User Groups (Public vs Social)

I understand the whole social user group thing. But I've noticed that some people have little icons by their names- that refers to a public user group. or at least that's what some of the people i've asked have told me.

so how do you join a public user group? do you have to do something special?

oh. gah, i don't even know who'd that be. i can't even find a link to the group. i just see the icons, floating around.

EDIT: Actually, I think you have to be a member of the clubs that the groups are created for. Like the Misty Club, Ash Club in the "Clubs" section.

gah... okay quick. are they social group clubs? i requested to join already and i don't want to be doing anything wrong. ^^;
