So Twitch (A video host dedicated to gaming videos) has started an unprecedented phenomenon, a video game where the viewers have complete control!

Twitch

Basically, viewers control the outcome of the game by writing button inputs (Ex. A, B, Up, Down, Start, etc.) on a chat window, and the comments are converted into commands which will be inputted into the game play.

So far, it's been highly successful with 731,666 views and 15,111 active participants (As of February 14, 2014 9:57 PM MST) and gaining massive attention. As I am posting this, having been played for 2 days, 5 hours, 31 minutes and 52 seconds the game has already completed the events of the St. Anne and is now setting it's sight on the Vermilion Gym (And juggling the ever-confusing trash can puzzle with completely random controls will prove to be quite the challenge).

Be sure to check it out, and contribute to this amazing event (You need a Twitch account to be able to comment successfully).

This is horrible... Why would anyone want to watch that?

I agree. It's just mindlessly walking into walls and opening the menu.

Re: Twitch Plays Pokémon Red/Blue! (Viewers Control The Game)

I actually kind of enjoy watching this. Its like a never ending train wreck.

Re: Twitch Plays Pokémon Red/Blue! (Viewers Control The Game)

I've been randomly looking at this.
I so much rofl at all those new moves learning fails or items that got tosses away on purpose by trolls.

Just hilarious XD
3 days passed... and still only have 3 Badges, Professor Oak must be proud of Red for sure!

Red is currently lost in a Flash-less Rock Tunnel.

I find this hilarious.

I find this hilarious.

They were in there last night, but then they dug out. Let's hope they do it again.

Re: Twitch Plays Pokémon Red/Blue! (Viewers Control The Game)

Rock Tunnel was cake compared to the ledge.

There's no way they're going to be able to get HM03 from the Safari Zone unless they disable the step counter or something (it's been suggested but I dont know if they've actually make that decision).

And yes, it's hilarious to watch. I've been popping in from time to time.

Pretty much this. It's slightly amusing, but it gets really annoying very quickly because the sheer amount of commands being input prevents anything from getting done. I'm honestly surprised it's managed to get as far as it has.

TwitchPlaysPokemon confirmed in a private message on Twitch that he's modifying the Safari Zone to make it easier.

Watched 10 minutes of this crap and then i realized i wasted 10 minutes of my life when i could have just looked at a wall and it would have been more fun.

Re: Twitch Plays Pokémon Red/Blue! (Viewers Control The Game)

Praise be to the Helix Fossil, our god and savior.

He has sacrificed himself to raise his son Bird Jesus from the depths of the PC box.

Beware the false prophet Flareon, for he has cost us Jay Leno and Abby.

Re: Twitch Plays Pokémon Red/Blue! (Viewers Control The Game)

Apparently there are now Jay Leno Rattata and Abby Charmeleon for trade on the X/Y GTS, with the players asking for Omanyte (can't confirm for myself right now).

Every time I check on the stream I'm always amazed at how much progress is made. This morning they were struggling to move through the Celadon Gym (how many people does it take to cut a tree?), and now they're somehow getting through the Rocket Hideout. Good luck getting that Lift Key, though...

So good to watch.

Re: Twitch Plays Pokémon Red/Blue! (Viewers Control The Game)

I'm pretty disappointed that ABBBBKC and Jay Leno were released on day 5 of the madness. I love how the whole fandom just put the blame on Flareon and now they all hate Flareon and they reesort to calling him a false prophet. My headcanon though is he had no intentions to cause the release of ABBBBKC and Jay Leno, plus he sits there crying to himself because the fandom hates him.

Currently they're stuck in Sliph Co I think dealing with the puzzle. I have no idea how they'll get past it XD

They aren't in Silph Co. They are in Rocket Hideout. Since like almost a day ago. Also, it was a parentheses, not a C (thus, the correct name was "ABBBBBBK(").

Barring getting stuck for this long for some stuff such as this, the stream is amazing though.

Re: Twitch Plays Pokémon Red/Blue! (Viewers Control The Game)

I've been watching TPP for about three days now and let's just say that it has opened my eyes to a new religious experience. The Helix giveth, the Helix taketh away. Shun the False Prophet Flareon and may your path be enlightened by the fossil and His son, Pidgeot, our Bird Jesus.
I was there when death befell our heroes "Jay Leno" JLVWNOOOOOOO and "Abby" ABBBBBBK(. And I was there when we acquired Eevee, a new savior we did not know was a servant of the unholy Dome Fossil. We tried to buy a Water Stone. We bought five Pokédolls and a Fire Stone instead. And were stuck in the store for an extended period of time not previously thought possible. Then Hero Red mistakenly deposited the Helix in the depths of the PC as the False Prophet truly rose to power. He has returned now. It is a miracle.

We've been stuck in the Team Rocket HQ for about a day now. It will be a long journey, but I have trust in Hero Red and our almighty Helix Fossil.

EDIT: THE FALSE PROPHET HAS BEEN SEALED! PRAISE HELIX!

They are still trapped in Rocket Hideout.... thats a solid 24 hours.

Re: Twitch Plays Pokémon Red/Blue! (Viewers Control The Game)

That's the longest they've been stuck in one place, right?

Also, I'm trying to find en explanation of the new "anarchy/democracy" bar at the top, but I can't find anything. How exactly does it affect game play?
