Username changing restriction?

I'm tried to change my username to one of my previous usernames, BoredBeyondBelief, and it said:

That username is already in use or does not meet the administrator's standards. If you are BoredBeyondBelief and you have forgotten your password, click here.

So, I checked the member's list to see if another user had taken the username. No one had. If possible, can this be explained and/or someone change my username for me? Inform me first, though, please?

I'm sorry if I'm ranting. I'm just asking a question, and I don't want to seem bothersome.

You have to change your name a certain number of times to get an old one back. Why not do the same name with a * on either side?

@Plasfyre ; if you really want to change your username back to BoredBeyondBelief, you can ask an administrator to do it for you.
