The Hollywood Reporter has published an interesting article on the film projects that DC Comics has in the works. They mention previously-reported titles The Losers, Jonah Jex, The Green Lantern, and Red, but there's more on others we haven't heard much about lately. Here's a few excerpts:

This past fall, Warners quietly hired three of DC's biggest writers -- Geoff Johns, Grant Morrison and Marv Wolfman -- to act as consultants and writers for its superhero line of movies. The move involved taking back the reins on projects being handled by such producers as Charles Roven ("The Flash") and Akiva Goldsman ("Teen Titans").

The moves have begun to pay off. Johns worked up a new treatment for a "Flash" script, being written by Dan Mazeau; Johns will act in a producer capacity on the project, which has not attached a director.

The projects Morrison and Wolfman are working on are in the early stages at Warners, whose execs declined to comment.

The studio is taking pitches on sci-fi hero Adam Strange and the underwater-breathing hero "Aquaman," to be produced by Leonardo DiCaprio and his Appian Way shingle.

Also in the pipeline: "Bizarro Superman" being written by "Galaxy Quest" scribes David Howard and Robert Gordon; a sequel to "Constantine," with Goldsman and Erwin Stoff producing; two concurrent Green Arrow projects, an origin story and a prison-set one titled "Super Max"; and "Shazam," which was set up at New Line but has moved to Warners, with Pete Segal attached to direct.

They also mention a Superman Returns sequel, a third Batman film from Christopher Nolan and the Justice League movie, but there's no real news there.

Full story.

Two Green Arrow projects? Wow. And Marv Wolfman on a Teen Titans movie? That's just great. Though I'm wondering if Morrison's working on the Superman Returns sequel or something else. And, yay, Flash.

Marv Wolfman being involved with the Teen Titans movie can only be a good thing. His run with George Perez on New Teen Titans back in the 1980’s was one of the best comic book runs out there.

If Grant Morrison is involved with the next Superman movie that should be a good thing, as well. I may question Morrison’s recent run on Batman and the Final Crisis min-series (I really didn’t like either), but I did enjoy his run on All-Star Superman and the next Superman movie can’t be any worse than Superman Returns turn out to be (I hope).

Wait... we get Teen Titans before Wonder Woman? What is this world coming to?

Teen Titans cartoon was successful. Wonder Woman animated movie was a blip on the screen.

Plus, I seem to recall hearing something about the studio not wanting to make movies focused on female characters. But that might have just been a rumor.

Marv Wolfman? The Marv Wolfman? Color me very intrigued.

"Bizarro Superman" could be worth it look; it's all going to depend on just how "serious" they decide to make it. Don't know if I'm really all that interested in "Aquaman". He'd have to be a lot like the Aquaman of CN's Justice League or else I may not really care too much.

I remember reading that on a blog about two years ago. It seems that WB had a couple of female heavy films that didn't do well at the box office, so they decided to concentrate more on male oriented movies. I only found it on that blog, so I can't verify whether or not it's actually true. (And I can't seem to find it, either...)

I thought the delay with Wonder Woman has to do with the endless creative differences. If Warner Bros. won’t make Wonder Woman because of that awful Catwoman movie then that’s just lame.

Initially it was that they couldn't find a script they liked (I think Joss Whedon even pitched a script). Then, after Justice League got canned, the rumor listed above made the rounds. The real, 100% true reason? Who knows. Who knows why Marvel's never made a movie based on one of their female characters, nor seemingly intends to? Wouldn't be surprised if, on SOME level, it's sexism. If nothing else, it's due to the lack of success female-centric comics seem to have. With no fan base to draw from, they might feel it's not worth the cost of making one. Of course...Howard the Duck and Man-Thing got movies...

Elektra did poorly as well...

So poorly that I somehow COMPLETELY forgot about it. And I remembered Man-Thing...

That it did. It was a good movie, but not really great. I think that's what we need here: a movie based on a female character that has a truly great story. Maybe then we'll see some success.

I'd love to see Christopher Nolan try and do a Huntress or Batgirl movie. Or Jon Favreau do a Black Widow movie (assuming she coems off well in Iron Man 2).

The Losers? Jonah Hex? Why on earth would anyone make movies about THEM?

And a Teen Titans movie. Yay.

Flash movie. Double yay.

Probably because it’s “cheaper” to make since, The Losers is set in World War II and Jonan Hex is a western.

I'd love to see Christopher Nolan try and do a Huntress or Batgirl movie.

What about Christopher Nolan doing a Birds of Prey movie. That would be awesome.
