So Generation VI brings 69 new Pokemon to the table, according to Bulbapedia, bringing the total to 718. This is the least amount of new Pokemon introduced in a Generation ever. Did anyone feel that that was too few? I know that when I finished my Y game and looked at my Pokedex and realized that I had basically seen every new Pokemon (sans Xerneas and Zygarde) I was shocked. What do you think, too few new 'mons or just the right amount?

To be honest I like that we got a smaller number of new pokemon. If they kept going at that pace we'd hit 1000 'mons in no time. It's already a chore to fill up the national dex and it will only get more so.

The one thing I was especially happy about was that there weren't a lot of new legendaries. B+W really missed the mark for me on that with the number they crammed into that gen since I never use legendaries and they just sit there taking up space in my boxes once I catch them.

I really doubt anyone would say it wasn't too few pokemon. It's understandable, but I still find it quite disappointing.

But they should release an event pokemon some time soon.

hold on, searching for a fuck to give

Maybe they're really running out of ideas lol
or they're just rushing with this generation to have a short span so they could move to Gen. VII...maybe they prepared something even bigger than Gen. VI!

But other than that, I honestly have no problem with the few new Pokémon...so many names to remember now haha

It was a bit disappointing at first, but this generation has brought us so much more than new Pokemon. I'm glad they focused on the things they did.

they are too few, but i believe that we'll see more, given all the hints to a new region which may have new species

Pretty sure there will be a lot more on the next one. They probably spent tons of time on 3d modeling all the previous ones, technically they are all "new", so I appreciate that.

Yeah, I wish there were more new 'mon, I felt like I had too few options to work with for my new Pokémon-only team.

That being said, I thought the quality this generation was really good overall, so I'm at least impressed with the new designs!

I prefer enhancing what is already there than adding more to the table. With hoards spawning with hidden abilities, a new type, new tricks to teach old pokemon, mega evolution, the minigames and the entire game being in 3D I can forgive a few less sprites to hunt down. While I like to think mega evolution counts as a tsudo-legendary I'm glad there aren't anymore of those legendary trash thrown into the game than there were. Instead of adding uber pokemon I'd like to see patches that add more Mega Evolutions to the game to spice up the content we already have.

I like having a smaller number of new Pokemon. Especially when the quality of most of them is good, which is true of this generation. Whereas many of the Generation V 'mons were forgettable and at times horribly designed, there are many great 'mons this gen. Pyroar, Meowstic, Heliolisk, Dragalge, Hawlucha, Clawitzer, I can go on.

It's a comparatively small number, but we have so many Pokemon now but there's really no reason to keep pumping out 100+ every few years. Besides, Gen V was so short and at the same time had a ton of new ones, so I don't mind that we didn't get too many this time. And the Megas sorta help make up for it, personally.

It's just a poll. No reason to be rude.

It's a bit low, but it's not that big of a deal. I kinda wish we would've gotten a better Ground type than Diggersby though... but the lower number of new pokemon isn't that bad. Honestly, most gens (especially gen 5) introduced too many imo. Too many to choose from and so many passed over.

It's funny, because I just made a post on Facebook regarding this very fact, lol. But I'm fine with the fact there's only 69 new known Pokemon as of right now; with all the new stuff they did in converting the games for the 3DS, the amount of new Pokemon isn't a worry for me. Besides, the Kalos Pokemon I've used so far have all been pretty good; I'd rather have a handful of decent ones than 100+ crappy ones. Quality over quantity, IMO.

It is one of the many disappointments of this generation. If feels weird that im saying that considering the fact that my favorite generation is the most despised by pokemon fans(gen 4). But the whole mega evos are new pokemon thing feels like a massive cop out.

There definitely were too few. I play pokemon mainly for the pokemon, so not getting new ones is very frustrating. After playing through both X and Y once, I've pretty much used up all the pokemon that interest me, and that was with using old starters in one slot with each of those teams. I posted largely about this in the rant thread, but it just seems like many pokemon could have easily been expanded lines, and the spread of types was shit giving us absolutely no remarkable pokemon of some types such as bug and ground.

Here's hoping we get an expansion this gen.

i was'nt trying to be, i was stating my opinion.

I'm disappointed to see that there's not a lot of new Pokemon this time, but I can understand why GameFreak did this. It had to take a lot of time to make 3D models for every single Pokemon out there. The next game might bring more to the table since there are hints of another new region and GameFreak now has the majority of the models they'll need. :)

Well, there's 69 (>:3), well, 72 if Diancie, Volcanion and Hoopa are real (due to the fact their names were leaked with the likes of the middle and last forms of the Kalos starters, and Bunnelby, and the GTS treat their names like they're legit (I managed to deposit a Lv. 21 Female Snubull for a 'Hoopa', look it up! :) ), I severely doubt their fake), and that's not counting the Mega Evos. Including those, that brings us up to Johto-Sinnoh levels. Not too bad.
