  1. Overall, Do you like or dislike version exclusives? why?
  2. How are you feeling about the version exclusives we do know for sun and moon?
  3. Is there a version exclusive or two that is making you consider getting the other version or both versions?
  4. What is your favorite version exclusive S/M so far?

1. Version exclusives are basically a way to earn Nintendo more money.
They said it encourages trading, but in reality, it encourages each person to buy 2 games.

2. I don't necessarily hate them. In the end, you can trade them with people or yourself anyway.
I somehow think it's nice to have.
If we only have one version of the game each gen, it probably would be a bit boring because everyone has the exact same game.

3. I really like Passimian, but I still think I want Pokemon Moon.

4. I love Lunala.

1. Version exclusive are cool, they create a little bit of uniqueness to the wild Poke list of each game (for pairs that don't have many differences like XY to name one)

2.I feel like Sun is getting the slightly better ones
Personal preference I like Midday Lycanroc and Passimian and UB-02 Beauty so Sun is leading even though I plan on playing Moon.

3. Maybe, but trading works too I guess
4. I like Passimian and UB-02 Beauty

1. I am fine with it. The whole point of version exclusives to get the other game or communicate with another player.
2. I have no problems with the version exclusives that we currently have.
3. Doesn't matter since I always get both versions.
4. Haven't chose one yet.

I don't mind them. It's a gimmick through and through, but it works for the series.

How are you feeling about the version exclusives we do know for sun and moon?

Solgaleo and Lunala are both really cool, but I prefer Solgaleo.

I prefer Passimian over Oranguru, but again, I like them both and think that they have very cool stories to them.

I'm right in the middle on the Lycanroc debate, but I have to agree that objectively, it looks like Midnight Form got the short end of the stick (I don't really mind it being a pure Rock type, but Counter? Is that really the most interesting thing they can say about it?).

Absorption and Beauty are both interesting, unsettling designs, so again, neutral on that one.

As for the overworld time, I'm a little torn. I'm definitely a "play at nighttime" person, but I'm starting out with Moon, which means that it will be daytime in-game for most of the time, which feels a little odd for a game called "Moon." Then again, maybe that'll be nice, since I so rarely see daytime in the games. In general, I think the version exclusive time idea is a really great concept.

Is there a version exclusive or two that is making you consider getting the other version or both versions?

No, but I'm going to (eventually) buy both anyway simply because I like to have one "completed" game and one that I can restart over and over.

What is your favorite version exclusive S/M so far?

Solgaleo, which is ironically on the version that I'm not going to buy first.

They said it encourages trading, but in reality, it encourages each person to buy 2 games.

I uderstand the logic of this, but I don't think it actually applies as much in practice - I doubt that very many people would rather shell out $80 for essentially two copies of the same game just to get a few extra Pokémon, when they could easily hop online and trade for them.

1. I don't really mind them. We've had them since the first gen after all.

2. I'm fine with them so far, none of them have really driven me wild yet....but none of them are really a turn off either.

3. There's only three things I'm considering right now, mascot legends (prefer Lunala), how time works (want to try inverted) and the exclusive Ultra Beasts (pretty even on both) so I'm still happy with getting Moon. I don't care about regular Pokemon like Passimian because I can get them through the GTS anyway.

4. Lunala I guess....although maybe also the inverted time that's in Moon.

1. So long as trading allows me to easily obtain them, I'm alright with it. Though, it really is just Gamefreak's excuse to sell one game for the price of two.
2. I LOVE YOU, KING LOUIE YOU ARE THE BEST APE EVER. Lunala is AWESOME. Evolution exclusives however will always suck in my eyes.
3. Nope Moon is love Moon is lift. Praise be to the greatest and most beautiful of celestial bodies.
4. *points at Oranguru* HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE KING LOUIE LOOK AT HIM.

1) I think that, in general, the version exclusives were a good idea at the start, but eventually they just turned into an extra forty bucks for the developers.
2) The exclusives in this gen all came out really well so far, except maybe Midnight Lycanroc.
3) I've been planning on getting Sun since they were announced, so the version exclusives didn't really change that much.
4) I'd have to say that my favorite so far is Lunala. Not counting the mascot legendaries, my favorite is Midday Lycanroc.

  1. I like them. It makes the games more varied and gives more intensive to buy both or trade with others.
  2. They all seem pretty good so far.
  3. Nah, I was going for Sun from the start. Though coincidentally, I have preferred all of Sun's exclusives up until this point. Glad I made the right choice:)
  4. I guess Solaleo. Passimian is cool and Lycanroc Midday is decent looking, but Solgaleo is the main exclusive that I really like much more than its counterpart.

1. Meh, I see positives and negatives. More than anything, it's an excuse to make two separate versions of every game to make more money. But it does give fans some variety, replay-fun value (if you count getting the second game), and encourages friends to play together and trade. Though I'd like to see stronger version exclusive content (more than just Pokemon) to make the versions more worthwhile, like bigger story or location differences or something (but not so much as to require players to get both games for a good experience).

2. Meh. I like Oranguru a lot. And Lycanroc is a slight disappointment. Besides that nothing else has piqued my interest much.

3. Oranguru is definitely a point for Moon, for me. Nothing else has really done so yet.

4. Oranguru.

I originally preordered moon, but now I'm inclined into buying both games. There are a lot of version exclusives. The time, the evolution, the UBs. That means good news for game freak, they did well in differentiating the two games, similar to gen 5.

My preference though.. Sun VS Moon.
Absorption<Beauty
Midday>Midnight
Passimian<Oranguru
Solgaleo<Lunala

While I still prefer moon, I still love to experience sun.. If the UBs are uncatchable, I won't be able to encounter Absorption..

In terms of moves and abilities I'd say that Sun got the better dog and Moon go the better primate. But for dynamic personalities I'd say the inverse is true.

Version exclusives aren't really an issue any more given how easy it is to trade with total strangers over Wi-Fi. But god, I detested them back in the day. I understand that having two parallel games with minor differences has always been this franchise's thing, but in Gens I-III it all rested upon the assumption that you'd actually have someone to trade with in the first place. As none of my friends were into Pokemon back then, I played the games in total isolation, and had to accept that there'd always be empty slots in my Pokedex. :(

I think version exclusives are fine, but I don't really have a great like or dislike about them. The only ones I dislike are the new version exclusive evolution. With Lycanroc, I think it would have been better to let you choose the evolution in some way, regardless of the version you have.

How are you feeling about the version exclusives we do know for sun and moon?
Both of Lycanroc's variants are awesome, and I like the Legendaries a lot. The Apes don't really interest me at all, though.

Is there a version exclusive or two that is making you consider getting the other version or both versions?
I'm getting Moon, regardless of the exclusives. I had already planned this just from the titles alone.

What is your favorite version exclusive S/M so far?
So far I'm liking Moon's Lycanroc. It looks pretty cool and it reminds me a lot of the Moombas from Final Fantasy VIII. They are awesome.

I'm fine with exclusive pokemon as long as they fit 2 restrictions. A) they're tradeable to the other versions and B) You can fully raise one in each version, barring legendaries. (more on this part at the end.)
How are you feeling about the version exclusives we do know for sun and moon?
Barring Lycanroc I'm liking the revealed exclusives. The 2 monkies are neat, especially the lores, and the older pokémon revealed as exclusive seem to fit pretty well as exclusives.
Is there a version exclusive or two that is making you consider getting the other version or both versions?
I'm already getting both so it's just a matter which game I play through first. Right now it'll likely be Moon for Oranguru.
What is your favorite version exclusive S/M so far?
Oranguru no doubt. I've always been partial to Orangutans and I like the scolary vibe Oranguru gives off.

Now to expand on 1b and Lycanroc. I dislike the idea of a version exclusive evolution as it means I can't raise a pokémon from the egg into the form I want. for example I like the midday form of Lycanroc more meaning I'll need to play sun to get my rockruff to evolve into it but if I'm playing moon i'll need to trade (either to get a diff lycanroc or to evolve it on my copy of the other version.) Now if they introduce a way to override this I'll be happy with the feature as I'd be able to raise it how I want. Personally I hope they do even if it uses a version exclusive pokemon to do so.
For example if I want a midday form in Moon then being able to evolve Rockruff with a Solgaleo in the party makes it a midday form instead of midnight form. This keeps the version exclusivity as you'd need to trade over the Solgaleo but it solves the only "problem" I have with version exclusive evolutions. There's some precedent with this, Mantyke and Pancham, so I hope (even though I kinda doubt it) that including the bit about Solgaleo/Lunala in Lycanroc's description id hinting at something like this mechanic.

  1. I'm okay with it, until just recently when they introduce version-exclusive evolution with Lycanroc. Tough I'll change my opinion, again, if we can get the other form in the post-game.
  2. I like the Sun-version Pokemon slightly better I think. Though I like it how Moon is 12 hours apart from your 3DS clock.
  3. I'm inclined to buy Moon now but if the starters get to get version-exclusive evolution, I'll buy whichever version with ArcheRowlet on it.
  4. Lunala, maybe?

1. I love the premise of it. More version exclusive content the better. I second what @The_Doctor said.

2. All are pretty interesting imo, especially Oranguru.

3. Mid-Day Lycanroc is slowly swaying me towards Sun. I really like it.

4. Again, Mid-Day Lycanroc. The design is great and priority rock move just sweetens the deal.
