Using mushrooms in place of plastic packaging

Apparently what they do is let the mushroom mycelium (which is like roots?) grow into the mold they want, and then it gets cooked to form something hard that works similarly to plastic or styrofoam for packaging!

Finally we have something that could realistically replace plastic? Or maybe not, I'm not sure.

I don't see this taking the place of plastic entirely any time soon, but even reducing the need for so much plastic to choke birds with would be a success.

That would be so cool. I hope it happens.

They'd have to market it carefully though. Whilst I think that mushroom bags are cool, I don't know how many people would.
