I read a post that Silver is Giovanni's son??Now I thought I was a Pokemon fan but must confess I gave up on it after Johto because Hoenn lost me as a fan.I need some explainations first, what was the Orange Islands about I missed those episodes?I was always a game player before I watched the show and I missed alot it seems.Did Ash ever face or beat the Elite Four? Thanks.

mmmm...let's just say...not a whole lot happened in Johto.

Plus, Silver never made an appearance.

As for the Orange Islands, Ash fought against four Gym Leaders called the Orange Crew, and beat them. He fought against their top player Drake (Not to be confused with the Hoenn Elite Four member) and won a trophy

Ash might challenge the Elite 4 in this generation.

Yeah, it was hinted at in FireRed and LeafGreen.

Ash, Misty, and Tracey on a Lapras more or less randomly traveling around the Orange Islands, with Ash winning four badges by unconventional means. It ended with Ash winning the cup by defeating the head honcho of the Orange League. If you have a Region 1 or 4 DVD player, you can watch it all on DVD.

Did Ash ever face or beat the Elite Four?
Outside of a couple unofficial practice matches with a couple different members, no.

EDIT: Beat.

Silver (as in the GSC Rival, not to be confused with the rough-and-tumble Chikorita trainer from the HoSos) had a VERY brief appearence in the series, but by "very brief" I mean "a single shot". He's during the Japanese opening credits to Legend of Thunder. No connections to any canon characters except Kenta are ever made, and even then he's not even established as Kenta's rival, just some guy who trounced him once (and then supposedly got beat by Kenta in a tournament later as a shot later in the intro shows Kenta's Typhlosion beating a Nidoking, although it's only IMPLIED that it's meant to be the one seen standing next to Silver).

Yeah, Silver, in the Pokemon Special manga, was revealed to be Giovanni's son. This was revealed in the FRLG chapters of Special, if you're interested.

There's nothing wrong with that. Hoenn lost me too till Sinnoh.

The Orange Island/Orange Archipelago was a chain of closely packed tropical islands that were located south of Kanto. The islands were all named after some kind of fruit or citrus.

I believe Ash and Misty wound up there by incident when Team Rocket placed them on a hijacked air craft to steal the GS Ball or something. Once there, they ran into Tracey who was the know-how of the islands. His quest was to study and learn about Pokemon, in the hopes that he could one day become a professor (he idolized Oak).

It was then revealed that the Islands had their very own "Orange League". It merely required that a competitor of the league win 4 badges to become a contender against whomever the current Champion was.

The 4 gym leaders were Cissy, Danny, Rudy, and Luana.

Cissy specialized in water Pokemon. The first part of her match was an accuracy test using water gun. The second test was surfing around buoys near the coast. Ash had to win both of these to succeed.

Danny used a mixture of Pokemon that leaned towards physical types like Scyther, Machop, and Nidoqueen. His first test was to climb a mountain to reach his "gym". Ash then, with his Pokemon, had to build a bobsled of ice, and finally, race down the mountain with it, accompanied by his Pokemon.

Rudy battled same type with same type. So Ash's Pikachu faced his Electabuzz, Bulbasaur v. Exeggcutor, and Squirtle v. Starmie.

Finally was Luana, who challenged Ash to the first ever double battle in Pokemon (if you don't count Team Rocket's).

After beating these four. Ash was qualified to face Drake, and his team of Pokemon like Dragonite and Venusaur. This was Ash's first ever 6-6 battle (that I can recall).

I was always a game player before I watched the show and I missed alot it seems.Did Ash ever face or beat the Elite Four? Thanks.

Ash never faced or beat the Elite Four. They all made an appearance at one point (Agatha's came way late, at the beginning of "Battle Frontier"), but there were never any implications of battling the Kanto E4 that you're thinking of. They all kinda sorta had their own thing.

Now, however, there's heavy implication leaning towards the idea that Ash will be facing Sinnoh's Elite 4. There's been build up to it this whole time.

Hope this catches you up; I recommend you watch DP, it's really good.

Some Elite Four members have yet to show up. The originals all got in, but not all regions' E4s have--Karen, Will, Sidney, Glacia, Phoebe, Flint, and Bertha haven't put in any face time, and neither has Koga as anything but a Gym Leader. Aya even showed up in Johto and never said anything about him being promoted as he had in the games...

Here is a scan from Pokémon Special:

Yeah, Silver, in the Pokemon Special manga, was revealed to be Giovanni's son. This was revealed in the FRLG chapters of Special, if you're interested.

This was also implied in the FR/LG games as well, when you talk to the Scientist in the Rocket Warehouse on 5th island.

There's nothing wrong with that. Hoenn lost me too till Sinnoh.

Yeah, and even though I technically haven't watched the Hoenn Series, the research I did on that series made me realize that it was pretty bad (Especially trying to make the GLs of Hoenn seem similar to JJM Battles (In other words, Joke battles where anyone can beat them.).).

Well, Kind of. He did intend to go to the Orange Islands, though only to pick up the GS ball.

Ash never faced or beat the Elite Four. They all made an appearance at one point (Agatha's came way late, at the beginning of "Battle Frontier"), but there were never any implications of battling the Kanto E4 that you're thinking of. They all kinda sorta had their own thing.

Well, Ash kinda faced Prima/Lorelei and Agatha, but besides that, he hasn't faced the Kanto Elite 4.

Now, however, there's heavy implication leaning towards the idea that Ash will be facing Sinnoh's Elite 4. There's been build up to it this whole time.

That is, assuming they actually go through with it and not just drop it like they did with the GS Ball, Jessie's history in Hoenn, and other things like that.

lol, prior to DP, Hoenn used to be considered the second best saga after Kanto. (except for those who loved Orange, which I can understand). I've seen nothing but praise for it (aside from Groudon/Kyorge) on every forum I've ever been on. However now most agree DP is the second best since Kanto.

How anyone can say those dull Johto seasons, seasons that the writers themselves apologized to us for what good, is beyond me. I guess no matter what a saga was, it'll always have its fans.

I honestly don't even think the writers themselves like how they wrote the Johto saga.

How anyone can say those absolutely horrible Johto seasons, seasons that the writers themselves apologized to us for what good, is beyond me. I guess no matter how awful a saga was, it'll always have its fans.

The only reason why people would even like Hoenn is because they are fickle-minded.

Believe me, if you actually sat down and watched the Hoenn Saga battles without rose-colored glasses, you would see that they were absolutely terrible. I mean, Ash may have had experience from two leagues (three or four leagues counting Orange League and the Whirl Islands) doesn't mean that his new, completely inexperienced pokemon should be able to defeat the Gym Leaders pokemon (most of whom were very experienced) as if they were nothing but tissue paper. That's too similar to how JJM lose most of the time (In other words, being beaten by something like a barely even conscious, inexperienced Caterpie.). If I were to restart my journey fresh, I DEFINITELY couldn't beat the Gym Leaders on the first try with my rookie pokemon.

Besides, this topic is just asking about the Orange Island, and whether Silver is Giovanni's son or not, and whether Ash actually faced the Elite 4, so you're basically dragging it off topic, Scott.

Sources?

And yet you go on about how stereotypes are bad.

Guess thats why I liked Hoenn. And Johto.

Anyway, Silver is Giovanni's son in the special. He had a cameo in the Legend of Thunder opening, so he could be his son in the anime as well. We'll never know though, since Paul's taken over the role of Silver. And a lot of people think Ash is Giovanni's kid instead.

What's this "instead"? Giovanni could have more than one kid...and given that he seems the sort to lord power over everyone he can, and test his limits with everyone, I'd say it's very likely that it's come up more than once...even if it's neither of them.

There you have it, folks.

Weedle is upset that people enjoy the Pokemon anime without Misty in it.

What was this topic about, again?

A few questions that were answered within a few posts before Weedle left his mark...

Closing to avoid further derailment, and since the answers to the actual topic have already been summed up.
