Yeah, they really did.
And they did it because lobbyists from the frozen food, salt, and potato industries (as well as others) were worried that they would lose a major source of revenue by excluding pizza from school lunches. Saving money for these industries was prioritized over the Obama administration's efforts to create healthier school lunches to fight obesity in America's youth.
Now, I love pizza like no other, but seriously? (Let's not even talk about the fact that tomatoes are genetically a fruit, not a vegetable. The US Supreme Court designated tomatoes as vegetables in 1893 so they could tax them. LOL)
