Hi I'm fairly new here and have been working on a team myself but am not familiar with all the different types of purpose oriented teams out there. (walls, sandstorm teams, annoyers, etc.)
Can someone give me a list of the different team styles and how they try to work together to win battles? It can be really brief. Thanks!

Stall team:
They usually rely on high defenses and status moves to wear-down opponents. Def/ Sp.Def boosting/ Healing moves are ALWAYS welcome in these teams (or at least wish passers). Most have leftovers or black sludge if they're poison type. Useful abilities include:
Natural cure, Levitate, Heatproof, Flash fire, Water absorb, Etc.

Good pokemon:
Bronzong, Skarmory, Blissey, Vaporeon, Suicune, etc.

Hyper Offense:
Quite the opposite. They use high Atk and/or Sp.Atk to tear through teams. Offense boosting moves are usually saved for the bulkier ones and the frailer ones use choice items/ Life orbs most of the time. Useful abilities are:
Clear body, Hyper cutter(To prevent intimidate), Tinted lens, Etc.

Good pokemon:
Yanmega, Infernape, Salamence, Alakazam, Staraptor, Etc

Sandstorm:
Usually uses the Sp.Def boost (Rock types only) and damaging effect given by sand storm for a mix of offense and defense. Sand veil / Sand steam help alot on these teams.

Good pokemon:
Tyranitar, Hippowdon, Cradily, Rhyperior, Aggron, Sand storm immune pokemon, Etc

Rain team:
Use the effects of rain (Water moves +50% pwr/ Fire moves-50% pwr and Thunder = 100% Accuracy) to help in offense. Pokemon with a double weakness to fire benefit from these teams. Unfortunately only Kyogre can make permanent rain so you'll have to settle for rain dance + damp rock. Useful abilities for this kind of team are:
Swift swim, rain dish, Dry skin and hydration

Good pokemon:
Toxicroac, Kingdra, Rotom(washing machine), Ludicolo, Parasect, water-types, Etc

Sunny day:
Use the effects of sun (Water -50% pwr/ Fire+ 50% pwr& Solar beam needs no charge-up) to help in offense/ defense. Pokes with a x4 weakness to water thrive in these teams. You'll have to use sunny day+ heat rock for sun.Solar beam helps take out water types. Useful abilities:
Chlorophyl and Leaf guard

Good pokemon:
Tangrowth, Jumpluff, Typhlosion, Fire and/or grass-types

Hail:
Uses the effects of hail (Damage non-Ice types/ Blizzard = 100% acc). Abamasnow is a good lead for this team. Snow cloak helps here.

Good pokemon:
Abamasnow, Glaceon, Rotom(Fridge)

Trick room:
Uses slow pokemon with good stats for offense/ defense.
Useful Abilities:
Anything that works

Good pokemon:
Porygon-Z, Porygon2, Banette, Dusknoir, Rhyperior, Empoleon, Slow pokemon with some good stat(s)
Hope this helps

you forgot a few:

bulky offense is similar to heavy offense but makes sure the pokemon can take a hit, so no infernape. Pokemon like bulky gyarados, metagross, fatmence, etc are used over their less defensive counter parts.

semistall: usually consists of 4 walls which whittle down the opponents health through sandstorm, hail, toxic, etc. then have sweepers like scizor and lucario finish it off.

subseed stall. A team based around using leach seed and substitute using pokemon like breloom and sceptile. Usually paired with another type of stall.

toxic stall: stalling around toxic spikes, another form of residual damage.

baton pass: a gimmicky team which is based around passing attack, speed, defense, spdef, and ingrain boosts to a final sweeper. Can be physical, special, or mixed. Bibarel is paticuarly good due to simple doubling boosts. Smeargle is needed to baton pass ingrain and prevent being phazed away.Other pokemon which are good at passing are vaporeon, gliscor, ninjask, zapdos, among others.

also, wallrein is the best hail staller, it is almost unbeatable with hail.
