This game is so good it should have its own thread!

Undertale is an indie game that's just over a month old (as of this thread's postage) and has picked up a lot of steam (mostly because of GameGrumps).

In Undertale you have 3 routes: pacifist, neutral, and genocide. You do not need to kill anything and the game remembers previous playthroughs.
It's story heavy and earthboundy by what I've heard (I've never played earthbound). The game will ridicule you for poor moral choices however.

(BE NICE TO SKELETONS!)

Are you planning on getting the game? What runs have you done and/or are planning to do?

I watched a walk-through of the Neutral & Pacifist route. It took me a while to get into it because... well, I know not to judge a game by its graphics, but I've been so spoiled with all these cool art/graphics in games lately that I couldn't help but feel turned off. It didn't help that I recently began playing Child of Light which has fantastic art and atmosphere...

I had heard so many good things about Undertale, though, that I wanted to keep watching. It definitely didn't disappoint.

I found out about the game over the summer and I had no idea it would be this big! xD I don't have a Steam account yet, but I'm definitely buying this game when I get the chance!

I'm pretty pleased with how popular it's gotten especially from an indie game and it's only been out for a short while!

I was skeptical because it didn't seem like my type of game but storyline wise it sure is! But no way am I playing a genocide run or
hurting Papyrus or Sans ;-;

I heard there may be DLC if the game picked up some more steam and I sure hope so! It's a pretty short game, even with multiple playthroughs.

Undertale is such a great game! I've completed the neutral and pacifist routes, and I'm going to try the no mercy pretty one soon. I love the game's humor, characters, and music, although I'm not really good at the game itself... I imagine I'll have a bad time with my next run.
I really wish I could've gone into Undertale blind. My sister played it before me, and she showed me a bunch of spoilers... literally the first thing I saw of the game was the neutral route's final boss. Nevertheless, I still found it super enjoyable.

Eh...I'll stick with Five Nights at Freddy's as my favorite indie game (even if I won't play it).

I saw someone playing through the Ruins portion of it, then I looked it up on Wikipedia, TVTropes, KYM, and am fairly spoiled about it. I can see the appeal, and I agree that the writing (especially the detection of previous saves/playthroughs) is a neat, meta-level idea.

I didn't think I'd like the game so watched GameGrump's play of it and regret it, I wish I could have played it myself blind.

I'll still get the game however, though I'm hoping it'll one day have a physical release like Shovel Knight has.

Which part did you watch? Hopefully only the early game.

I also saw someone taking on the Sans battle, but the video basically started and ended with the battle so it didn't spoil anything else.

Up to the Papyrus date but I'd already seen all of the spoilers on Tumblr after that :/

I purchased it last week. Really fun game, the kind of RPG I wish there were more. It's crazy, bizarre and fun. Reminds me of games like Earthbound and Final Fantasy IX.

Nways, I am progressing reaaaaaaaally slowly. I am still on the
Muffet
boss. Really fun boss tbh, but she is kicking my ass because I am low on healing items.

I finished Undertale about a week ago, it has to be one of the best games I have played in a long time. The game made me laugh and cry, and all the characters are so memorable. I wouldn't mind playing it again, but I'll unlikely ever do the Genocide run.

I'm planning to buy this on Steam (my first full game on Mac)~

WOWIE!!!!!!

I bought this game and the soundtrack because people kept talking and talking about it. The hype is well deserved. Currently on 4th playthrough.

the below is spoiler spaghetti

1st: standard neutral playthrough - found undyne really tough because she kept doing the spears and stuff...I wasn't having a good time. Muffet, same there. Asgore, him too. I mean, I got stuck there because I was like "okay he broke the mercy button" and I didn't keep the pie because I didn't think to keep it. I eventually beat him!

undyne - regarding her, i was determined to not destroy her. i understood why she did what she had to do even if it involved seeing the game over screen.

the neutral route final boss is giygas on heroin. yeah.

2nd: true pacifist - also wanted to save a certain character (IF YOU FINISHED THIS ROUTE YOU SHOULD KNOW WHO I'M TALKING ABOUT OK) and was sad that I couldn't do it. I understood why though!

3rd: no mercy - don't do this run. i couldn't. i got to the last freakin boss and quit for obvious reasons but...still....the entire experience was really hollow and boring.

undyne - i hated having to kill her also. i admire her passion and fighting spirit in pretty much everything.
