Okay... I really don't get this.
I see a fine looking party under the tag Avengers assemble and it turns out to be illigal.
Tactics that I would use and put faith in are apparantly banned.
What I want to know is what exactly is up.

From what I understand Nintendo/Game freak has made and inforced a small list of rules:
no legendaries (to a certain extent)
no sky drop (When combined with gravity it makes an opponent immobile)
no dark void (because it's cheap)
etc.

But smogon has also made some rules. From what I read in the "who are they to decide" It seems smogon rules are not enforced but rather obligatory.

I thought I understood the rules with the link in the first post under "who are they to decide" but Sharking said that spikes and sleep powder is illigal but I didn't see that rule anywhere.

Can someone please confirm my knowlage about smogon and give me a list of all the unenforced rules. It would be greatly appreciated.

(I beleve this goes in Battle strategies and tactics because I need to know these obligatory rules to make my party. also because this thread is, more or less, related to "who are they to decide")

Thanks.

The only thing illegal about the Avengers team was the combination of Sleep Powder and Spikes on Roserade, since there's no Pokemon that can breed both those moves down to a Budew/Roselia. General rule for that scenario (Nintendo or Smogon) is "if it doesn't have a parent that can learn both of these egg moves, it can't have both". This doesn't apply to those in the Field egg group because of Smeargle.

Generally, the only "obligatory" rules in a match that follows Smogon's regulations (aside from tier-related bans) are the Species Clause (no two pokes of the same species on one team), the Evasion Clause (no moves devoted purely to raising Evasion or lowering Accuracy, such as Double Team and Sand-Attack), and the OHKO Clause (Guillotine, Horn Drill, Fissure, and Sheer Cold are banned). I think there's something else, but I'm not sure.

OOOOOHHH
You're saying sleep powder/spikes is illigal because it's impossible.
Okay.
I think the species clause is enforced in tournaments and Random matchup too.
Now I get it!
I used to be a pretty good pokemon breeder so I understand what you're getting at. Both spikes and sleep powder are both egg moves but cannot be bred unto a Budew/Roselia because no compatable pokemon can learn both moves.
