Has this always been avaliable? I have only recently noticed a heavy amounts of it. Is there a way to disable it? I think if there is it will do a service to BMGf, because it could increase the numbers, if people want to post they should have to join. Just random thoughts.

It has not always been on.

The odd thing is, they thought it would increase numbers to turn it on.

Okay, well thanks for the answers. I could see how activity > membership. Anyway thanks again.

i have noticed a increase in number of unregistered posts.

The problem is that new members take advantage of Guests being able to post, because they don't know (or might not know) that you can see their IP's. (This is just my opinion.)

Unfortunately untrue.

I just counted - the board said 26 guests, and the "Who's online" page had 6 guests and 20 or so spiders.

By the way, I must state again that I'm against unregistered posting. I'd rather have a few dedicated members on the forums than a buch of unregistered members who don't take the effort to be there the whole time and most likely post only once in their life here.

I think it has some advantages - the increased activity, as noted, and also because certain members like Andromache wouldn't be able to contact us and let us know of an inability to register. Still, there are times where it would be a lot easier to talk with a registered user than a guest...
