Hello-

1) I know this question has probably been addressed before-so I am sorry if this is a repeat.

I have been rewatching Kanto season 1 which has been airing on CTN. I noticed that Veronica changes Ash's voice in the second half of season 1. It becomes much higher. Do we know why this change occurred?

James's and Meowth's voices changed too...?

2) Is it ever possible to attend a recording session of a pokemon episode (that is to say- watch the VAs record an episode?)

Because Veronica got more comfortable with the role? Ash's voice was really rough back in the early Season 1 episodes.

I think James was voiced by Ted Lewis (of Giovanni and Tracey fame) during the first 13 episodes before Eric Stuart took over.

Meowth was voiced by someone totally different before Maddie got the role somewhere around 40 eps into Kanto.

I seriously doubt it.

Yeah, Ash's voice was bizarre in the first episodes. I may be in the minority, but his "male" voice SUCKED.

James had Ted Lewis till like 12, and Staurt's James quickly declined over the years. It was probably by late Johto he became unbearable.

Maddie didn't take Meowth till 30-some, and I think when she got her sex-change her voice got a little higher as well and sounded quite different from how it did when she first took over.

But hey, VA's always change over time.

Personally, while I used to not like Ash's voice in the first episodes, I actually quite like it now. Don't know why... I guess it just has this certain quality to it that I like.

I've been wanting to say this for a while now...especially after rewatching the first season through CN....

Is it me or was Veronica trying to pull off a british accent with Ash? I'm serious it sounded like she was forcing out a british accent within the first few episodes.

A british accent? I really don't see where you got that from...

What it seems to me is that during the earliest episodes Veronica was really feeling out where she wanted to go with the voice. She started to hit a stride around the St. Anne arc, I'd say.
