INTRODUCTION

A sparkling flame glinted in the darkness, lighting up the room.
Bang! A sound reverberated through the air.
Glancing up, one could only see pure darkness, even with the gentle flame. The flame died out slowly, but then! A crackling sound could be heard. A blue bolt of light flashed through the room. Even for just a split second, one could see a man draped in a dark cape walking towards them.
Thump!
Two tails slashed through the air in attempt to destroy the man. The man, however, was unhurt. He held up what seemed like a rifle, and with one instant click -
BANG!
- the duo fell to the ground, the man gloating over his victory.

CHAPTER ONE: THE NEWS FLASH

Ayuko yawned as she clicked through the channels. She sighed, disappointed that there was nothing good to watch.
Click, click, click.
The sound of the television changing channels rapidly reverberated through the air continuously.
"Will you stop that annoying sound?"
Ayuko kept silent, ignoring the comment.

"News flash! Twin Palace, the supposed resting place for the two dragons, has been destroyed at around one in the morning. When investigators went up to the palace, the two dragons were gone. Even after clearing the fallen ruble that blocked the numerous entrances and exits, the dragons were nowhere to be seen. Footsteps or fingerprints are yet to be detected. Drayden and Iris, the two gym leaders of Opelucid City, comment on this incident. "Normally, the dragons won't go anywhere unless something provokes them," Drayden says. "It is abnormal for the dragons to leave suddenly, especially at night, unless it senses something unusual. Other than that, only some night dragons - such as Deino - will go out during the night," Iris adds. Even with professional help, nothing can be traced from the scene. Residents and tourists nearby are advised to move off, in case disaster strikes again. Please send any clues or assumptions to our hotline. We will transmit them to the police, who will utilize the clue or assumption to draw up different possible reasons for the mysterious disappearance of the two dragons. Thank you for listening."

Ayuko gasped. Although she wasn't exactly a dragon fan, she was shocked by mostly everything. She knew people would be calling her immediately, seeing her detective skills could be of some use in the case. She grabbed her coat and rushed out of the house without bothering to leave a note behind.
