Since the announcement of Pokemon UltraSun and UltraMoon, I'm still wondering about the black Z-Ring in the trailer and the player twist his Z-Crystal.

The fans speculate that the black Z-Ring might relate to Solgaleo, Lunaala, and Necromza Fusion. But the other fans starting to think it'll be a new mechanic, maybe something more than Legendary Pokemon Fusion.

Someone from Could Mega Evolution return for the Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon story? - Pokemon Ultra Sun Message Board for 3DS - GameFAQs speculate that megas might be returning because of the rainbow color was shown in the trailer, like how mega evolution was. I don't know if it's that because Megas might return, but I don't know if we're getting new ones. I'm might be thinking of Z-forms, because the stuff from Sun/Moon were scrapped and might be used in US/UM, it still a possibility of Z-forms. Now the other fans thinking that we're getting a new mechanic called Ultra Evolution, maybe something similar to megas, maybe we might see something like. Do you think we'll see a new mechanic that focus on legendaries or will it be something like megas and z-moves.
 
I think the Necrozma fusion thing can happen to other UBs too.
 
I'm starting to think that Colress maybe involved with solgaleo, lunaala and necromza fusion. In Black 2/White 2, Colress invented the DNA Splicer for Zekrom, Reshiram, and Kyurem to fuse into Black Kyurem and White Kyurem. Colress made his brief appearance in Sun/Moon, here's his dialogue:
"You there!"
"Oh, excuse me! I am a scientist. My name is Colress. The theme of my research is: "Bringing out the potential of Pokémon." What brings out the power of Pokémon is..."
"I believe that is—the bond they share with their Trainers!"
"And thus my attention is drawn to Trainers like yourself... Trainers bound to their Pokémon through the power of the Z-Ring!"
"Now that I think of it, I never asked your name. ..."
"<player>, is it? I'll remember your name. To commemorate our encounter, let me give you a TM."
"If you're able to utilize Flame Charge fully, you'll be able to have a great battle with the totem in the next trial...the trial in Lush Jungle."

I think he studied Z-moves and Mega Evolution.

Does Colress have something with Solgaleo, Lunaala, and Necromza?

Is Colress research the Mega Ring and Z-Ring to help pokemon unlock their potential power even further?
 
Let's nip this in the bud right here. Colress did not invent the DNA Splicers. They've existed for hundreds of years and were kept in the possession of Drayden's family for all that time.

As I said in this thread, Colress actually had nothing to do with the fusion of Kyurem. His involvement with Team Plasma was unrelated to that. His appearance in SM was a mere cameo and an easy way to give the Genesect drives to the player. Simple as that. (Remember when people similarly speculated that he'd be part of the Aether Foundation?)

Z-Forms could be interesting if done correctly.

What's interesting is that the diamond in the logos is now gone, replaced by a multi-colour triangle.
 
Gods let's hope the only new evolution feature is just necrozma body jacking the legendaries. Mega Evolution is enough. :|

Also the triangle in the logos is just the triangle that is on USUM's new Solgaleo and Lunala forms. So Necrozma's obviously going to be the big main feature of these games.

Now, I'm fine with Megas, Z-Forms, Ash-Forms, ANY form but not a Necrozma attached to my baby Typhlosion.

(I sincerely hope that IF Ultra Forms find their way to Pokemon like Lycanroc or the aforementioned Johto Starters, they don't end up having bits and pieces of Necrozma attached to it. It looks great on Solgaleo, but not on anything else)

I'm thinking that the rainbow prism on the japanese logo maybe some sort of device to fuse Solgaleo, Lunaala, and Necromza together, like they did the DNA Splicer for Zekrom, Reshiram, and Kyurem, It probably have nothing to do with black Z-ring. Maybe the Z-Ring is a upgraded Z-ring to unlock the pokemon power, what if they do more than using powerful moves, this time, maybe they'll change forms while performing Z-moves (Z-forms). Also I'm starting to think that Megas might be a main thing again, because of the moondial (which it wasn't in Sun/Moon), maybe the moondial will be in it this, we probably might go back to kalos in post-game were the Sundial is. I'm thinking that Gyms will return, but I don't think it'll be a post-game thing, It'll be a main story thing along with trials. I hoping we'll be getting New megas, since junichi masuda stated that they'll bring back megas in the future, I wouldn't consider a Gen VI gimmick. Anyway If we're getting new mechanic like New Z-forms, Ultra Evolution, or whatever they call it, but I don't think it'll link to legendaries, maybe a item that helps them fuse together.
 
Maybe only related to the box legends, maybe something more. But the new shape and the way its twisted and then releases the trademark swirl of the mega stones has me pretty damn curious.

They should have aded in Kalos megas, maybe this time they will do it with alola, especially with those pokes we had the most problems with.

Theoretically Z-forms(Ultra Form) could be forms achiewed through z-moves, lets wait and see.
Maybe there weaker then mega forms but they could be good enough to rival them in future games?

That pretty much sums up my idea of any possible Z-Form/Ultra Form that might happen in USUM. Maybe new Z-Moves can trigger Ultra Forms in the same manner that Relic Song changes Meloetta's forms? Basically, you execute the Z-Move first, then the transformation happens afterwards.
