I've been playing Pokémon Blue a lot lately and I randomly started thinking that, maybe, some Pokémon had the wrong type.
If you could re-type Pokémon what would it be to and why?

Here's my list (I only listed Gen 1 Pokémon because that's what I'm playing right now)
Bulbasaur, Ivysaur: Grass
Blastoise: Water/Rock
Butterfree: Bug/Psychic
Arbok: Poison/Dark
Ninetales: Fire/Psychic
Golduck: Water/Psychic
Doduo/Dodrio: Flying/Ground
Pinsir: Bug/Steel
Tauros: Normal/Ground
Chansey: Fairy
Kangaskhan: Ground/Fighting

I can think of a few.

Psyduck/Golduck- Water/Psychic
Meowth/Persian- Normal/Dark (as of 2nd gen. i.e., once Dark type was introduced in 2nd gen Meowth and Persian should've been retconned)
Huntail- Water/Dark
Gorebyss- Water/Psychic
Flabebe/Floette/Florges- Grass/Fairy

I've got two.

Fire/Fairy Rapidash and Bug/Dragon Yanmega. Forget Bug/Dragon Flygon, Yanmega looks far more the part.

Azurill should've just been a Water-type, instead of Normal. The added Fairy-type is still fine, though.

Water/Steel Blastoise, though that's gen 2 type, but that bothered to change Magnemite line, so wynaught?
Mega Venusaur: Grass/Fairy
Tyrantrum: Dragon
Goodra: Dragon/Water
Samurott: Water/Fight
Mega Swampert: Water/Fight
Feraligatr: Water/Dragonite

Charizard - Fire/Dragon (non mega)
Gyarados - Water/Dragon
Aerodactyl - Rock/Dragon with levitate
Feraligatr - Water/Dragon
Ampharos - Electric/Dragon (non mega)
Yanma line - Bug/Dragon
Lugia - Psychic/Dragon with levitate
Druddigon - Dragon/Fighting
Haxorus -Dragon/Steel
Sceptile - Grass/Dragon (non mega)

What makes Lugia a dragon? I think tacking a dragon type onto Pokemon for no reason, it's not too cool.
Well it can learn Dragon Rush, Dragon Pulse and Dragon Tail. It kind of looks like a Dragon. But maybe it be Psychic/Water or Water/Flying.

Going by concept, Water/Flying would make the most sense for Lugia, they never really justified Psychic. It does have some vague connections to Dragon too I guess, but not as much as it does Water. But Water/Flying is too weak a type for them to give it anyway, so whatever.

Lugia does seem ripe for a regional variant though. Give it Water/Dragon and then everyone's happy.

Muk - Poison and awesome.

But seriously

Gyarados - Water
Geodude, Graveler & Golem - Rock only
Marowak - Ground/Fighting
Golduck - Water/Psychic
Porygon line - Normal/Steel
Granbull - Fairy/Dark
Shuckle - Rock
Masquerain - Bug/Water
Milotic - Water/Fairy
Carnivine - Grass/Flying - I mean it looks like it floats so w/e
Audino - Fairy

That's all I can think of

I thought Gallade should've been reconned as a Fairy type like the rest of the Ralts line. If nothing else, we already had Psychic/Fighting, so Fairy/Fighting would've at least been a new type.

There are only two that really bug me.

Lunala - Fairy/Something. Fairy was said to be the type of the moon, and to me, it makes no sense that it isn't a Fairy based on this lore. It's all about the moon, after all. Cresselia is a bit more understandable, as it was made beforehand, although it could also be a Psychic/Fairy at least.

Flabebe and Evolutions - Fairy/Grass. This one is the most absolute baffling to me. I usually don't question a lack of types, because the case for not having a type is usually weak and because people want to tack on extra types to Pokemon who are perfectly fine being just one type. But in this case, everything about these Pokemon screams Grass. I would really like to know Game Freak's logic behind this decision.

Dewott & Samurott - Water/Fighting - It's clearly based on samurai designs.
Emboar - Fire/Dark - Since it's partly based from the pig demon in Romance of the Three Kingdoms
Shaymin - Grass/Fairy - It just has fairy vibes in it.
Meganium - Grass/Fairy - It has some fairy qualities in it like its soothing and calming effects from its aroma.
Drowzee & Hypno - Psychic/Dark - It has some dark origins and qualities in it.
Ninetales - Fire/Ghost - It looks like it has some spirit world connections.
Beedrill - Bug/Steel - I just think it would be cool. lol

Rats and Kirlia- Psychic (again) Gardevoir can stay Psychic/Fairy though
Staraptor- Fighting/Flying
Golduck- Water/Psychic
Mismagius- Ghost/Fairy

Gardevoir - Water/Fairy
Cherrim - Fire/Grass
Seismetoad - Water/Poison
Sp/Fearow - Dark/Flying

Dark/Fairy. Definitely Dark/Fairy. Those are the two types that fit a Moon based Pokemon the most, how it ended up with neither of them is beyond me.

While we're on the topic of SM's mascots, why is Solgaleo not Fire? They really whiffed on both typings.

Toucannon: Flying/Steel. A cannon is made of steel. So why not Steel-type?
