Yet another clichéd journey RP, with an equally clichéd twist. But I’ve been finding my more convoluted RPs tend not to attract many players, so here we go:

Twisted Reflections: KANTO

Introduction:
The world of Pokemon is a pretty peaceful place; after all, what other kind of world would condone sending children out into the wild to fare for themselves? Perhaps you could even call it a utopia, paradise. That world enshrines good-natured competition; the humble life of a Pokemon Trainer is the greatest calling. There’s no need for violence, war, and domination.

This RP is not set in that world. This RP is but its twisted reflection: a Pokemon dystopia. The Pokemon League rules supreme over the world. Trainers battle not for love of the sport, but for power. For decades, an institutionalized system of bloodshed and conflict has controlled the lives of every Trainer. They slaughter their competitors, clawing their bitter way to the top and eternal glory.

But the revolution begins now. The people grow tired of sending their children to die, of submitting to autocracy. Will you free this world--or will you seize it for yourself?

Plot:
In the Kanto region, Lance and the rest of his Elite Four have recently forged an uneasy peace. Over a decade of bloody civil war has come to an end; the Dragon Master has won. Claiming to bring peace and stability, his Gym Leaders assert their dominion over the cities of Kanto.

For the people, it is merely business as usual. Every Elite Four is the same; only the names and faces change. Gym Leaders offer a bit more variety--some even abstain from violence once their rule is secure--but even then, they are much the same. It is a never-ending cycle: a new generation of Trainers will rise, earn prestige before the League by defeating Gym Leaders, and accept a place of honor serving the Elite Four. Eventually, some young, ambitious upstart will rally supporters and overthrowing the reigning Four. The people change, but the system is eternal.

But Lance has made a critical flaw: his uprising won only after a long, grueling war of attrition. In the meanwhile, an entire generation of new Trainers has been born and raised in the absence of a powerful and decisive League. And he has overlooked an old, forgotten Champion-in-exile…

Isolated and tiny, Pallet Town has never been important in the eyes of the League. There, one Samuel Oak, the so-called ‘Pokemon Professor,’ has carefully nurtured the seeds of rebellion. Professor Oak casts his net wide, calling allies from all over the world--allies who have, just like him, grown disillusioned and tired of the endless, destructive cycle. Joined under the banner of the Dawn, resistances have been cautiously forming in every region in the world.

Professor Oak, as is the custom, prepares the current crop of Trainers for the League. But where he would have simply handed them their Pokemon and sent them to their eventual deaths, he now prepares them for the coming storm: revolution. The rebellion will make its first stand in Kanto. And you will decide its fate.

Rules:
  • Follow all BMGf rules. This includes the obvious ones: be respectful, no spamming, etc.
  • Keep it PG-13. The setting is inherently violent, and you’re free to cause as much mayhem and damage as possible. But don’t be overly bloody and gory about it.
  • Be active. We want to keep the RP moving.
  • Be descriptive. Short posts make for a boring RP. Aim for at least three sentences, maybe even a paragraph.
  • Keep OOC to a minimum. Any major discussion should be here, in the sign-up thread. Any OOC in the start-up should be game-oriented.
  • No god-modding. Defeating everything effortlessly and solving every problem instantly makes for a very boring RP.
  • Don’t control other players’ characters. This is simply proper procedure in any RP.
  • Listen to the GM. I’m here to keep gameplay going and ensure things don’t go out of control.

Sign-Up Form:
Name:
Age: Between 10 and 14.
Gender:

Appearance: Keep it short but descriptive.
Background: The bulk of your sign-up. You’ll have to explain who your character is, and why he or she is that way. Detail is a must. NOTE: All players must be residents of Pallet Town at the RP’s beginning, though your character may originally be from another city in Kanto.
Personality: How does your character act, and why? As with Background, more detail is better.

Pokemon: Any basic Kanto Pokemon.

RP Sample: A few sentences showing your RPing ability.
