Pokemon Green Version - English
By level42

photo1hbj.jpg

Original Post: (July 21st 2011)

I've been playing with PhotoShop for the last few days and I've come up with this!

I've still got a lot of work to do, but this is my first printed prototype.

*It's small because my printer will not accept paper large enough (10"x20")
**The colors are slightly off because my printer is cheep
***The alignment is off and I will be fixing this in the future.

Anyways, here's what I've got so far.

The point? To print out an awesome proper one that would look amazing in my collection, on my shelf.
UPDATE: November 12th 2011

The current status of this project. Well, it has slowed down but is not dead. I've been tied up in a few other things including my MAME Arcade machine ;) Rest assured I hope to have this 100% completed, at some point.

Will I release the final artwork. I'm not sure yet, it depends on how I feel, on the day, and of the artwork.

I appreciate the community support and its basically what is driving me to finish this! (Keep encouraging me and we might see the 100% final sooner then later!)

Thanks again!!!

[UPDATE] - March 24th 2013

Work has begun on the new 300dpi version!
See here:
http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/f237/up...box-art-1998-a-115151/index4.html#post4675148

All 5 items listed below have/will be addressed in the new 300dpi version, once completed.

ToDo list:

1. *This is a big one* Redo the all the text and low res parts with a new 300DPI version.
- This includes the Bar-code, Characters and Logos (Amusing I can find a higher res version, help is appreciated) ALL the typed text
2. Clean up the battle screenshot (If anyone wants to recreate the Sandshrew vs Meowth screen shot that would be AWESOM!)
3. Re-size and realign some things, logos, text characters.
4. Correct the game code on both the box and cartridge
- Box: DMG P APBA Cart: DMG-APBA-USA
5. Re-size the cartridge slot inside, original cut is way over sized.

6. More Soon.

Holy crap, that's awesome! Keep up the good work!!

Re: Pokemon Green U.S.A Box Art (1999) *Not LeafGreen

Thanks!

It's been designed to be printed in the correct size/measurements. But again, I'm limited by my printer.

Re: Pokemon Green U.S.A Box Art (1999) *Not LeafGreen

Ooooo... very nice. This is certainly a unique work.
It would have been nice to complete the other sides as well, but that does not really detract from the sleek professionalism of the rest of it. Hilariously, due to the age of the box, the Green one actually looks a bit better.
Hrmm... hope Nintendo doesn't sue you over the seal.... XP

Re: Pokemon Green U.S.A Box Art (1999) *Not LeafGreen

Looks pretty legit so far. If you're going for 100% accuracy, there are some inconsistencies:

1. The ESRB logo is the modernised one. Dunno if it's worth worrying about that though.
2. "Link to Yellow" at the bottom seems a bit silly. If I recall, Green was paired with Red in Japan, so it'd likely say "Link to Red" if it came stateside as Green.
3. Gameboy is followed by a TM on your Green box, rather than the (R) present on Red.
4. Obviously the bar code is fake, but I dunno what you could do with that within reasonable limits. Maybe copy Green (J)'s barcode, if possible?

And obviously the unfinished bits/size which you're aware of. Outside of that, I'd be easily convinced it's real. You're not a professional software pirate by trade, are ya? *runs*

Here's my first, final, draft if anyone wants to see what it looks like full size. (Or as big as your printer prints)

Goo gawd......my mind is blown. That's an EPIKWIN right there.

Re: Pokemon Green U.S.A Box Art (1999) *Not LeafGreen

Wait, doesn't the Green one use a newer, red Nintendo logo, while Red version has a white one. ;)

Re: Pokemon Green U.S.A Box Art (1999) *Not LeafGreen

I'd imagine that's because the box is red. My old Shadowgate Classic (biggest waste of money for the GBC, btw) box has a red and white logo on the back of it, much like level42's box here.

Anyways, the changes make it look very authentic. A+

Re: Pokemon Green U.S.A Box Art (1999) *Not LeafGreen

Sorry, which Nintendo logo are you talking about? Is there another inacuracy on my box?

Also, for those who are following along. Label is finished!

Label.png

Things to do.

A.) Find a place that sells the same card stock that was used for Pokemon Red/Blue boxes. If anyone knows what card stock I need, let me know. Thanks.
B.) ***This is done*** Paint ghetto old GB Cartridge green and adhere label.
C.) Get final draft printed on proper card-stock.
D.) Assemble everything.

Dude......that's freakin' amazing. Good job, man.

Re: [56k warning] - Pokemon Green U.S.A Box Art (1999) *Not LeafGreen

I wonder if one could get a Pokemon Blue, paint it Green, do all this, and then just be happy for having all 3 of them with a wrong coloring and stuff for one of them xD

Re: [56k warning] - Pokemon Green U.S.A Box Art (1999) *Not LeafGreen

Probably would have been the same amout of work.

Just FYI there wont be many updates till about the first week of aug, were going on vacation this Friday and I've got tons to get ready for.

Re: [56k warning] - Pokemon Green U.S.A Box Art (1999) *Not LeafGreen

Not sure if you care about this detail (the box and cartridge look amazing by the way):
I noticed that the Nintendo seal on the back of the Pokemon Green box is different from the one on the Pokemon Red box (the Green box has Official Nintendo Seal while the Red box has Official Nintendo Seal of Quality).

Enjoy your vacation :D

Actually I care about every possible detail. I'm trying to make this as close as possible to the real thing (That would have existed) Thanks for your comments and I will def enjoy my vacation!

As for the instruction booklet, considering that Red and Blue USA use the same book, I figure that Green would have also, I'm going to go online and buy a manual from ebay. There only a few bucks.
