I didn't use to, when I was younger. But since B/W came out, it's something I can't stop doing. See my signature for proof lol

No. I'm too lazy. Plus, I think their species names (Pikachu, Gardevoir, etc.) are good enough.

Usually not (except, like PkmnGreen said, from POKEMON to Pokemon). But in White, I nicknamed my Braviary "Washington." Because, well, it's kind of joked about as being the American eagle. And who's more American than George Washington?

Not at all. I actually hate it when all the in-game traded Pokemon are nicknamed.. Like the Rotom you trade for in BW.. Eek.. really? stupidest name ever. I like the species names. I don't like giving them nicknames. Plus I can't think of good enough nicknames to name them so I never bother.

Anymore, I don't. When I first started playing, I didn't name them either, but when I very first got back into the games (FR), I named everything that wasn't a legendary. Pretty stupid names at that. I eventually broke that habit, and I went back to not naming anything.

I used to never do it at all. When I started Black I decided to nickname every Pokémon I caught (I stopped a little after I beat the Elite Four) and since then I've been nicknaming a lot more of my Pokémon than I used to.

I nickname the ones I used as part of my in-game team, as well as HM slaves, Pokemon I use a lot for catching other Pokemon (ones with False Swipe, Thunder Wave, yadda yadda) or when breeding (a Pokemon with the ability Flame Body/Magma Armor for example). I never name Legendaries or Pokemon that just go in the box because I only wanted their Pokedex info.

In the older generations I may have nicknamed a Pokemon, or two, but now I would never nickname them, so NO is my vote. I find that keeping their original names makes them....well more original XD

Oh just to add I do nickname their names from Gen iV to the B/W lowercase format if I am going to poketransfer them like PkmnGreen mentioned, but I see that more as converting the same original name to the lowercase format.

I never nicknamed my pokes in Gen 1 and 2, but I started giving them names ever since Gen 3. It's whatever strikes me fancy.

In Emerald, I named my pokemons after their features or names. Blaziken as Rooster, Gardevoir as Lady Night, Swellow as Mr. Boss, and Breloom as Mushroom.

In FireRed, I named them after Sinnoh gym leaders, E4s, and stat trainers XDD I reloaded the games a lot of times to get a female Bulbasaur just so I could name her Gardenia.

In Pearl, I named them after their features/names again. Lopunny as Bunny, Luxray as Shine, Staraptor as Stargirl, and Empoleon as Prince.

In Platinum, I named them all after the Transformers Decepticons XDD I even went as far as to catching every single pokemon MALE so I didn't feel any trouble naming them XDD. (I boxed the females after using them for breeding). Rampardos was Shockwave and Staraptor was Starscream XDDDDDDDD Ah, the nostalgia XDD

In BW, I just named them after fruits/veggies. Plum the Pidove, Lettuce the Snivy, Ginger the Galvantula, Cinnamon the Gothrita

Only certain Pokémon.

I don't nickname my Pokemon when beginning a new generation, because that might make it difficult to memorize their actual names. Once I know their names by heart, I nickname my most important Pokemon after characters in other series, or anything amusing I can think of. ("Magikarp" the Arceus)

I only name certain ones when a name suddenly jumps into my head and I decide I just have to name them. I had Shellshock the blastoise and Shocker the pikachu :D

Wormy the butterfree

Yes. I nickname everyone that goes on my team or ends up in a Poke Ball, for that matter. I don't call my best friend "Human" so why should my poor Golurk be stuck with only a species name?

This, so very much! I always nickname my Pokemon, it adds a feeling of personal attachment to the game. They go from being bits of data to a treasured friend. It shows you really care if you bother to take 5 seconds to name them, you know? I don't even trade on the GTS if the Pokemon doesn't have a nickname.
