant to mask the smell of alcohol. Nicole went to her car which was a plain old Toyota much to the surprise and amusement of Ryan.

“Damn girl, I thought you would have had something more fancy like a Merc or a Beemer, but damn this is funny.” He laughed looking at the plain old blue run down Toyota from the mid 90’s as she got in and reversed it onto the street.

“Laugh it up fly boy,” She flicked her strawberry blonde hair, smiling from the driver’s seat. “Just because my parents are well off doesn’t mean I have to be the spoiled rich girl, now get in before I run you over,” She stared making him feel a bit submissive as he got in the car.

She started to drive while looking at the road and then asking Ryan for directions but in his state, directions weren’t that great. A trip that should have been around 25 minutes turned out to be as long as an hour, with 40 minutes of arguing, bickering and craziness.

“It’s remarkable how you can even....wow that house is amazing.” They parked right outside the mansion that Miss Valerie Harrison lived in. The giant greystone mansion had ceramic tiles leading to a giant garden with crisp green hedges, beautiful red exotic flowers and tropical trees. It was an awe, even to Nicole but they had to get passed security which included a giant dog that they had to run from, a disco robot which again they had to run from and an old man telling stories from the war even though his stories included a cat that tried to assassinate Truman using its’ claws.

Nicole was panting as she tried to catch her breath. Her hands were on her knees, leaning down to rest while Ryan was in the exact same position. “That was scary,” She exclaimed after catching her breath, “a disco robot is something from my nightmares. So are we there yet because if that disco robot comes back singing Bee Gees I’m going to flip.”

“Yeah we are here I think, I don’t know.” Suddenly the ground opened up and swallowed them both down a slide that went in circles, round and round, steep and not as they landed in a dark room. “Okay I’m totally freaked out!” Ryan looked as he pulled out his phone while Nicole did the same. “Are you scared Nicole?”

“I’m in a dark room in a place that I don’t know with a guy who slept with a girl on my parents’ bed. Of course I am scared, you idiot!” She screamed at him until just like that a very deep voice boomed from out of nowhere.

“Ryan Bianchi and Nicole Harris, you have trespassed onto my territory….” The voice echoed until it was interrupted by Nicole.

“It’s not Nicole Harris. It’s Nicole Carter.” She yelled back to the deep booming voice in the pitch black room. The next sound was a rustle of paper and a cough as she and Ryan just stared at each other trying to figure out what was happening.

“Are you sure?” The deep boom voice asked.

“I think I would know my own name.”

“Oh right…ummm well prepare for your death or something, I don’t know.”

What will happen next? Will Nicole and Ryan die? How does the voice know Nicole? And where did this disco robot appear from?

Love the basketball reference at the beginning. Very well done with capturing the essence and excitement of a basketball game. Dialog is good as usual! Keep it up.

Thank you.

Chapter 4 - The Lincoln

CHAPTER 4 - The Lincoln

Nicole and Ryan were looking around the dark room, trying to find out where they were using the flash lights on their phones but the light could offer so much as it was basically useless. “Do you know any martial arts?” Nicole asked as she stood next to Ryan.

“I’m a basketball player not some Bruce Lee dude,” He muttered looking at her in disbelief, “I do have like no strength because I didn’t have anything to eat at all,”

“It serves you right for screwing your ex-girlfriend in my parents’ bed. Why would you even do such a thing?” She yelled at him angrily, “And now we are going to die and I didn’t even get to die with someone cute like a Ryan Gosling….” Nicole grabbed on to Ryan’s arm and dug her nails in accidentaly while panicking.

“Hey, watch it. Don’t dig into my arm,” Ryan shot back, his tone calm but irritated. “We are not going to die. Watch this,” He turned away from Nicole and yelled out, “Miss Harrison, we know you are not actually going to kill us because if you were trying to you would have done it earlier with that old man or at least with that disco robot.” With that the lights suddenly turned on, revealing a magnificent marble white room with a fountain right in the middle.

“Well played Ryan, well played, and well played Miss Carter, sorry that the robot got your name wrong. Oh don’t worry I do this to everyone,” The sultry voice of Valerie Harrison echoed throughout the room. She was standing on top of the staircase watching the two teens trying to figure out what happened. “Ryan was right I was not going to kill him and his girlfriend.”

“She’s not my girlfriend, Valerie.” He pointed at the strawberry blonde woman in a dull monotone voice.

Nicole shot back, “I have a boyfriend anyway,”

That single statement made Ryan turn around “I thought you broke up with Andrew, you showed me a text and everything.” He didn’t like being played by a woman even though it happened all the time. He looked annoyed at the fact that he got played again.

“I tried to tell you but you kept on worrying that he’ll beat you up. It doesn’t matter anyway because having a relationship shouldn’t affect my life working with you.” Nicole shot back also annoyed that it actually made a difference to anything.

“Okay then, well I assume that both Master Wallace and Miss Carter are with you?” Valerie smiled as she walked down the stairs slowly like a model down a runway. “Don’t answer that question,” Her sultry voice really did please Ryan as he couldn’t hide his big giant grin. “Please follow me, I have a present for you all,” She walked past them while clicking her fingers to grab Nicole and Ryan’s attention, so they could follow her.

The pair followed Valerie to a spectacular showroom full of chrome, lights and a lot of cars dating back from the 1930’s to now. “Oh my god this is heaven,” Ryan gleefully yelled as he was running around checking all the cars.

“There is a Chevy Camero from the 60’s, a T-Bird from the 50’s, Cadillac Convertible from the 50’s, Citroen DS,” He was having a fanboy moment. “There is Alfa Romeos, Plymouths, Ferraris, Bentleys, Gillets, Audis, Beemers, Mercs….THIS IS HEAVEN,” He yelled while Nicole rolled her eyes.

“What’s the surprise?” She asked trying to mask out the sound of Ryan yelling car brands and models.

“You guys get to keep one of my choices though. It will be American and not classic,” Valerie answered casually as her voice was overlapped by Ryan’s groaning and then squeals of enjoyment when seeing more cars. She opened the garage leading outside to reveal a car, “Okay it turns out I have one car and Miss Carter could you please drag Master Bianchi from his delight to see this car?” The car was under a white sheet with Valerie waiting to pull the string to reveal it. However the problem was Ryan because he was really enamored with all the cars as part of Valerie’s collection.

“Do we get the pick a car of our choice?” Ryan asked in hope with a broad grin on his face while Nicole rolled her eyes.

“No, now pay attention…” Valerie pulled the string and the car that was revealed was a 2014 Lincoln MKS Luxury with a silver exterior. Ryan quickly rushed to it and looked around leading to a hug where he lifted Valerie off the ground.

“This is awesome and I can’t wait to drive it. This is amazing,” He squealed in delight at the car. “What’s the specs?” he asked as Nicole again rolled her eyes cursing under her breath.

“Look it up on the internet now I will call you on your first mystery in 2 months, be prepared and now I must bid you adieu,” Valerie tossed the car keys to Nicole trusting her a lot more than Ryan. Then just like that disappeared from their sights.

“Freaky….CAN I DRIVE?” Ryan yelled at Nicole happily, surprising and scaring the living daylights out of the young strawberry blonde teen. “I mean look at this car, it has according to my knowledge it has a 3.7 litre V6 engine, 6 speed automatic transmission with paddle activation, the horsepower is at 304 at 6,500 while….” He kept on spewing more and more facts that made Nicole very disinterested until she looked inside the car.

She seemed really happy as well but hesitant in accepting such a gift, “We should return it but it looks amazing…what should I do?” She asked herself but she could only hear “Drive it, drive it, drive it,” which turned out to be Ryan’s voice in her ear whispering.

“Well Ryan, I’m driving because your breath still reeks of alcohol but thank you for a lovely time,” She giggled running as she jiggled the keys right in front of him. She opened the car and jumping into the driver’s seat. Ryan tried diving for it but landed on the buffalo grass face first. “Come on Ryan, this isn’t the time to graze. Get in.” Nicole giggled seeing an annoyed Ryan getting up and spitting out some grass. “We need to talk to your friend, Doug.”

10 Minutes Later

“Man this is a sweet ride, you guys are awesome.” Doug Wallace ran up to Ryan and Nicole and hugged them both with a very strong squeeze. “I would love to drive it, can I drive it?” He squealed in delight at the thought of himself driving down to countryside with the music blaring and the windows open.

“You can’t. Only Ryan and I are insured for this, so we have full responsibility. It is mainly Ryan’s but we can’t trust him.” Nicole pointed at Ryan who was too busy poking inside a tree with a stick and yelling a bird. “You see my point but you are just as bad especially because I remember telling my friend that you tried to jump on a llama to see if it could race. Wasn’t that the story you tried telling her to get in bed with her?” She glared at Doug while interrogating him.

“Yes I see your point, but see mine….nevermind,” He could see that there was nothing he could do especially since her glare scared him. The glare was that it could cut through death himself, it was ice cold and would strike your heart. "Go and find out what the heck he doin' with that tree,"

“Man this is going to be a weird ass adventure.” He muttered to himself watching Ryan and Nicole arguing about the tree. “One weird ass one but hell yeah it gonna be fun.”

I mean who doesn't love poking at trees.

I quite like the idea of an epilogue to a more realistic Scooby Doo gang. The first chapter was great, but I can't help but feel that the tone of the fic changed drastically after that. It started out all serious and emotional, but now it seems more silly and parodic. I'm not entirely sure which it's supposed to be. The characters are decent, though kind of over the top stereotypes. That makes sense though, given that this was inspired by a cartoon, it just seems weird that Ryan doesn't seem to have his character changed at all by spending years solving mysteries. I have similar observations regarding dialogue. Each character's speech is different and notable, but I can't help feeling that it's not entirely realistic. Again, it seems kind of over the top. Try reading each line of dialogue out loud to see if it actually sounds like something someone would say.

I like the idea, and you've clearly got some kind of plot going. Keep it up!

Review Extravaganza 8/50

All right as the beta reader to this story I think it's time I give a proper review of it of sorts. I do agree with what AetherX pointed out, though I always got the feeling that it was kind of parody-like even from the first chapter. I originally thought the first couple of a chapters were a bit stale though the basketball game in the second chapter was pretty good. The third and fourth chapter were better though and were also funnier if a bit strange at times.

Like AetherX said I don't think the dialogue is exactly bad, it's not, but I also think it can also come off as overdone at times, again to me that was mostly for the first couple of chapters, the last two did a lot better. What I do enjoy about this is the sense of realism the characters have in a sense while also going through a lot of nonsensical things, but it's fun to see them point out things that just don't match.

Thanks for your advice, both of you. I'm not a writer at all, so I take everything on board. Well I do write law essays but that's different.

Yay I back on my averagely poor fictional story.

Enjoy!!!!

Also changed Ryan's last name. There is a reason for it later and the introduction of two important characters.

Yay!!!

I need another drink....

Chapter 5 - "But he is so stupid,"

It was just your average day at your average high school. The day had just begun with students socializing around their lockers before the start of class. A group of teens were hanging posters all over the place much to the curiosity of a certain blonde male who much like the rest of the school was decked in a school uniform. The buildings though were pretty small like a tiny concrete jungle. Concrete everywhere except for inside the rooms and halls. Each grade had their own room where they would socialize, study and store their belongings inside lockers. The school was surrounded by a lake and woods that give it a fresh natural looking horizon. The uniform was a white shirt with black pants, a blue tie and a brown blazer for the men and for the women it was a white shirt with black pants or a grey skirt, a blue tie and a brown blazer.

“Huh…” Ryan stared at one of the posters after closing his locker to get his mathematics notes. “It’s dance prep already? Man time flies and that means I gotta find a date soon and the last dance didn’t go well,” He sighed while talking to Doug. “I still can’t believe that she turned out to be interested in girls and was just using me to meet another girl. Never thought that would be happen, I wonder how she’s doing.” The last dance for Doug didn't turn out well at all, actually it didn't go right at all because the last DJ was a hobo that one of the students found and paid with cheap wine. The music turned out to be music that no one could dance to as the drunken hobo preferred playing classical 19th century music.

“Guyyyssss!!!!!” a running flash of blonde, brown, white, blue and grey zoomed passed them before it stopped. “It’s dance planning time and guess who is on the planning committee?” a delighted Nicole squealed in delight, to her it was her time to shine.

“I’m going with that weird kid that likes to talk about his Pokemon Cards from 1998? Because I wouldn’t mind a Pokemon theme” Ryan answered with a little laugh as he started to walk towards a classroom, shooing a couple of pigeons that were feasting on someone's dropped fried rice.

“He means you Nicky and I know that means hottie babes galore,” Doug yawned pulling out a book from his locker. "And hopefully not a chick using me to get with another chick, man that was humiliating,"

“Yep those hottie babes that ignores you. Where’s Ryan going?” Nicole asked while leaning against Doug’s locker. “It’s not even class yet and I'm not that weird kid that likes Pokemon cards, I wonder if we do need streamers." She jumped at the sound of someone slamming their locker right next to her before staring at the locker.

“He does that fancy maths. Mr. Advanced Maths with all those nerds and geeks who play Warcraft and Dungeons and Dragons,” Doug answered while rummaging through his locker throwing out random bits of paper. "Hey my book, Catcher in the Rye, I wonder if that is about baseball and bread,"

“No way, the guy is stupid as it comes,” Nicole responded with utter disbelief on her face and voice. “Advanced Maths? That’s well advanced and he is stupid and it just doesn’t make sense. Anyway back to dance…ooofm,” Nicole was interrupted by a nudge.

“Hey watch it,” Her gaze turned towards a woman with long brown hair wearing a blue chiffon shirt with classic shirt collar, long sleeves with press stud cuffs along with a black skater skirt, black ankle heels, brown eyes and height that any girl would envy with an attitude to boot of course. She was followed by three other girls, two with black hair, one of them with a dark complexion and another with an olive complexion along with a golden blonde hair girl standing beside them.

“Eugh why don’t you watch it dance loser,” She spat back, “You were a cheerleader like us and now you are doing these little loser stuff. You were the chosen one, the one that was supposed to be balance to the cheerleaders but eugh we lost you to geek drama class and nerd stuff. Hmph….” She walked away with her group before turning around and shooting a glare.

“That spiteful witch, she’s just jealous that she can’t even on dance planning,” Nicole scoffed as she looked at girl walking away with her clique, “People don’t talk to her. Little snobbish daddy’s princess thinks she is all that.” Nicole muttered in disgust. “Heel boy, you don’t want to go there Dougie,” Her expression changed to laughter after looking at Doug staring at the girls. “Plus you’ll be rejected badly.”

"Hey it beats last year's date," He grinned as he chased after one of the girls.

“I can’t believe Nicole got the job, I’m prettier and I know what people want,” The brunette teen thought while she was walking alone into an old classroom which had flicking lights, a fan that didn't even work, dusty tables and windows along with chairs that were broken or partly broken. She was expecting to see some old professor who would tutor her in math. It wasn’t like the girl was failing but she really wanted help. Abigail (Abbie) Healy was always seen as the mean girl that was vapour, petty and of course beautiful. She was popular but not well liked because of her attitude and that she was a real demon in gym class and sports. Nicole was seen as the better, more liked version of Abbie which always angered her. She was also one of the richest students in the school which did not please people at all. Her father being a CEO and her mother being a model did not help her cause one bit. “Hello?” She called out expecting to hear a voice in return. “Oh great I stuck in a room with a tutor who doesn’t even talk. I’m so getting daddy to hire me a tutor but no a school is better…Hmph” Abbie sat down and waited before texting on her phone. That was until the door creaked open which stole Abbie’s attention from her phone to the man walking in.

“Bianchi?” Abbie shook her head, “What are you doing here? Oh no…oh no no no….NO!!!” she screamed in disbelief as she stood up. “But you’re just a basketball guy and like you’re not supposed to be smart, you thought Catcher in the Rye was about bread.”

“And I didn’t expect to be tutoring you. Aren’t you rich enough to buy like a university?” Ryan sat down at a table in front of the chestnut brown hair teen who rivaled Ryan in height. "Or at least your dad and it is not my fault, the book plainly said rye and rye is a type of bread, stupid snooty authors."

“Daddy says if I don’t improve my grades…” She took a deep breath, “And…he’ll take my credit card privileges…I can’t bear to be poor and odd like Nicole and the rest of the school…no offense.” Abbie looked at Ryan, "At least I get a cute tutor," She took out her books while in thought.

“Hey…anyway you are a C+ average student in math. Which grade does your dad want?” Ryan asked as he looked at Abbie’s marks and transcript in a piece of paper right in front of him. The room creaked as a myna bird pecked at the window, it was really an old room that still had posters celebrating Lyndon B. Johnson's presidency and a map where Africa was still basically colonies of Europe.

“A- and how did you get so smart. I mean it’s you,” She sniped back in her posh snobbish voice. “You’re an idiot, I mean all you do is play sport and solve mysteries like Scooby Doo,”

“Says the girl who averages a C+,” Ryan muttered looking at Abbie, “Well at least you haven’t done anything wrong except called me names throughout school since we’ve known each other but hey let’s work.” Ryan and Abbie had a history of them calling each other names, teasing each other and basically they kind of somewhat respected each other to a certain degree. It was a friendship with a lot of hate in it minus the fact that they were friends but they didn't hate each other.

“Like what’s with you and Nicole?” Abbie asked taking her eyes off her work to look at Ryan. “You guys are totally really close to each other and let’s face it you could do better like that girl that Doug took to the dance, the girl that liked other girls, she was really like totally smart as well,” She tapped her pen on the table which made the table next to her fell apart.

“Eyes on the math, Abbie,” He didn’t look at her while talking, “Nicole and I aren’t interested in each other. She’s got a boyfriend who we play against in basketball and now let’s make those eyes focus on the math.” Another table collapsed right in front of Ryan, "Errr...I really need to get a better room, a room that doesn't say the Soviet Union is evil," Referring to a poster on the wall which explained why the Soviet Union was the enemy of the United States. It basically seemed that the room had not been changed since Nixon came to power.

“Ooh scandalous,” Abbie squealed in delight of sweet juicy gossip.

“No, not really,”

“Like say you…eugh whatever I’ll focus on the math then, I still can’t believe I’m being tutored by you.” Abbie whined while leaning her chair backwards. “You better be good at this stuff because if I fail, I’m going to make sure that you can’t play sport for this school.”

“Rrrriiighttt…you’ll be fine….now get to work,” Ryan ordered with authority. He felt like a teacher except he didn’t really know how to teach and it just hit him that he wasn’t getting paid for this. “God dammit, I should get paid for this, stupid school funding.” He thought while turning his head to look at the dusty blackboard behind him which still had the words 'Man will land on the moon,'.

***

The school day progressed as normal but there wasn’t much to do in the free study period. There were about 30 odd kids in the study room taking a breather from school. It was not like they were going to study anyway. The guys from the basketball team were talking about Carmelo Anthony and why he should have gone to Chicago while the people who were actually studying had their headphones on despite playing their music so loud that it was more distracting than anything. The popular girls, including Abbie, were talking about fashion and gossiping about who had the worst hair and Nicole. Other students were just doing their own things or talking among each other as students do.

“Math class…” Nicole sighed “Why does it always go bad?” She leaned against her locker holding her math book. “There is no way that Abbie out all people, could score perfect score on a math test. She’s an airhead, they don’t care about math. She probably had someone do the test for her obviously. That little powder puff,” She slammed her locker after putting her math book away.

The teacher walked in looking very disinterested and dressed in a simple cardigan top and a pencil skirt. She had long light brown hair and her face was showing her age, stress and a lot of wrinkles. “Okay another fun day of me teaching all of you before you proceed to not care and I proceed to not care as you fail in exams. So here we are.”

She was known as Mrs Guthrie and she slammed a textbook down on the table. “Before we go into the basics of simple calculus for the 5th time because I lost my sanity when I took this job, I have to announce the exam results,” She then pulled out a paper. “In short again we struggled with the most basic concepts and basically what I covered before the test. However in surprising news someone managed to get 100% again and this time I will reveal the name,” Mrs Guthrie sat down and read out the name in a monotone drone “Abbie Healy….”

“But they have hotties, man, I should ask one of them to prom. You gonna go with your boyfriend?” Doug asked while staring at the passing girls. Nicole responded to Doug’s question with a little snappiness in her tone, “I can’t because apparently there are regulations and rules where you need to have a date from this school, so no I do not have a date and no one has asked me due to the assumption that I’ll be going to with my boyfriend,” She turned her attention to the snobby ‘popular’ girls that just walked past. “Don’t play with fire or you’re going to get burned by those witches.”

“Why are you so peeved, anyway?” He asked while texting on his phone try to figure out whom to go with to the prom later on. “Why don’t you ask Ryan? I know he doesn’t have a date date.” He responded with pure boredom in his voice.

“I am not peeved. She is not smart, there is no way she did not cheat and I’m going to find out why,” She was seething until a gawky, skinny teen with a white, pale complexion walked up to her and Doug. He had messy light brown hair with his brown eyes, he had a couple of pimples here and there. He wore a brown jumper, ripped jeans and worn out sneakers. He stared at the pair creating a very awkward between the three teens. “So can I do something for you?” Nicole asked the odd looking teen.

“Hi, my name is Matthew and I want to ask you Nicole…” He took a deep breath and a little gulp of air before muttering, “If you go to the prom with me?” He looked around hoping that only Nicole heard him. It was pretty easy considering that Doug was texting and not paying attention. “Now I know what you are going to say and I know you can’t go with your boyfriend, so what about me. I’m the second best guy out there,” Matthew had a wide grin on his face. “So what about it?” He pulled out a tall red rose from inside his pants which Nicole found icky.

Nicole’s eyes widened with shock, she was not expecting someone of Matthew’s social status and unkept looks to ask her out, She didn't want to go out with a guy who pulled out a tall red rose from inside his pants. “I’m flattered Matthew but you were just a couple minutes short. Doug is taking me…right Doug?” She smiled nervously as she elbowed the tall male in the ribs who was still texting.

“Huh…oh yeah totally babe.” He answered before moving his attention back on his phone. “Owww!!!” until he got elbowed by her again.

“I’m so sorry,” She smiled “But there are plenty girls out there like…Abbie. Why don’t you ask Abbie? She’ll love to go with you,” She felt bad because Matthew did ask her and she did send her to a possible hell where if he did ask Abigail or her friends, he would suffer a fate worse than eating a rubber chicken with no fork and knife.

“Oh really, I knew girls like her couldn’t resist my charm,” Matthew smiled and nodded his head before walking up to the popular brunette. Nicole and Doug winced when they could see Matthew walk up to Abbie who seemed be alone now. They both knew that they had set up Matthew for something far worse than getting injured on the football field.

They winced when they heard Abbie yelling, “Ewww no gross!!!” followed by a charming “That’s so like disgusting and vile, there is no way I would even think about going to the prom with you,” In her lovely Valley Girl voice which was high pitched and snobbish. Her tone was venomous but the response from Matthew was one that shocked Nicole and Doug.

“I will make you pay, I will make you suffer.” They both blinked hoping that was an empty threat. Nicole despised Abbie and her friends but she would never wish ill on them unless it was food poisoning from a rouge sushi. Matthew walked away towards the gardens of cacti that the school had to promote the multicultural of flora.

“We should check on Matthew before you know he goes crazy,” Doug whispered with Nicole responding with a slight nod as they quickly jogged to follow the geeky looking male.

Ryan was talking to a skinny kid who was adjusting his glasses. He had black hair kid, whose hair was pretty short, a brown complexion, and he went by the name of Nuwan Vithanage from a Sri Lankan heritage. He was wearing a white shirt and brown shorts and was pretty average in height. Nuwan was very bright, he was an A grade student excelling in everything but sports (except cricket and golf) and art but that did not matter to him because he had a fair few amount of friends. “So I was saying that we make the product now and then kingdom come, we are set for the Future Entrepreneurs,” The Future Entrepreneurs was a program outside of school which was designed for students to create and market their own products. They had just come out of a modern classroom after their Future Entrepreneurs extra curricular class.

Ryan shrugged “We made the product and I got sales going, we should be in a good spot. Man I’m more tweaked ahead of the dance like next week, I don’t even have a date. I mean there is Nicole but she has a boyfriend, you know.”

“I don’t but I am going with a girl from Future Entrepreneurs, the one with the glasses.” Nuwan smugly as people just passed them on their way to their classes, “You better find a date,” He adjusted his glasses while Ryan leaned against a wall whilst his hands were over his face. “Oh it’s not that hard, I mean if I can get a date, surely you can. I mean how many days to date? Three? It is no big deal,” He put his hand on Ryan’s shoulder. “I don’t even know why you are stressed about it. I mean it is only the biggest event of high school…I’m not helping am I?” Nuwan looked at Ryan shaking his head.

"Well I do have an idea, Nuwan" Ryan mused to himself, "I could dress up as a girl and go with some dude, right?" He smiled broadly at his stupid idea. The response from Nuwan was delivered in a monotone voice. "That is a stupid idea, how do you even come up with these stupid ideas? Anyway come over with some cricket sess?"

"Mate, I'm always keen," smiled Ryan as they started to walk on their way to their next and last class of the day.

So yeah that something, so yeah I'm not a story writer more or an economic writer. Funny how that works out.

Another lame, dull, terrible chapter from moi but eh at least it is better than watching 'Santa Claus Conquers the Martians'. A terrible movie it is. Anyway here we go and thanks for Flaze who somewhat helped me with this, I really appreciate all the help I got because boy howdy did I need it.

Chapter 6 - "Step into the prom life"

It was the night of nights on the social calendar for all the students. It was the night of prom and all that hard work and lack of studying led to a day of relaxation. For Abigail Gordon though, it was going to be one of the most important in her life. Her aim was to become prom queen like her friends which was an aim that she held since starting school. She needed to find a date like all her friends to boost her chances to win. Abbie was the lone single girl who was repeatedly asked out by several guys and a few girls but she needed someone to not lower her social status for date.

Abbie lived in a giant mansion, one of the biggest in the area with her father and a couple of maids, butlers and a driver. Her mother went to Switzerland after the divorce and they never had a relationship at all. Her father on the other hand was someone she looked up to but rarely saw. He was a big businessman in finance even though she would tell everyone in school that he was just a hotel CEO to make her father sound ‘cool’ and less geeky in her opinion. He did have a proper parent relationship with Abigail as she was his only child and nor did he even re-marry or dated anyone at all. That left him to give his undivided attention to his daughter and his work, mainly the latter. She didn’t mind it at all because she had all the maids and butlers to take care of her and to spend time with along with her ‘friends’.

Abigail Gordon, the second fiddle of popular girls, the Robin or the Supergirl of the school. She wasn’t the absolute popular girl, she wasn’t dating the quarterback or the head cheerleader however she was high on the social ladder even though she was seen as a sidekick or a lackey to the most popular girls of the school. It didn’t matter to her as long as she thought she was liked. She stared at herself from her giant mirror as she tried to figure out how to make herself look as perfect as possible. Her room was giant spacious room with a king-sized bed, light blue lace curtains, a few items of décor to comply with the dark blue motif theme that started with the walls. There were various giant stuffed animals neatly placed on the base of her pillows on top of her bed and an art deco poster of New York City in the 1930’s. She had a giant screen television plastered on the wall of her bedroom with stacks of Blu-ray CDs stacked on top of a black cabinet containing music CDs, a stereo and an old, dusty Playstation 2 behind protective glass.

“I hope this dress helps me win Prom Queen, Daddy did pay 400 dollars for it.” Abbie posed in lovely black gown with a turtle neckline bodice, cap sleeves and dazzling tonal lace topped by an illusion lining. The full length gown slides to a spit hemline creating a lovely chic and classy look. Her lovely silky brown hair was swept to the right. “I don’t know if it makes me look older, maybe that’s a good. Oh I don’t know….” She closed her eyes and sat on her bed. “Why is this so hard? Like I shouldn’t even question myself? I’m a like a fashion know-it-all and these other girls don’t even know anything about fashion unless I told them…hmmm? I’m thinking too much.” She pondered as she hugged her stuffed koala.

A bright light shone from Abbie’s window. “Oh no,” She looked at it as she quickly rushed to put her long silver earrings on and to grab her purse. “He is here with a Lincoln? Like that’s strange, that’s an expensive car.” She blinked a few times before running down several flights of stairs in her large white mansion with a long driveway lit up by small florescent garden lights and a fountain with blue lights for added light effects, to a golden security gate which led to the car that was parked outside . She looked at the car for a few seconds before taking a deep breath until she realized that she was barefoot, holding her black heels with one hand and the other hand holding her black gown as she quickly made her way to the car.

“Sorry I forgot to put them on,” Abbie held her black heels as she had the door opened for her by her date. “I am so like sorry that took so long, Ryan.” She said in her valley girl voice, as she put her heels on. “Hey you look pretty sharp,” She smiled while taking a glance at Ryan. He was wearing a black suit jacket with a light-ish blue collared buttoned shirt with a scarlet tie.

“Not compared to you, man….” Ryan couldn’t believe how beautiful Abbie looked, that he blinked several times and ran his eyes up and down his date. “You look absolutely stunning, I’m actually really stunned…wow…oh right.” He smiled as he pulled out a bouquet of red roses from the back seat of his Lincoln. “Here for you,” He gave Abbie the bouquet of roses before starting up the car.

“Why thank you, I do like them a lot,” Abbie took a whiff of the flowers before putting them at the back seat of the car. “Like I have two questions,”

“Shoot,” Ryan muttered as he drove back on to the asphalt road that was dimly lit by the street lights and the Lincoln’s headlights. There were no other cars on the road and barely any other lights on even by the other rich, expensive houses on the same street.

“Why did you ask me to be your date and how did you get this car?” She asked as she looked at him, “I mean like you had Nicugly, I mean Nicole. I thought you and here were like super close even though she has a boyfriend but she’s going with your best friend, so why did you like totally ask me?” She took her phone out and took a selfie before turning her gaze back to Ryan.

Ryan stopped at a red light before shrugging, “Some lady gave it to me kind of, I think and well I guess it is because Nicole and I are just friends and it doesn’t matter you know. I’m cool with it but why did you accept me?” He turned the tables on her before staring at a police car that drove through a red line with the siren on.

“Because you helped me get my grades up and Daddy said it would be right to help someone who helped you.” The brunette teen smiled, staring at the road and cars that zoomed past at the intersection. “I can’t wait to be prom queen…umm like the light is green.”

“I know, I know,” The blonde male muttered as he accelerated quickly, “So what happens if you don’t win?”

“I’ll just give up, I’m destined for this. I can’t like bear to lose.” She looked at the surroundings as they stopped right at another traffic light. The surroundings included an old style movie theatre with a neon sign with the words matinee. “I really want to win,” Abbie sighed unhappily. “What happens if I don’t win? I’ll move to Alaska or worse, Cleveland. I don’t wanna go to Cleveland,” She whined as Ryan started to fiddle with the glove compartment placed above the air-conditioner and radio on the dashboard of the car.

“Hey, hey don’t worry about that,” Ryan placed his hand on her shoulder before withdrawing his hand back on the steering wheel. “You’ll win because you are smart and beautiful plus haven’t you heard about the Ghost of the Prom Queen?”

“Errr like no,” She moved her grey-blue eyes to Ryan. “What’s the Ghost of the Prom Queen?” She asked as she pulled out a mirror and her makeup kit to apply some bright red, strawberry lipstick.

“Well the story goes like this….” Ryan relaxed with his right hand on the wheel and is left hand was waffling on making gestures as he started to tell a story to his date.

“There was this girl named Stephanie Curry about 40 or so years ago. She was the most popular girl in the school and had a quarterback boyfriend. Anyway she won Prom Queen on this day except something was wrong. She went absolutely crazy when she found out that it was not the real result, she had lost by one vote. She went absolutely crazy…oh wait I just said that. Anyway she broke up with her boyfriend because she assumed he was cheating on her which he wasn’t. Then she placed a curse on all Prom Queens from this school because of this injustice. She took dragged the actual prom queen from her bed and stood with her in front of the road naked. She started to sing ‘All good girls go to heaven’ before she and the other girl got his by a bus.” Ryan told the brunette woman sitting next to him.

“Then what happened?” Abbie looking a bit worried yet interested, really wanted to hear more about this story. The way that Ryan told the story really did draw her in. She found it little crazy but stranger things have happened to her.

“She died on the spot but the other girl was paralysed. Every single prom queen since then would suffer a misfortune such as death, losing their money, teenage pregnancy even though that’s not a misfortune or a drug addiction.” He tapped the dashboard with his left hand. “Anyway every time the prom queen would appear, you would hear ‘All good girls go to heaven’, and then something bad would happen to them as a pale white ghost with long blonde hair and a pink fluffy dress would appear and boom, so I guess it is not true but it is still a funny story right?”

“As if,” She scoffed. “It is totally lame and so not funny either, stop trying to scare me with your totally bogus stories,“ Abbie scoffed as Ryan drove to the parking lot of the school. There were several cars assuming that so many of them would be prepared for backseat adventures later on in the night.

The hall was packed full of teenagers, DJ and a couple of bands, the décor of the school hall was made formal. There were satin, a buffet table, waiters and round tables with white sheets topped with flowers, golden decorations and cutlery. There were girls in very formal dresses ranging for low cut to full length gown while the guys were either decked out in suits or tuxedos that either fit really well or were too big or too small for some of the students. “Shall we mingle, mademoiselle?” Ryan asked holding his right hand out to Abbie.

She took his hand and added “Oui!!!” in delight. They walked to all of Abbie’s friends first and their boyfriends. They all played sports but all for the same football team, the quarterback, the running back and the defensive linesman while Ryan played other sports that did not capture the . He stared at the girls who were compared to Abbie, wearing dresses that just weren’t up to the standard of Abbie’s, they exceeded it and Ryan could not take his eyes off them. They did not seem happy at all, if anything all the mingling was very tense ever since Abigail started to talk to them. He stared at Abbie who was looking extremely stressed, her eyes moving around, not a smile on her face while taking deep breathes. She did not look like she was friendly terms with them, it was like there were some words exchanged between the girls in front of the brunette teen.

“Let’s go,” She grabbed him by the arm and dragged him towards a few students whom were dancing in the dance floor, away from all the tables and just underneath the colored lights that flickered over the area like a club. “Let’s go like dance, I just want to get away from them.” Her eyes focused on her so-called friends. Her tone was agitated as the brunette teen dragged him, pretty forcefully.

“Could I ask what’s wrong?” He asked while stopping her from dragging him any further around the hall. “Look don’t worry about them.” The blonde teen nervously smiled, trying to figure out how to calm down his date. “They are just jealous I think, well that’s just an assumption from watching them I guess and errr let’s dance?” He shrugged before making his way ahead of Abigail towards the dancefloor.

“I guess…also because like there is total competition between all four of us for prom queen, so let’s dance.” She smiled while dragging Ryan again towards him the dance floor. They started to dance to a variety of songs being played by a DJ that seemed to be plucked out of a nightclub even though Ryan was not much of a dancer. However he gave it a go and actually enjoyed it with Abbie even though she was struggling to dance with her black gown and her heels.

Elsewhere Nicole was watching Ryan and Abbie dance from her chair with her elbows resting on the table. She was wearing a blue evening gown but nothing fancy at all, it just looked like a normal prom dress. She didn’t look happy at all as she flicked her strawberry blonde hair in front of Doug. “I can’t believe that she and Ryan went together, she is a powder puff and how did they even decide on this? It is not right at all.” She slammed her hand on the circular table creating a little jump from Doug.

“Are you jelly, Nic?” Doug smiled as he put his head next to her. “They look like they are having fun, heck they look like a great couple….OWW!!!” He was elbowed by Nicole right in the stomach winding him. “So…not…cool,” Doug clutched his stomach as he tried to pour himself a glass of water with the water filled jugs available on the table.

“I may be jealous because he deserves better than that stupid princess, I don’t get it. What does she have that I…I mean better girls don’t have?” She snarled while watching Abbie and Ryan talking to Nuwan who was wearing a black suit, a black tie and white collared shirt, who was with another girl who had platinum blonde hair, thick rimmed black glasses and wearing a dark red high cut dress.

“Beautiful looks, she rich…god dammit Nicole, stop elbowing me in the stomach,” coughed Doug as he clutched his stomach as she elbowed him again. “Don’t you have a boyfriend anyway…wait a second…you have a crush on Ryan or something?” He asked while drinking another glass of water.

“Nooo, nooooo, I’m just hate Abbie so much. I mean I have a boyfriend and I don’t have a crush on Ryan.” She scoffed not even looking at Doug. “I mean seriously that’s just crazy, I mean let’s talk to some people…seriously me having a crush on Ryan. That’s just silly.” Nicole laughed as she got up and skipped towards a few other students nearby.

-----------

Everyone was dancing the night, sitting around doing nothing or screwing around outside the hall, a lot of was happening at the prom. However it was time to announce the prom king and queen and this was the moment that Abbie was waiting for. She watched as a balding grey man who happened to be the principal, came on to the stage wearing a grey suit and black trousers. He got the attention from the crowd with several cheers greeting him for the fact that he was going to make the announcement of the prom queen and king.

“Wish me luck,” Abbie whispered as she tightly squeezed Ryan’s right arm. The rest of the crowd were just as tense to see who would win and if there would be an upset at all.

“Err sure good luck, ouch” Ryan whispered back as she replied by tightening her grip on his arm. “Painful, so very painful,” he thought as he couldn’t feel his right arm, the one that she was grabbing on to.

“Ladies and gentlemen, it is time for me finally to announce the prom king and queen. They will do the customary dance after the announcement and let’s get this done already because my wife is complaining that I spend too much time with you kids and not my own children. Don’t get married, kids, “The grey balding principal was ready to announce the names of the king and queen. “The Prom King is Roger Carlisle, our favourite quarterback, congrats son and you are a role model for all of us,” To which a large, tall male with spiky black hair walked up to the stage with cheers and loud clapping to receive his little gold plated crown. He waved to the crowd before sitting down on a plump red throne which looked really cheap. “And now the prom queen is none other than Nicole Carter…wait really? Are we sure that this right? Oh so it is, well congrats Miss Carter, may you do something productive in life,” The principal who could not be bothered anymore just walked off stage.

Nicole’s eyes widened as she heard her name being announced. It was a total surprise to the school body as everyone was expecting one of the snobbish popular girls to win. It was, if anything a pleasant surprise to the school. She walked carefully on stage and received her gold plated crown before sitting down.

Abbie did not take it well, she ran outside without anyone noticing her except Ryan. She ran outside and looked at the lake nearby. Tears formed in her grey-blue eyes as she stood right in front of a green metal railing as she slammed her left fist on it. Her dream was crushed right in front of her by a girl that she disliked, no disliked, she cried on her arm before composing herself. She was all alone by herself until she felt something covering her shoulders. Abbie looked around looked up to see that her shoulders were covered by a black suit jacket.

“Are you okay?” A male voice tried to reassure her in the best awkward way he could. His voice was awkward in tone and unsure but he figured that it was better than watching girls hitting on Rogers to no avail. Abbie turned around to see Ryan standing in front of her without his jacket. “You seemed cold and don’t worry, you can let it go.” Not really understanding what would happen next. He had a feeling that she would actually punch him in the face.

She started to cry on his shoulder while trying to speak, “I wanted…to…win…so badly,” Her words broken apart by tears and sniffles. “It wasn’t fair at all.” as she slammed her fist on his chest which made him wince with every punch. She did hit a lot harder than he expected but he was relieved that she stopped bawling her eyes out and she did not punch him in the face.

“Hey, hey, you have more to offer than prom queen. Look at you, you have totally improved your grades a lot. You were so remarkably hard working that you managed to excel in a subject at our school where many screw up.” Ryan put his arm around as she was trying compose herself once more even though her eyes were red. “You are like bloody beautiful and look Nicole won because she was just…wait how did she win? I know she is hot but how did she win? But anyway you are going to be a lot more successful than some stupid title that no one will remember at all, it’s like that movie, ‘Santa Claus Conquers the Martians,’” He explained while holding to a handkerchief that was in his suit jacket.

“Really? You really mean that?” Abbie smiled as the last few tears ran down her face even though she didn’t understand how that movie was supposed to make her feel happy but she appreciated the fact that someone cared other than her father and several of her maids and butlers. She took his handkerchief and blew her nose. “Thank you so much, you don’t know how better I feel because I’m not going to get killed by a ghost prom queen,” She stared at him and then gave Ryan a little hug. “I guess it is some like silly title and at least the ghost prom queen won’t be going for like me,” She laughed as she dried her eyes with his suit jacket. “Let’s go back and dance before people think like we are totally doing it,” a massive smile crept on her face as she did a little twirl.

“Bianchi, I’m sorry to interrupt you and your well whatever she is, I’m not judging you,” The pair were startled by a big, tall man with a muscular body. He was wearing a Chicago White Sox cap over his graying brown hair and a brown jacket along with dark blue jeans and white runners. “I need you to come to my office for a second and you can bring along your friend. This is really important Bianchi,”

“Err yeah sure coach but I do have a first name,” Ryan turned to his face the school gym teacher. “You don’t mind, do you Abbie?” He looked at the brunette teen next to him in her beautiful black dress who was smiling even though her eyes were still a little bit red. She replied with a very monotone "eh" as she followed the two men.

----------------------------

All three reached the office of the coach which was pretty cramped with a wooden door that had no widows at all and a stiff wooden doorknob that was difficult to twist. There was a little desk with a laptop, writing equipment while the walls were decorated with shelves that held gold trophies which were next to a framed picture of Charles Oakley eating an orange.

“Alright Bianchi and whatever your name is, please take a seat.” There was one problem, there were no chairs. The awkwardness began as the pair of them shifted looks between each other trying to figure out how they would sit down.

It came to be that Ryan stood up while Abbie sat on the desk, straightening her legs to avoid anything going wrong with her gown. “So why did you call me anyway?” Ryan asked while looking at the coach that they call ‘Coach’ like in Cheers except without the bartending.

“I lost you Bianchi, I lost you to those darn European sports, you and that European girl,” The Coach sighed as he slumped on the lone chair in his office which was behind quite a few golden trophies. Most of the golden trophies were for American football and wrestling. They looked old and the shine was non-existent. They were outshone by the ‘Charles Oakley eating an orange’ picture

“I’m not like European at all,” Abbie exclaimed as she put her hands on her hips, “He has a European last name, I mean like Bianchi is like Italian and French,” but she was ignored.

“I sent some tapes over to people I know that are in the know, you know…well you don’t,” He added as he opened up his Acer Laptop. “He sent it to others and there are 4 of those soccer leagues that are interested in you and sure enough they want to see you play live,” The Coach put his head in his hands while adding a resigned “I can’t believe I lost a basketball player to soccer, I mean it’s soccer…here are the teams that are interested.”

“Oh my god, that’s incredible,” Ryan looked at the screen while Abbie peeked from the side, her hands on his arm and the desk. “I mean I never thought I would pursue a career out of football at all, I just do well at the Youth Leagues and I can’t believe these leagues would look at me like that.”

“Oooh that sounds so like awesome, I’m like the only one here that knows right?” Abbie asked the Coach who nodded slowly still upset over the fact that he lost an athlete to football. “I promise not to tell a soul except my stuffed animals because they are totally in the know, you know…like as if I’ll tell people at school.” Her response was met with a raised eyebrow from Ryan. “I’m serious, I would not tell a soul, I like really, really for sure promise.” She replied in her high pitched valley girl voice.

“You better not, I can’t believe…wait the K-League? South Korea? Really? I don’t even know any of the teams, I don’t play them in FIFA at all,” Ryan was gobsmacked as he looked at the reports from the K-League until he looked down at the rest of the document. “Swiss League, League One and Serie A?” His eyes gleamed in joy as he jumped around in joy

“Oh my god….like…what….” The brunette teen looked absolutely confused as she watched Ryan jumping around like a crazy fool.

“Serie A, Abbie…” He laughed in absolute joy while jumping around the small office, “Serie A, that’s one of the best leagues in the World, I can’t believe it.” He stopped jumping but the wide happy smile was still plastered on his face.

Suddenly a loud bang was made and people were running and screaming outside from the hall as more loud bangs were being made. Ryan gently placed Abbie on the ground and gently opened the wooden door to look outside. More loud noises like explosions from the hall and the parking lot followed, something was amiss. Ryan ran outside without hesitation trying to figure out what was happening. The sound of screaming in terror echoed around the school, police and fire engine sirens in the horizon but they weren’t anywhere close. The blonde teen started to run towards the hall as if it were his duty. He ran on concrete, on grass and on mud, trying to get as fast as possible to the hall.

“May I have the exact details of which teams are interested in Ryan Bianchi?” Abbie sweetly asked the coach as she tried to get a glimpse of the coach’s laptop. He mumbled a few words under his breath before giving the brunette teen the details written on a sticky note. “Thank you,” She waltzed out of the office. “What is happening?” She wondered as she witnessed several people running and screaming for their lives. She took a deep sigh as she ran across the wet sloshed up grass to find Ryan, “Rest in peace, my shoes. They are so gone and so is my gown, total bummer,” Abbie pouted as she could feel all the moisture and mud on her shoes. She ran past several people running in the opposite direction away from the hall, she could hear the screaming which was really irritating her.

Ryan on the other hand continued to run like Abbie towards the direction where everyone else was running from. He bumped into a shorter male with a dark complexion and jet black hair with glasses, which was knocked to the ground, “Nuwan, what on Earth is happening?” Ryan asked while he watched his friend pick up his glasses.

Nuwan cleaned his glasses and dusted off his jacket before answering, “There was some ghost, she looked like she was a hippie and she came and said that she was going to take revenge on all the popular girls including the prom queen and she went ballistic.” He started to explain as he put his glasses back on, “She then started to create some explosions and the girls vanished without a trace, she vowed to take revenge on the prom queen and her cronies, thankfully no one is hurt though…oh hello Abigail,” Nuwan waved at Abbie who was running while holding up the bottom of her black gown. “And oh she exploded your car, your Lincoln among others,” Nuwan looked to see more people running past them, screaming their heads off.

“MY CAR?” Ryan fell on his knees while yelling in a mix of sadness and anger with his arms slamming the wooden floor of the hall. “WHY? THAT MONSTER,” The sound of several car alarms going off and blaring in the background sounding like a concert, drowned out Ryan’s yelling.

“The Ghost of the Prom Queen…like I thought it was a legend or a totally fake, crappy story created by Ryan,” Abbie exclaimed in a shocked and surprised tone as she heard the news about Ryan’s car, his Lincoln being blown up among others. “But if this is true, what should we do?” She asked a confused Nuwan and a distressed Ryan who was still on his knees and sounding like he was crying.

"What do we do?"

Okay dokey. If you managed to survive that, I give you kudos. As many kudos I can find in Kyrgyzstan. Ehhh it could be worse. Anyway thanks for reading and reading through all this crud.

Ta.

Lyrebird.

Okay - Well I'm so not a writer and nor do I plan to be. So basically here is the stunningly terrible chapter of whatever.

YAY!!!!

I'm just doing this because I have to finish it...

-------------

As we last joined the group
- Abigail lost prom queen.
- School is on fire.
- The police force are inept.
- Nicole has gone missing along with 3 other girls.
- Doug is nowhere to be found.
- Ryan's car got blown up.
- And there is apparently a Prom Queen Ghost.

------------------

Chapter 7 - It's time to boggle!

“You didn’t even pay for the car!” Abigail shook her head as she looked at the depressed Ryan. “You got it from a lady that you can’t find anymore. Like do you so not see the problem here?” She took a deep breath in frustration. “Enough is enough….” Abigail added, readying her right hand by raising it upwards. She suddenly slapped Ryan across the face, quickly slapping him yet again for good measure. “We get it. A car that you got for free from some strange woman got destroyed by some ghost that totally attacks girls and wears a tacky, glittery pink dress.”

“Speaking of glitter, there is a lot of it on the ground with some dirt. So I’m beginning to think that this ghost isn’t legit at all.” Nuwan pointed out as he took out a cotton swab and wiped a decent amount of dirt. “And ghosts never walk at all unless they are walking ghosts, if that’s the case we are stuffed.”

“Fine Abbie, I’m over the car and stuff. Wait you carry cotton swabs to a prom? Dude, what the hell is wrong with you?” Ryan stared Nuwan in sheer disbelief. “It’s never a ghost, from all my experiences, it is never a ghost. Always either some farmers, disgruntled former pop singers dumped by their record label, hobos, bank tellers or some ex-lovers, it is never a ghost at all.” He rubbed his cheek still tingling from Abbie’s right hand. “Speaking of which, could someone call Doug? I don’t have batteries after I texted my parents and Abbie took my phone to take selfies.” Ryan explained as he held on to a black Android Phone.

“Hey, I totally didn’t take the selfies, loser,” Abigail exclaimed as she put her hands on her hips. “You totally took the selfies using your phone, like how dare you blame me for your stupidity of not charging your phone,” She stared at Ryan with her blue eyes, not impressed with him whatsoever. Abigail quickly turned and looked at Nuwan collecting more samples, “For once I’m glad that we have one of those smart people here, like you know to do the sciency thingy.”

“Thingy?” Ryan laughed until he remembered his car. “Damn fake ghost…” He muttered before turning to the group, “Okay to the Science Labs!!!!” He yelled with his finger pointing up in the air. He looked around to see both Abigail and Nuwan quietly walking away towards the science labs. “Oh come on guys, don’t ruin my fun.” He said, unhappily trudging behind them.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

The walk to the science labs was bit of a trek for Abigail who was currently shivering as it got much colder. They were in the outskirts of the school where there was water dripping from cold metal pipes, sounds of crickets and a sheep which was snoring. “Why do we live in a town with the most like stupid cops? Why couldn’t I live in New York or Sweden?” She whined while shivering and rubbing her arms to get warm. Her black, full length gown slid to a spit hemline and heels didn’t do her any favour at all.
Ryan placed his suit jacket over her shoulders, something that she happily accepted. “Why Sweden?” He was now fiddling with his shirt, trying to untuck it quickly.

“Health care,” Nuwan answered, “Shouldn’t one of us call Doug and Nicole and ask where they are?” He pulled out his phone and chucked it to Abigail who then dropped it. “Oh my phone’s an iPhone…oh wait it is an iPhone!!!!” Nuwan exclaimed. “Please don’t break….” Abigail rolled her eyes after hearing the Sri Lankan teen worry about his phone’s welfare.

She went to pick it up before dropping her own phone on the ground. “Oh no…Daddy told me not to drop my phone like again.” It was a long process for her to pick up her phone and Nuwan’s. Abigail could not bend down due to her dress, so she had to do a yoga pose before getting on her knees to pick up the phones from the cold, dark concrete ground. “This is so like really uncomfy…” She quietly said, the discomfort in her voice evident. Despite this, she successfully picked them up and dialed Nicole’s number.

There were no dial tones. It went straight to a female voice ‘This number does not exist’. Abigail hung up and stared intensely into space with a smoulder planted on her face for no apparent reason other than she thought it looked great. “Yo Abbie, what happened?” Ryan waved his hand in front of her face before flicking a tiny strand of her lovely brown hair.

“Oh whoops sorry!” Abigail returned to Earth, blinking a few times in the process. “Oh you know how you have this totally robotic female voice saying that the number doesn’t exist, well like that totally happened here and yeah I just totally hung up and oh good news,” She explained rapidly. Everything was said so fast that Nuwan couldn’t understand a word. “Doug, who has my number for some reason….messaged me….instead of you,” She glared at Ryan before getting back on track. “Oh right ummm…he is totally in the science lab, talk about convenience although he said that we shouldn’t come. Why does he have my number again?”

“Well, Abigail the classy rich girl who is really beautiful and nice and lovely…and please don’t slap again. I knew my phone was kind of well you know dead, so I gave him your number for safe keeping…please don’t slap me again.” Ryan explained really quickly before they walked into the science lab. The door was surprisingly unlocked. It was a tacky red in color with little pieces of paint chipped or stripped off. There were also some graffiti which read ‘Death to Abigail’, leading the brunette teen to mutter, “Jealous losers...” They opened the door and walked slowly, slowly before Nuwan flicked on the lights.

“Oh my… Anna?”

“Dude….Awww hell no!”

“What did I miss?” Nuwan rushed to meet up with Abigail and Ryan and responded with “Ohh….ohhh damnnnn!”

The sight was Doug privately exploring the teenage ways of love with one of Abigail’s group. The girl was Anna who had long black hair which was currently all over the place, her dress straps were loose down to the arms and she was on top of Doug both behind one of the lab work benches with a tap and two gas switches for the Bunsen burners.

“Dude, what the hell?” Doug yelled at Ryan and the group. “Dude, I totally told Abbie to tell you guys not to come! C’mon man, timing.” He got up with his shirt unbuttoned, just like his pants.

“Hiiii guys….awkies…”Anna also got up and fixed up her dress which led to Abigail to shake her head in disbelief, she was surprised by her friend’s action. Anna was seen as the ‘good girl’, the nice one that never hooked up or slept with any guys but at that moment Abigail’s world came crashing down. “Ohhh did you guys hear about the other girls? No one knows where they are, isn’t that freaky.” Anna looked at Abigail with a cheeky smile.

Abigail put her hands on Anna’s shoulder including fixing up her straps “Anna for the safety of our entire group, just stick by me and really? You could do better, like a lot better.”

“Awww, come on!”

“Hell no, I’m outta of here, I came here for safety and to hook up.” Anna explained with a smile, as she opened the door and ran off.

“Stupid cow…” Abigail muttered under her breath.

Doug looked at the three that were standing in front of him. “Dudes, ummm where is the babe known as Nicole? I went to the bathroom and she was just AWOL or something.” He obviously noticed that his strawberry blonde date was not with the rest of the group.

Nuwan looked at Abigail and Ryan who were looking at each other. “We assumed that she was with you and doesn’t give any leads anyway.” Nuwan said.

“You got that cancelled number shit? Dude maybe she got kidnapped.” Doug started to ramble. “You know like that song ‘Wouldn’t it be nice’ by that 80’s TV screen dude? But she said that she was going with you guys since she's totally keen on you, Rhyno bro. Oh and then I saw some pink glittery stuff and it led to the agricultural grounds and there were these two sheep getting it on…”

“Okay TMI….eugh I sound so 2000’s.” Abigail rose her hands up in frustration while turning away. “So not cool, I do not want to hear about sheep doing what you did…and like you know I’m actually not surprised. It’s you.”

----------------------------------------------------------------------

The group now including Doug wandered through a narrow concrete path surrounded by various plants that were taken care of by the gardener and some kids that wanted to take care of plants. There was no light at all except for the three phones to light up the dark path that stood in front of them. There were a couple of chickens, cows, sheep and a frog that were sleeping alongside the animal section of the agricultural area of the school. The whole place smelt like animal droppings much to the chagrin of Abigail who was holding her nose with one hand to try and block the stench.

“Hey dude they found us,” A voice was heard nearby a giant grey shed that could be mistaken for a garage for a plane. “Alright bro, we can let them out now.” Another voice replied. One of the voices was male and the other was female. The girls that were kidnapped by them ran past the group and all three of them decided to elbow Abigail. “Bitches…hmph,” She, along with Ryan, Doug and Nuwan followed the voices.

There were a guy sitting in jeans and a white t-shirt saying ‘It’s time to boggie’ (boggie not boogie) and a woman in similar attire smiling at them. “You found us and yeah we did it. We caused the blackout and took those three girls. He dared me,” The female laughed “And I did…it!” She was cracking up laughing with him.

“Does anyone else smell that?” Abigail sniffed the stench she couldn’t recognize.

Ryan walked up the guy and picked him up by his shirt. “Where’s Nicole and why did you blow up cars and start fires?” The anger was visible on Ryan’s face and in his tone of voice. He was ready to punch the living daylights out of the guy until Abigail stopped him by holding Ryan’s arm.

“Calm down and let him talk.” She said. Her voice acted to calm Ryan down. He started to breath heavily as he looked from Abigail to the guy.

“Dude I have no idea what you’re talking about. We just took the girls, paid them to come with us, and just tied them up to see if anyone would come here with the pink glitter trail that we laid out! And we dressed up as the prom queen ghost! I learnt that from camping.” The guy started to talk really fast, scared that Ryan would actually punch him. He was talking like he was interrogated as a criminal. “We didn’t see any Nicole, honest. Man I’m being honest and we didn’t blow up any cars or start any fires at all. Man I’m telling the truth, we never did that shit man.” Tears started to form in his eyes and he stared to cry on Ryan’s shoulder. Ryan just patted him on the back awkwardly and looked at the group, puzzled at the guy’s reaction.

“Nicole has gone missing and someone else must have tried to kill Abigail by blowing up stuff. You know this could be a bigger mystery.” Nuwan thought out loud while rubbing his chin. “We can’t contact her and you can’t contact the lady that gave you the car? Something is not right.”

“And I think Nicole is behind it,” Abigail chimed in “No way that someone could hate me and like, steal Prom Queen from me…..” She looked at the group of guys who just looked at each other and avoided looking at her. “Jerks”

“You know what this means,” Ryan asked while watching the guy and the girl run off back towards the main hall.

“KFC?”

“Doug, you know me well. To KFC we go.”

- As we join our heroes, they were attacked at prom. Some dude was listening to Pink Floyd
- Abigail sounded like she was in the year 1998
- Nicole went missing.
- A frog that was sleeping, likely listening to 'Foster The People'
- Doug was doing the dance with Abigail's third friend. DON'T DO IT AT HOME...ACTUALLY IT IS BETTER AT HOME.

CHAPTER 8 - There is basketball hobo in my boot

Kentucky Fried Chicken @ 23:42 hours

“I can’t even look at this, like I’m gonna hurl.” Abigail looked at the menu while the cashier was waiting for her order. “Ummm, I don’t know, what did you guys order?” She asked the boys beside her.

“Well Nuwan, Ryan, and I got the extra crispy chicken. Man, they are good.” Doug said, waiting at the counter for his meal.

Abigail responded by saying, “Eugh, so not appealing. Like, I’m just gonna pass.” She walked away to a booth beside a window. “After my prom and I’m at KFC… Oh Abbie, how low could you go?” She asked herself, looking despondently at her reflection through a greasy, dirty window.

“Oh c’mon Abbie, they have corn on the cob.” Ryan smiled as the guys sat down with her in the booth. “You have to enjoy the delightful cuisine as we talk shop.” He started to bite into the chicken as all the juices dripped from the white meat. This made Abigail cover her mouth, her face looking as white as a ghost.

“Like, no talking 'till you guys finish and that is not cuisine. I’m so gonna hurl,” She exclaimed, looking at their food with a disgusted look. The brunette teen pulled out her white Samsung phone, and began surf the net in order to avoid looking at the guys.

“Man… this is good shit.” Ryan eventually said while wiping his mouth with a greasy napkin. “Alright let’s get to work,” He looked at Doug and Abigail who sat opposite of him. “Okay, so apparently our friend and Abbie’s enemy, Nicole Carter has gone missing. Now we can guess that she has been missing, like, she got kidnapped by something we don’t know...” Ryan pulled out a pen and paper and started to write away. “Or as Abbie pointed out, Nicole could have gone all Gone Girl on us and stuff, so here’s what we do.”

“Ummm I totally did not say that,” She looked at the paper in front of her which was scribbled mess.

“Anyway Doug, you’ll go to Nicole’s boyfriend’s house to talk to him. Nuwan will go to her house by breaking in, of course, or just going through her backyard. I don’t know. Nicole….I mean Abbie, will go to City Hall Records to find any deets and I’ll go to Val’s house and see if I can pick up anything by breaking in. We will all meet up at the basketball court where that hobo who smells like lavender lives... I love that guy.” Ryan explained the plan in detail as he wrote it down.

“I have a query!” Nuwan interrupted. “What happens if we get attacked by someone who doesn’t want us to find the truth or Nicole?”

“We all fight back,” Ryan answered. “We have a giant basketball player, an athlete, a cheerleader and you. I think we will be fine.” He scoffed in response. To Ryan, the question sounded absolutely stupid.

“What’s Abigail being a cheerleader supposed to mean?” Nuwan asked as he watched Doug pulling out napkins from a napkin dispenser. “What the hell are you doing?” He looked at Doug in absolute confusion.

“I got bored during the plan….” Doug answered quietly, but continued to pull out more napkins.

“Nuwan, it is a great question and I will answer it.” Ryan answered looking at all the napkins on the table. “See Abbie is a hot cheerleader and what we learnt from Kim Possible is that cheerleaders are awesome and can do everything. Therefore obviously Abbie can fight against hardened criminals.” Ryan explained as he pointed at Abigail with his pen.

“No, I can’t.”

“Abbie, you may not be Prom Queen but you are our Prom Queen. Well, actually you’re not because you didn’t get Prom Queen, but the point is that you are special. You can do anything; you are like Kim Possible! Except you're.... rich, spoiled, mean, spiteful, hot, real, you have brown hair, and you are pretty. But, you can do anything because you are Abigail Gordon.” Ryan pulled out her special platinum mirror from her handbag and showed her reflection.

The response from the woman was a kick in the shin right underneath the table. A massive thud hit the table from underneath. It was Ryan’s right leg after being kicked pretty hard. “I deserved that…” His voice tinged with pain and discomfort. “Okay.... so... we need a car, you know because I still miss my free car. Life is so cruel but that was all in the past.”

“That was four hours ago,” Nuwan responded as he watched Doug making napkin origami.

“That was in the past damn it, and I will throw this napkin bird at you. Yeah, think about that, you stupid man.” Ryan stared at Nuwan intensely almost like a glare. “So everybody knows their plan?”

“Yes!”

“Totally!”

“Will I get arrested?”

“That settles it, remember to meet at the hobo courts tomorrow at 5pm or, you know, call us for a better meeting time. I’m open for anything.” Ryan gave the group their slips of paper before they called it a night.

The Next Day @ 1000 hours

Abigail called the group to her house and then into her room. Her room was giant spacious room with a king-sized bed with a laptop on it, light blue lace curtains, a few items of décor to compliment the dark blue motif theme that originated with the walls. There were various giant stuffed animals neatly placed on the base of her pillows on top of her bed, and an art deco poster of New York City back in the '30’s. She had a giant screen television plastered on the wall of her bedroom facing her bed, stacks of Blu-ray CDs stacked on top of a black cabinet containing music CDs, a stereo, a sleek black Blu-ray player and a new, dusty Xbox One behind protective glass. There was a giant mahogany bookshelf full of books from the 1920’s to 2014 and an outdated brown globe that still had the Soviet Union, East and West Germany, Czechoslovakia, and Yugoslavia.

“Wow…this is like the best ever room ever!” Doug exclaimed as he stared at the giant screen television. “I think I’m love.” His eyes were transfixed on the giant plasma screen TV. “Imagine watching the NBA and playing FIFA on this lovely, sexy beast.” He ran his hand on the edge of the TV, slowly caressing it.

“Keen but why did you call us Abbie?” Ryan asked. Nuwan was too interested in the art deco poster to notice the books.

Abbie’s room also had a walk in closet which was where she was at that moment. She brought out a few objects and clothes. “Okay, I thought about Ryan’s totally. crappy plan and I’m like Abbie you know people. So I took the liberaty…”

“You mean liberty,” Nuwan corrected.

“Bite me,” she shot back. “Okay well, I managed to get some help from an old friend of Ryan who I totally tracked down and you guys can thank me…ummm like now.” Abbie smiled as she introduced another girl. The girl was someone from Ryan’s old group, Sally. Sally was half American and half Chinese, a smart hacker. She had deep brown eyes and long black hair tied up in a short ponytail. She stood a lot shorter than Abigail at around 5’5”.

“Dude, you are amazing and thank you. How did you track Sally down?” Ryan asked while hugging Sally.

“Hello, I’m Abigail Gordon. I have like my amazing ways.” She gloated as she watched the pair hug.

“It is really great to see you, Ryan. Abigail told me everything and she is a lot better than Lauren, I can tell you that. I know Doug from all the emails and Snapchats that you send me, I'm Sally" Sally introduced herself to the group.

“Sally and I go way back, she’s like the sister I never had.” Ryan explained. “Okay, why is she here?” He turned his attention to Abigail who was holding a lot of clothes in her hands.

“Well she knew how totally crappy your plans are, so she and I made them actually like errr...good.” Abigail laid down all the clothes on her king-sized bed. “I’ll let her explain.”

“Thank you Abigail.” Sally sat down on Abigail’s bed and picked up the laptop. “Doug, you’ll be going to Andrew’s house after his basketball practice, you have nothing special to do.” Abigail just threw some clothes at Doug.

“Hey! What’s wrong with what I wear?” Doug asked looking at the clothes.

“Everything, now get changed.” Abigail ordered, pointing at the closet for him to get changed. The closet had everything from summer fashion to spring and all the seasons between. Everything was categorized by season, then occasion, and finally brand. There was a whole section just devoted to shoes, and it took up almost a quarter of closet space. It was exactly like a walk-in boutique just for one person.

“Ryan, you’ll be going as a gardener at the lady’s house. You have the muscles for it and you look scruffy all ready.” Sally explained as Abigail threw some clothes which landed on Ryan’s face. “All you need to do is enter the house which shouldn’t be too hard because you have a key in the shorts on your face.” Sally smiled turning her gaze to Nuwan. “You’ll be a cleaner at the girl’s house. You also have a key and the neighbours know that you are coming. Dig up all you can.”

Abigail threw some clothes at him which landed on his feet. “Now Abigail will be going into City Hall as an employer, she has an employer card as Melissa Harrison. She’ll plug this USB which will allow me to hack to get information from a car that she got this morning. You guys will love it but remember we need information. Got it?”

“Man this is like Mission Impossible shit.” Doug walked out of the walk-in closet and smiled. “Wait is that Footloose starring Kevin Bacon?"

City Hall @ 1217 hours

There was nothing special about City Hall. It was a plain old white building, not quite a skyscraper but not tiny at all. There was a doorman in red who greeted people at the revolving door.

A young woman wearing a white collared buttoned shirt under a black suit, a black pencil skirt with black heels, and small framed glasses with chocolate brown hair styled in a French bun walked into City Hall. The interior was all white walls with dark grey carpet, it was really bland in her eyes. She walked up to the security checkpoint with a security guard chatting to a fit bald man in a suit, occupying the section. The woman continued to walk until....

“May I see your employee pass?” The security guard stopped her. She could see that he had a gun and a walkie talkie on his holster belt. She looked up to see his bulletproof vest. The woman was surprised at the amount of security as she handed him her pass. She looked nervous as he was cross-checking it with the database. "All clear Miss Harrison," The security guard handed Abigail her pass back. "You have a good day now." He had some odd Texan accent which peaked an interest.

The woman touched her glasses. “Daphne here, I’m in the beehive.” She whispered quietly to herself. “Proceed with next stage, Velma.” She looked around to find her office without a help of a map. She could see a middle age woman holding a bunch of papers rushing to the elevator. Abigail walked over the elevator to help her. She smiled at the middle aged woman with greying blonde short, darcy hair in a red collared shirt, a long black skirt and black stockings with her black heels while helping her carry her files.

“Thank you,” She smiled at Abigail as they both walked into the elevator. “I’ve never seen you before. Are you new?” Abigail nodded. “Ahhh I’m Patricia Davidson, I work for the agricultural office.” She introduced herself with a beaming smile.

“I’m Melissa Harrison.” Abigail introduced herself. "I’m in stats, just finished college at Texas A&M, so I just told my folks. They said Melissa honey, you best be going for that job and here I am.” Abigail tried to stray from her Californian accent to the Texan accent similar to the security guard, it was tough, really tough.

“You are from around here?” The woman asked while studying Abigail carefully.

“Heck no, I’m from Dallas actually, Go Cowboys!” She looked at the buttons. “Except I don’t know which floor I’m supposed to go. I was never briefed by HR. They don't tell me where I was."

"Didn't tell me." Patricia corrected before staring at the elevator floor. “Hmmm...I think, I recall that your floor is the 5th… yeah that’s correct. It is a pleasure to meet you, Melissa, and I hope you have a great time working in civil services.” The elevator stopped at the 8th level which was Patricia's level. Once she got out, Abigail pushed the level 5 button while letting out a massive sigh of relief.

"I totally hate this accent..."

The elevator stopped at the 5th floor and Abigail rushed as soon as possible to her desk. It absolutely empty except for a few pen marks, pens, and plug points. Abigail smiled at her so called co-workers as she pulled out her laptop from her handbag. She plugged the charger into the socket. then turned on her laptop to connect to the Wi-Fi before she inserted the USB. Abigail decided to see what she could do with the work that she was given while waiting for the USB drive to install.

In a car outside a small café @ 1232 hours

Sally was typing away. “Okay Daphne, I read you clear. I’m in. Now just pretend that you know what you are doing. Remember we want the files on Nicole and Valerie.” Sally sat in a black hoodie and red trackies typed while communicating. “Now Shaggy, you are up!”

“Why do I have to be a cleaner and Shaggy?” Nuwan was out of breath from carrying a vacuum cleaner and a steam mop on his back. “I really need to get fitter and I’m in.” He opened the door to Nicole’s house which was just a plain old one story house in the suburbs. “Okay I think someone has been here, Velma. It’s been ransacked!” Nuwan could see broken items and desk drawers open. The TV was still running even though it was all dirty. There was just a mess everywhere to be seen and a bowl of melted chocolate. Nuwan had difficulty trying to walk around it. “I’ll take photos of it.” before tripping on a light blue yoga mat.

“You better clean up as well and try to find some information without destroying anything, Shaggy.” Sally could hear Nuwan cursing as he dusted himself off.

“Will do!” Nuwan found a broom in the kitchen. There wasn't any smell of spoiled food which proved to him that the mess must have been recent. He started to push broken pieces, shards, and dirt into a corner, which was the best he could with a broom. He found a travel guide on the floor next to a giant white fluffy pillow. “Lonely Planet’s guide to the United States of America on a budget? Interesting,” He read out loud, placing it into his cleaning suit. He continued sweeping for some clues.

Valerie's White Mansion @ 1240 hours

“How are you going? Daphne got you in?” Ryan touched his ear to communicate with Sally. He just walked out of the giant mansion where Valerie was supposed to live.

“Yes, she did. What did you find?”

“Nothing at all, nothing except for some shitty travel guide to the United States. The house is empty. It is like she knew that we were coming.” Ryan was seething. He didn’t like to be one-upped in a mystery. “Let's rendezvous at the hobo courts, Fred out.” Ryan kicked a stone onto the white marble mansion which bounced back hitting him in the stomach. He threw the stone on to a black mailbox which left a dent at the point of impact.

----------------

Hobo Courts @ 1500 Hours - Now with more hoboness

The meeting point, the hobo courts, is a grey basketball court with a graffiti covered brick wall, and of course, a smart looking hobo lived there. His passion for the game created this neighbourhood comradery that allowed him to stay. The hobo would watch everyone play basketball and would join in some games. He didn’t have a beard but smelt like lavender. He could have moved to a little apartment, but he loved the place so much that he chose not to move. Some say he just didn't want to pay rent and others say one day he dreams to become the next Rich Paul and find a LeBron James.

He smiled when he saw Ryan and Doug enter the courts. He watched those boys play basketball since they were 5 years old. He smiled when he saw Sally and Nuwan enter as well. He waved to Ryan and Doug. They waved back in response. They were really happy to see that the basketball hobo was still there. He threw a Nike four panel basketball at them, waving his hands around asking them to play.

“Thanks basketball hobo. I love that guy!” Ryan smiled while dribbling the ball that they used officially at the Euroleague with its size and material to ease a shooter's touch. “Where’s Abbie?” He asked while dribbling the ball more and more before passing it to Doug who dunked it in response.

“She went to get our new car.” Sally answered watching the two guys with the basketball.

“Alright, well that mansion was cleared. I found a travel book on the US. NYC, Vegas, and Los Angeles were highlighted and bookmarked.” Ryan explained throwing down the guide book on the asphalt. Doug collected the rebound after bricking a fade-away shot and passed it back to Ryan.

“I have the same thing except it was a budget’s guide. There has to be a connection? Maybe they kidnapped both and are trying to lead us into a trap?” Nuwan threw down the guide that he found inside Nicole’s house.

“I found nothing bros and Sal. Andrew said that the girl was a fling, he was surprised she was Prom Queen and said that I should have won it.” Doug got the ball back from Ryan and shot a fadeaway from mid-range. “Something about her troubled life or some shit. I’m thinking Abbie is right, Nicole could be trying to kill her. What about you Sal?”

“Apparently thanks to Abigail, I found out that Valerie Harrison does exist. She used to be an exotic dancer in Vegas who had an affair with a man named Pablo Navarro but then she found out that he was married, so she killed him and then they found her body in Valencia a few months later.” Sally explained. This caught the guys off guard as they stopped shooting hoops. “Nicole Carter does actually exist but her records at your school have been erased. She’s a ghost now. So I think whoever this Valerie tried to get to Ryan because I do know that she sent me an invite to her house like Ryan.”

“Shit! Are you telling that the lady is trying to get to me?” Ryan replied. He was in shock trying to take it in but it was not the first time someone tried to get to him.

“Because you met her,” Sally explained. “She tried to kill Abbie because you were with her at prom. She also met Nicole, so she kidnapped her to lure you and by extension, us to a trap. We have to find Nicole ourselves.”

“Okay…” Ryan took a deep breath and exhaled in frustration. “We leave tomorrow. It shouldn’t be too hard to get permission since it is holidays. Nuwan, my parents will tell your parents. We will make up some alibi like the National Grammar Rodeo in Canada or something.”

“Boys, Sally, and like basketball hobo that smells so like lavender...niceee!” Abigail, still in her disguise, walked up to the guys. She pulled out a pair of keys from inside her white collared shirt and pointed the, at the car. “I’m totally amazing.” Her Californian valley girl accent was more profound when she was smug.

“Wow, Abbie that’s…wow!!!”

“it’s so beautiful!!!”

"How did you get that?"

“It’s a….”

What Car will it be?

Will Abigail Gordon become a secret agent? Is she really part of IMF...not the International Monetary Fund or maybe she is?

What is the true story behind the Basketball Hobo that smells like Lavender? Is he really @Peter Quill? Nah the hobo is cooler.

Can this story actually get better? I doubt that but at least it beats studying...well actually studying can be fun especially when you have a total hottie with you.

But tune in next time where a corporate mascot will take someone that you don't love or love, I don't know. I wonder if I have any wine. Ooh I have wine from Bordeaux.

Yeah I promised myself I would finish. No matter the terrible quality, the stuff that makes no sense and all the drink that made this fic what it is which is pure crap muffins, I still promised myself I would finish it, so I can say that I at least wrote a fic even though it is crappy. At least I do crappy better than you guys, so check and mate. So there.

CHAPTER 9 - We still love Bette Davis

Hobo Courts @ 1500 hours

Right in front of the group was a beautiful white car. It wasn’t just a normal white car, it was a Jaguar XF. It was beautifully luxurious crafted. The interior was a dream; it had a touch of class, form hugging supple leather, and a crisp aluminium surface with classic real Rosewood veneers.

Abigail stood in front of the beautiful Jaguar XF, grinning in delight at their faces. They were just stunned, all 5 of them including the Basketball Hobo. “So, like what do you think?” She held up the keys with a little cheeky twinkle in her eye.

“Did you steal it from your dad?” Nuwan asked deadpan as ever with his dark arms crossed.

Abigail scoffed in response. “So not,” She then pressed a button on the keys to unlock the car. “Who wants a ride?” Everyone jumped in the car as the pretentious rich brunette teen got into the driver’s seat. “Okay, like everyone.”

The engine roared as the brunette started the Jag. She looked behind to make sure that she could reverse without slamming into a car, a hobo, a person or a building. “So what do you guys think? Totally bitchin’.”

“Yes it is so totally bitchin’, let’s all go to the malt shop and talk about Buddy Holly.” Ryan sarcastically replied. “Bitchin’? This isn’t the 50’s...hold the phone.” He could hear the chuckle of the group including Abigail. He pulled out his phone and started to text.

The drive was quiet and smooth. Abigail was absolutely in bliss being behind in the wheel. The rest of the guys were too busy until Ryan asked quietly a question to the brunette driver. “Heyyy, so….” He took a deep breath which sounded like him wincing. “Can we turn left in about a few miles?”

“No!”

“Oh c’mon Abbie, I need to see something. Pleaseeee!” Ryan started to plead with his blue eyes staring at her.

“Fine….You totally owe me.” Abigail turned to the left after a couple of miles. There was a beautiful blonde girl walking with shopping bags in tow. She had the most beautiful green eyes, a little bit of a tan and had a figure of a model.

“Slow down,” Ryan whispered quietly to Abigail who looked bemused that he would tell her to slow down for a girl. He rolled down the windows and yelled out “UP YOURS’ LAUREN. I’M IN A JAG!!!” scaring the living daylights out of the blonde woman.

“Lauren is a hottie,” Doug nodded with a sly grin on his face. “Too bad she dumped you, wait not too bad. I could hook up with her.”

“You have a better chance with the nice whispering girl or a 32 year old hooker than Lauren Caulfield,” Sally responded as she elbowed Doug in the rib. “Speaking of which, Miss Lauren Caulfield is going to be in a play tonight.”

“Ooh what is about?” Abigail asked while taking a right turn at an intersection. There were a few stares from the surrounding cars because it was a Jag on the road.

“I don’t know but it is at a local theatre, we should go,” Sally replied. “Only $5 tickets.”

“How do you know?” Ryan asked, flicking rubber bands at his friends except for the one driving.

“I still keep in touch with her,” Sally said as she watched the action around her “Unlike you.”

“We are not going….”

“I can’t believe you guys dragged me here to see a play, I could have been watching ESPN or Daria,” Ryan whined as the five of them were getting to their seats. The theater was a modest one with only a few rows of seats to fit a very small crowd. The group was dressed pretty semi-formal. Ryan and Doug were dressed in collared shirts and jeans while Nuwan was in a black polo shirt with chinos. Sally was dressed in a white top with a grey cardigan and a pair of jeans. Naturally Abigail would go the more formal white skater mini dress.

“Oh please, like this would be totally worse,” Abigail sat in at the end of the aisle with Ryan next to her. “It gives me a total reason to wear this dress.” She then moved forward and looked at Sally with Ryan sitting right in between them. “What are we seeing?”

“A Musical Adaptation of…Jezebel…oh dear.”

“Dude, that had Bette Davis in it. I knew because my mom told…me, I mean c’mon dudes it is not like I’ve seen it,” Doug scoffed as the group looked at him quizzically. “Dudes, Wikipedia….” He laughed nervously, looking at the stage in front of him while scratching his right ear lobe.

“I’ll be back in a second. I just need to make a few phone calls,” Nuwan quickly explained as he wriggled his way through the group. He took out his phone while walking off to the lobby.

“Oh man, this is going to be…bogus.” Ryan stopped whining once his eyes moved towards Abigail’s peanuts as she sat right next to him.

“Should I or shouldn’t I? She did drive us here, but peanuts... Where is the god damn buttered popcorn? Its sexy like Danilo Gallinari. Gallo, oh Gallo, when will you play uninjured? Gallo, Oh Gallo, you were a future All Star. Gallo, oh Gallo….Abigail has a beautiful…body, god damn. I mean she doesn’t have the rack of Nicole or Loz but those legs are hot….nah man this is Abbie, no go there. Gallo, oh Gallo, I wonder if they have chili popcorn?” Ryan thought to himself as he stared at the peanuts, the god damn peanuts.

“I wonder if Lauren is still perceptive as she used to be. I wonder who is this Nicole person is like, I haven’t seen a picture of her but he must seriously like her to go to the trouble to finding her…hey this is like a movie. We need a talking mascot for example a talking echidna,” Sally stared at the stage with her train of thought speeding through her mind.

“The question is whether this person can capture the essence of Bette Davis. She is an amazing, talented actress that won an Oscar for this movie. This so called 'play' better not mess up the movie for me. I think I have some homework? Ahhh hell naw, mom gonna kill me.” Doug started to think as he pulled out a wad of spearmint chewing gum from his mouth and stuck it under his seat.

“I’m so fancy, la la la la laaa, something, something, whatever. God that song is stuck in my mind. Oh I have that essay to finish and then the game is on. Thank you cable because I’m so fancy. Can’t you taste this gold…what does that like mean? I wonder if I could be a jorno, I would be like this is Abigail Carter with the world news from Hong Kong and we’ll cross over to some dude in Sofia, Bulgaria on this ongoing crisis. Oh my god that is so cool.” Abigail thought while looking at her bag of peanuts.

The play started….and ended. It was a very awkward play with Sally looking bored as she was drifting on and off. Doug was looking like punching something or someone. He picked up several things that he found were insulting to movie and Bette Davis, Nuwan was assumed to have ran off and Abigail looked bored with her legs crossed, unaware that Ryan snoring right next to her.

“Oh my god,” Lauren walked up to the group, well 5 of them. “Sally, it is so good to see you.” She gave a hug to greet her old friend. “It is been so long. How is my favourite half Asian, half American girl?”

“Fun times they were Lauren,” Sally smiled back. “You know just two days ago.” She then pointed the rest of the group. “This is Doug, plays basketball and is big and strong.”

“Heyyyy, nice to meet you again,” Doug smiled with a flirty grin that made him look stoned. “You’re hot.”

“And you’re strong,” Lauren flirted back with a cheeky grin.

Sally rolled her eyes at their interaction. “And this is….” She pointed at Abigail who stood up ignoring the snoring next to her.

“Let me guess, Miss Nicole Carter vying for the affection of my ex-boyfriend. The one is in deep slumber, snoring his way into dream world.” Lauren replied, she was very theatrical in how she talked. The blonde actress then surveyed Abigail. “You are nothing like Sally told me, you are beautiful. Did you get work done? Because Sally showed me a picture and you did not look like this.”

“This is Abigail Gordon not Nicole Carter.” Sally corrected as she rolled her eyes at her friend’s theatrics.

“Oh sorry, nice to meet you Abigail.” Lauren smiled at Abigail before looking at Ryan who was behind the back of Abigail. “Nice to see you too Ryan, it is been like a week or more.”

“Yeah, good times,” Ryan yawned as Lauren hugged him. “Ah huh, you know even if you manipulated me then.”

“I am so sorry, I was in a bad place but I think I finally got my break as an actress. I got a card from an agent!” Lauren shoved a black glossy business card in front of Ryan. “Up Yours Bianchi, I got an agent. So did you guys like the play?”

The group looked at each other slowly nodding before an “Oh my god, you were totally like awesome.” From Abigail saved the moment.

Suddenly the doors slammed against the brown walls of the theatre. Nuwan down the stairs but lost his footing. He fell and landed on Ryan, knocking him down on the ground. “Guys, guys….” He was puffing, out of breath after what seemed to be running a lot. “I was flirting with an Indian girl next door in their rehearsal and….There was monster, not just any….” He was puffing and huffing like a big bad wolf that wasn’t fit. “Monster, it was a monster made out of popcorn.”

“WOOO EDIBLE MONSTER!!!” Doug yelled with his arms raised up in the air.

“Totally edible,” Abigail high-fived Doug, both really excited at the fact that there is a monster made out of popcorn.

“Just like old times.” Lauren smiled at Sally who shrugged in response.

“Dude, get off me!” Ryan yelled with Nuwan right on top of him.

Firstly I like to thank my sponsors if I had any. I like to thank my talentless skills because it shaped me like a hexagon and I like to thank @Prez for believing that alcohol is not the solution but the method. No wait that wasn't you but you sure helped a lot, like so much.

Seriously I have no idea what I'm doing, I'm just doing it.

In short I hoped I helped you guys because there is no way you could write worse than me. Unless it is an essay or a concise report on the stuff I study or sport, I'm totally good at those.

I need more alcohol. I like to forget I wrote this, it helps.
