I was wondering, is there any particular reason why Nintendo/GameFreak tends to be inconsistent with type colors in different Pokémon media?
As we should all know, the first Pokémon related item to categorize types by color was the TCG. However, the TCG has fewer types than the games. The first overall game to colorize types was Pokémon Stadium. However, Ruby/Sapphire were the first to introduce colors to the main handheld games, with a completely different color scheme than Stadium. Then again, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon introduced yet another different scheme.
For those who don't know what I am talking about, notice how the Fire type is red in the TCG, Stadium, and Mystery Dungeon, but is orange in the main handheld games since Gen III. I prefer Fire as red. Even more inconsistent is the Fighting type, which is brown in the TCG, orange in Stadium and Mystery Dungeon, and red in the main handheld games since Gen III.
How come they couldn't adopt the TCG colors in the first place and introduce additional colors for the remaining types not covered by the TCG?
