Upcoming Episodes Preview- Satoshi vs Hala!

Is it wrong that my attention was primarily caught by the scene with Ash and Kiawe flying on Pelipper and Charizard near the start? Could we finally be getting some Kiawe focus?
 
Everything I wanted to see was in the first 3 seconds, Ash has Normalium-Z :) I mean, it was pretty obvious that it would be happening soon, but it's so great to see. Especially since we haven't seen any Z-move action since episode 2.

It seems like Hala's strongest is Hariyama instead of Crawbrawler? I'm a bit confused as to why they would do that, especially since Ash's only Pokemon at that point are Pikachu and Rowlet. But right now, I'm just glad that the Grand Trial will be happening soon and that we'll get to see some All-Out Pummeling. Looks like Pikachu will be using Breakneck Blitz against Hala in the Grand Trial. Hopefully Rowlet will get in on the Breakneck Blitzing in another battle.

No it's not wrong that your attention was drawn by the scene with Ash and Kiawe flying on Pelipper and Charizard. It's nice that we get to see some Kiawe focus.

Pikachu should be fine, but I was speaking more with regards to Rowlet. He's still really inexperienced, and to be put in a battle against such a strong opponent looks like it'll be overkill. I just feel keeping Crabrawler would have made for a more even matchup. Not that it matters since it seems like Pikachu will be the one to handle Hariyama anyway.
 
I do wonder if Ash will be able to beat Hala on his first try. They usually have Ash lose a Gym match or two per series and doing so with his first Grand Trial would emphasize how difficult they are, as well as how strong the Kahuna are. I also wonder if they'll somehow feature Hau during that match, especially when his desire to beat Hala is kind of important. While I did like what I've seen of the school setting thus far, I am kind of glad that they'll be going through the first Grand Trial in the not so distant future, if only so that people can stop assuming that the entire series will be only at the school.

It is cool that Ash is going to use some Z-Moves after his first trial. That does make me wonder a bit as to how they'll handle the Z-Crystals. He'll get the ones from the Trials and Grand Trials, but I wonder if they'll also include all of the Z-Crystals you find in the games so that he can showcase all different kinds of Z-Moves through his team. It might depend on if any future games add something different to the Island Trial experience that they want to reflect down the road in the anime, similar to how Ash faced Roxie for his eighth Unova Gym battle to tie in with B2/W2 promotion. I'm sure he'll get the Pikachu specific Z-Crystal at least for obvious reasons.
 
Its possible the battle with Hala will be two on two with Crabrawler being the weaker one of Hala's, but we'll have to wait and see. Interesting that they didn't show Illima though

Why assume that Rowlet will face Hariyama, though? Hala will probably use two Pokemon, and one of them could be Crabrawler.

I'm not assuming that Rowlet will battle Hariyama. On the contrary, I figure Pikachu will be handling him. I'm just hoping he's able to knock out Hala's other Pokemon so Pikachu won't get both wins like in the Viola battle. I do hope that the other Pokemon is in fact Crabrawler.
 
I think what may happen is Rowlet vs Crabrawler (win), Rowlet vs Hairyama (Lose) and Pikachu vs Hairyama (Lose). Which goes well with @Hidden Mew's point...

I agree that Ash should lose this match. As you said, it will show him (as well as the audience) that the Kahuna are pretty powerful. There could be a follow-up mini-arc that has him train for a rematch (as well as ake a more serious tone to battling in Alola). During this arc, he can fully explore Melemele, maybe catch another Pokemon or two (Litten!) and have more central episodes for the rest of the cast. Then BAM! Hala rematch with a deserved victory. At least that's how I would like for it to be carried out...

I think we could see this sort of rematch after Litten is caught...

Monkey/Primeape vs Rowlet (Rowlet Wins)
Crabrawler vs Rowlet (Rowlet Lose)
Crabrawler vs Litten (Litten Wins [Expecting to see stoutland shots here])
Hariyama vs Litten (Litten Loses)
Hariyama vs Pikachu (Pikachu wins)
 
Why would anyone want Mokuroh to win and Pikachu to lose in the same match? Mokuroh is an inexperienced baby bird and Pikachu is a well cut fighter with 20 years experience.

Nevertheless I always enjoy the first gym loss of the series so I'm not hoping for a different overall outcome...

Becuase Rowlet is everyone's favourite Alola Starter (not mine), and they want to see it in Limelight,
