I assume Archives inquiries go here, so here's my problem.

I have attempted to upload SVG files. I know there has been a problem with these in the past, and there still is. Take this image, for example. It is an SVG rendering of the Bulbapedia logo. However, does it convert to a PNG through the wiki? No. Therefore, it cannot be used on any pages. However, it can be viewed as a regular SVG still; looky here.

Is there any way to fix this? I think it is an ImageMagick issue.

See here and here for some help on MediaWiki's site.

EDIT: see below.

Hi. Archaic, what software do you have in place to render SVG? ImageMagick is not really a good rendering engine.

BTW, users of MSIE cannot view the SVGs at all.

IE8 has support, at least on Windows 7. But I rarely use IE. And ImageMagick is part of MediaWiki, I think.

Alright, before anyone infracts me for replying to an old topic, I have good reason. First, the issue is still an issue. Second, why start a new topic for the same issue as an old one? And third, starting a new topic takes up more server space; small things eventually matter!

So, yeah. I sent a PM to Archaic, evkl, TTEchidna, and Zhen Lin about this, but just wanted to have some... er... feedback.

To quote my PM:

Hello!

I know I've mentioned this before, but I got no response in the thread about it.

SVGs don't convert to PNGs correctly. For that matter, they don't convert AT ALL.

Easy fix? See here.

Though I feel that you guys have tried that before. Therefore, let's start from scratch, using librsvg for SVG implementation. Instructions can be found here.

That still not working? Then... I be sadded. Big reason for this is how tiny SVGs are, and how that'd save space, especially on logos.

Thank you,

Now, as you can see in my first post above, this hasn't gotten fixed. Basically, I'm asking for feedback to those who are familiar with image renderers: is librsvg a good choice in your opinion?
