And, just to clarify: The type combos in the tables are the exact order the types appear in. A Dark/Rock type does not exist even though a Rock/Dark type does. I've gotten some flack about this elsewhere, so I want to be clear.

To clarify further: The point of the list I created is to show all First type/Second type combos not yet used. Tyranitar is Rock/Dark but no pokemon is Dark/Rock. Will that affect the battle statistics? Probably not. Does any of this really matter? Probably not, but there are examples of mirror type pokemon:

Celebi is Psychic/Grass while Exeggcute and Exeggutor are Grass/Psychic.

Gallade is Psychic/Fighting while Meditite and Medicham are Fighting/Psychic.

Rhyhorn, Rhydon, and Rhyperior are all Ground/Rock while Geodude, Graveler, Golem, Onix, Larvitar, and Pupitar are all Rock/Ground.

And so, the distinction of which type is first and which type is second is not entirely a moot point.

But see, is there any difference between a rock/dark and a dark/rock? Aside from design I mean. I think the list would be more accurate if that was taken into consideration.

Well Rhyhorn, Rhydon, and Rhyperior are all Ground/Rock while Geodude, Graveler, Golem, Onix, Larvitar, and Pupitar are all Rock/Ground. I'm not sure there's a significant difference in weaknesses and strengths, but they are not interchangeable as far as I know.

I'm really surprised that they haven't used dragon/fire or fire/dragon yet considering that, as far as European dragons go, it's perhaps the single most obvious type combination.

not to mention ice/dragon. or dark/dragon. Or even Thunder/dragon. THAT is what Rayquaza should have been.

A Normal/Dragon would probably have the most epic hyper beam EVER!!!!!

I don't really get why which type comes first matters. I don't think it does.
Infernape and Blaziken are both Fighting/Fire... you might want to double-check the list.

Also, Bronzong is Psychic/Steel.

Houndoom/Houdour is Fire/Dark.

Chinchou/Lantern is Electric/Water.

Empoleon is Water/Steel.

The Gengar family is Poison/Ghost.

Staraptor is Flying/Normal.

And Ground/Water... I mean really, come on! What did you do, just blindly write down random types? You've got Wooper/Quagsire, Gastrodon, the Mudkip family line... Seriously, edit the list.

He already said he included the type combos which exist but in reverse order. Bronzong is Steel/Psychic, not Psychic/Steel. Similarly, Houndoom's main is Dark, Lanturn's Water, Gengar's Ghost, Staraptor's Normal, Quagsire/Gastrodon/Mudkip's Water.

I agree. Some type combinations have been used already (like Ice/Grass, taken by Snover and Abomasnow). Just a suggestion: have a look at every dual-typed Pokemon's typings, then look back at the list.

This is exactly why I put the notice at the bottom of the list. I'm aware of the fact that there are Normal/Flying types and that, very likely, there's not much difference between them and a Flying/Normal - except for one, very important thing: there are no pokemon with Flying as their first type.

Celebi is Psychic/Grass while Exeggcute and Exeggutor are Grass/Psychic.

Gallade is Psychic/Fighting while Meditite and Medicham are Fighting/Psychic.

As I mentioned before: Rhyhorn, Rhydon, and Rhyperior are all Ground/Rock while Geodude, Graveler, Golem, Onix, Larvitar, and Pupitar are all Rock/Ground.

Unless you're willing to argue that Celebi is interchangeably Grass/Psychic or Meditate might as well be Psychic/Fighting like Gallade, then the First Type/Second Type must be important in some way, even if it's only for aesthetic reasons.

Like I said in my previous post, I still don't see how that matters. So when Geodude (Rock) evolves, it also takes on the type Ground. It becomes apart of that type, and sometimes the secondary typing is more powerful than the first.

And like I said, I agree that the order of the types probably does not matter, but that doesn't mean you're going to find a Flying/Normal pokemon.

The list is specifically based on what type comes first, not just what types are paired. Water/Ground is statistically the same as Ground/Water, but Quagsire, Gastrodon, Wiscash, and the Mudkip family are all bottom-feeding fish and more Water than Ground in design, making them Water/Ground types, while hypothetically a Rhydon carrying a class-A fire extinguisher would be more Ground than Water and thus be a Ground/Water type.

There are Pokemon like Kingdra or Salamence which gain a type as they evolve (Kingdra gets dragon, Salamence gets flying). Like the Quagsire thing, it might statistically not make a difference but Kingdra is more water than dragon and Salamence is more dragon than flying.

But consider this:
Pokemon like Drapion and Steelix change types when they evolve. Skorupi is Poison/Bug. When he evolves, the secondary type changes to dark. Skorupi is obviously a poison Pokemon first. Steelix on the other hand changes his primary type. Onix is Rock/Ground but Steelix is Steel/Ground. Based on pokedex entry it seems this is because its rock structure changes into steel. Even though ground is the type which sticks around, it is rock and then steel which is intended to be the primary type concept for Onix and Steelix.

I agree, as long as they look like Dragons instead of a dog, a wrestler, and a centipede like generation IV's dragon trio.

Lol'd at this xD.
But yeah, I'd love to see a Water/Fire, Kraken, anyone?

um.. a lot of those ARE types..

dargon/water? palkia

ice/dark? snesel

and others, comon man.. i picked out a few off the top of my head.
